Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

my two dogs are 183 and 175 lbs. should 2 of the treatments be used each month due to their size?
Answer by ChewyFeb 11, 2019
It's not recommended to use this flea treatment on dog weighing more than 132 pounds.

What is the difference between the Plus and the the Gold?
Answer by ChewyApr 07, 2019
FRONTLINE Gold is the latest innovation in flea and tick protection from the maker of FRONTLINE Plus. In addition to having fipronil and (S)-methoprene, they now added a powerful third ingredient, pyriproxyfen which helps to kill the next generation of flea eggs and larvae before they can develop in to adult fleas.

Is this product safe for pregnant and lactating dog?
Answer by ChewyFeb 17, 2019
Frontline Gold is approved for use on dogs who are breeding, pregnant or lactating.

what does pyriproxyfen do?
Answer by ChewyDec 17, 2018
Pyriproxyfen mimics a natural hormone in insects and disrupts their growth.

Did not work

I was hopeful that this new gold product would have increased effectiveness. It did not. This product did not work for any of my dogs. This was an unfortunate waste of money.

Frontline Gold works (a little)

My pets have battled fleas all summer. I treated my four cats and two small dogs (all under 20 lbs) with Frontline Plus this spring with no apparent effect. In addition, when the infestations got really bad, I shampooed all of them twice a week with a thick suds of Sergeants Gold or Fresh and Clean or Adams flea and tick shampoos. Between shampooingsI also sprayed them thoroughly with either Sentry Pro or Duravet "No'Bite" flea and tick mist and rubbed it thoroughly into their fur. The cats are indoor/outdoor cats and the dogs are indoor/ outdoor also but limited to a 16' x 64' dog run that has grass. I thoroughly sprayed the entire dog run with Tempo and a month later saturated it with Adams Plus yard spray. (I spent a lot of money on all of this stuff). I made a bath tub out of half of a plastic 55 gallon barrel which I could fill with water and let it warm in the sun. With all of this treatment, they all scratch continuously and twice per week shampoos bring live fleas out of their fur. I ordered this Frontline Gold in the large tubes and treated both the cats and dogs with it. It did reduce the fleas some but they are still scratching and the last shampoo still turned up live fleas. I guess the next step is to try the obscenely expensive veterinary administered pills or the obscenely expensive $52 flea collars. Bottom line is the Frontline Gold did have "some" beneficial effect.

Did NOT work

I bought this, as it said it was for xl needs. I have a great dane/golden retriever mix (130lb). I administered it this past Thu, she is STILL chewing herself raw. I will not use this brand again. Sadly, I thought Frontline was a more dependable brand.

Not working for pets

This flea treatment does not get rid of or kill the fleas. My dogs are itching more than ever due to the fleas.

Don't throw your $$ away, send it to me instead!

Maybe they make weaker fleas in your state, but down here in Texas, ours are tough. And this supposedly improved version of my long-time favorite is just about as effective against them as a chopped liver rubdown. Frontline Gold isn't a pharmaceutical preventative; it's more like an appetizer for blood-thirsty fleas. I keep checking my mailbox for a thank you card from the thousands of microscopic carnivores that feasted on my poor pooch in his new Gold sauce. I bought a three-pack, used the second applicator three weeks after the first, then tossed the third dose in the trashcan. Chewy's price is, as usual, one of the lowest, but don't throw away even that bargain amount. Spend one dollar of the money you'll save on a pair of tweezers and sit there for thirty days, picking the fleas off your pup by hand. Then send the rest of your cash to me, because I won't waste a nickel of it. Believe me, you and your dog will both sleep better. And so will I.

Must have for pets!

With four animals in the house, and all neighbors having animals, frontline is a MUST! We have no issues with fleas or ticks in our house. I also love that chewy has allowed me to automatically re purchase these every 6 months so I don’t forget!
