Description

Frontline Gold for Cats doesn’t just kill adult fleas and ticks, but also slays the next generation of flea eggs and larvae. Even faster than Frontline Plus, Frontline Gold starts working within 30 minutes and lasts for 30 days! It works because of two, tough killing ingredients. The first, fipronil, kills adult fleas and ticks. The second, (S)-methoprene, attacks flea eggs and larvae. They work together to kill all month long. Plus, it breaks the flea life cycle. By also destroying the next generation of flea eggs and larvae, Frontline Gold gives you the power to help prevent a flea infestation on your pet. Frontline products are highly recommended by veterinarians for flea and tick control for cats.

Key Benefits

FAQ

Where do these new fleas come from?

Numerous hosts (including feral cats, opossums, raccoons, and other wildlife species) leave behind flea eggs wherever they go, including your yard. These outdoor flea infestations are often the primary source of the fleas that your pets pick up. Outdoors, developing flea stages can be found in areas protected from sunlight, so some of their favorite places include:

  • Sheds
  • Garages
  • Under porches or decks

How long will a flea infestation in the home last?

Flea eggs, larvae, and pupae in the environment continue to develop and emerge as new fleas (even after your pet has been treated with a flea control product). It can take weeks to months for this already established infestation to be controlled.

What else can I do to reduce the flea population in my home?

Regular use of an appropriate Frontline Gold brand product on your pet may reduce flea infestations in the home. For best results, use Frontline Gold brand products as part of a comprehensive flea treatment plan, which includes coordinated treatment of the home, yard and pet. Vacuum floors, carpets and furniture – especially in areas where an infested pet has spent a lot of time, because that is often where many flea eggs will be found. Wash pet bedding and other fabrics in hot water.

Why do I still see fleas on my pet after applying Frontline Gold?

There are two main reasons:

  • Fleas can jump onto your pet at any time (see where do new fleas come from), and these are not killed instantly.
  • Frontline Gold brand products are designed to kill any new fleas quickly and prevent their ability to reproduce. Frontline Gold kills fleas by overstimulating the flea nervous system, and hyperexcited fleas may move to the top of the haircoat before they die. So seeing fleas on top of the haircoat after applying Frontline Gold can be an indication that the product is working.

How does Frontline Gold for Dogs and Frontline Gold for Cats work?

After being applied, Frontline Gold for Dogs and Frontline Gold for Cats spreads all over the treated animal’s body and is stored in the sebaceous glands under the surface of the skin. From these glands, it is continually wicked through the hair follicles onto the skin and haircoat for a month or more.

Should I apply Frontline Gold for Dogs to ALL the dogs and Frontline Gold for Cats to ALL the cats in my household, even if they are indoor-only?

Absolutely. If you don’t treat every dog and cat, the untreated pets can continue to harbor fleas that will lay eggs, preventing the infestation from being cleared. Even if the dog or cat never goes outdoors, people may bring fleas into the home.

How often should I apply Frontline Gold brand products to my pets?

For continuous protection, apply an appropriate Frontline Gold brand product every 30 days as directed. Consistency is key.

Can I bathe my pet while using Frontline Gold?

Yes. Frontline Gold brand products remain effective for 30 days, even if your pet swims or is bathed. You may bathe your pet 48 hours after application. ONLY use a shampoo formulated for your pet and recommended by your veterinarian.

  • Got At The Vet Last Year - A Trusted Brand

When I saw fleas on my two current cats a week or two ago, I began to panic a little. The infestation got so bad last year that one of our cats actually died and the fleas started biting the HUMANS! (Fleas are serious business, and they don't die if you try to crush them between your fingers.) I got Frontline from the vet, so it's a brand I trust, which is very important considering that some flea products are toxic to cats. I used this on my 12-lb nine-year-old after buying it from Chewy recently, catching him unawares as he came over for cuddles. He pulled away and glared at me (and then tried and failed to lick it off), but I'm pretty sure he'll thank me in the long run. • Not extremely effective

I bought this product hoping it would be the 1 & only product I'd need for my cats' flea issue. Mind you, they weren't horribly infested, just itchy and I saw a flea in the house, so I went and bought this product as a topical flea killer. Well, we treated both cats - one took it just fine, the others' fur came out at the application area. No allergic reaction or skin irritation but it was disconcerting to see fur coming off of my cat! The itching continued and we combed two fleas off one of our cats a week after application. I would not recommend this product. Not very effective, and can cause dermatological issues. • Very disappointed

    By on

Did not work at all. We have had warmer weather than normal so the fleas have stayed around the yard longer than usual, and my dog is bringing them in from outside. My cats are strictly indoor cats so the fleas my dog brings in are finding the cats and so I spent the money to get a good flea treatment. Unfortunately, it has done nothing to deter the fleas. That was quite a bit of money to spend on a fixed income for something that didn't even work.

  • not worth the extra $$$

the product stated that while it would last 45 days, it was recommended to repeat application at 30 days. another plus was that the product would work faster, meaning kill all fleas currently on your pet rather than the manufacturer's other not "gold" product. now the facts as seen by me, grayhare and my partner scott, the gold product did work fast, but by day 10 was not doing its job. yes we were diligently clean. so we started combing as using any other product would have caused sickness in the least. I might consider the product again if the manufacturer changes the formulation.

  • Pretty effective product

    By on

I have used this on the various furbabes I have had over the years. None of the cats have ever had an adverse reaction of any kind, and it has proven to be effective for both fleas and ticks. Since I moved to the countryside, there are tons more ticks around! The only complaint I would have is that it really loses its effectiveness the last week of the month. I wish it were just a tad bit stronger.

  • Poor rating for Frontline Gold

    By on

I have given my cat a treatment of the Frontline Gold and unfortunately it has not worked.......I have an appointment with our Vet today, and hopefully "Otis" will be a happy cat again !!!! I have been happy with Chewy products in the past, no complaints, but this product was a disappointment. I will continue to order other items, not Frontline Gold

  • Disapprointing

I have been trying everything to get rid of my cats fleas. He is an indoor cat who never goes outside but since we adopted him he's been plagued with fleas! Sprays, advantage, capstan, and now Frontline gold have not done anything. I was really hoping this would be the thing that worked as I have spent a fortune trying all these products. I would really like to return the unused doses..

  • Finally a Flea/Tick Med that works!

    By on

This new product by Frontline has really lived up to its claims. Our cats suffered all summer with biting and scratching due to fleas to the point they were developing some bald spots. We tried several name brand flea preventative meds but nothing helped. Finally, we tried Frontline's new Gold formula. After 18 hours the fleas are gone and our cats are no longer biting and scratching! We highly recommend this product.

I like this product a lot better than the regular Frontline. It is a easier application than most. I would recommend this product to my fellow cat parents.

  • Works okay buttttt....

But I feel the prescription treatment Revolution works the best. Luckily though I haven't seen as many ticks on the cats since applying their doses last month.
