Frontline Plus doesn’t just kill adult fleas and ticks but also slays the next generation of flea eggs and larvae. Plus, it works non-stop for 30 days on dogs. Frontline Plus has 2 tough killing ingredients. The 1st, fipronil, kills adult fleas and ticks. The 2nd, (S)-methoprene, attacks flea eggs and larvae. They work together to kill all month long. Plus, it breaks the flea life cycle. By also destroying the next generation of flea eggs and larvae, Frontline Plus gives you the power to help prevent a flea infestation on your pet. Frontline products are highly recommended by veterinarians for flea and tick control for dogs.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does FRONTLINE Plus kill fleas and ticks?

FRONTLINE Plus has 2 secret weapons: fipronil and (S)-methoprene. Once FRONTLINE Plus is applied, this combo stores itself in the oil glands in your pet's skin. It then self-distributes continuously for 1 month to your pet's hair and skin through the hair follicles. Fleas or ticks that come in contact with your pet are dead meat.

How long does it take for FRONTLINE Plus to kill fleas?

In a study, FRONTLINE Plus began killing fleas 4 hours after application.1 Another study showed that within 12 hours, Frontline Plus killed 100% of fleas.2

Do fleas and ticks have to bite my pet for FRONTLINE Plus to work?

No. FRONTLINE Plus kills fleas and ticks through contact with your pet's haircoat. No biting necessary.

Why am I seeing more fleas on my pet after applying FRONTLINE Plus?

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's haircoat as they die. So if you start seeing more fleas after treating your pet, consider it a victory for the killing force.

After using FRONTLINE Plus, I still see fleas in my home. Why?

The fleas you see most likely started as flea eggs that were deposited in the environment before you began using FRONTLINE Plus. Consecutive monthly applications of FRONTLINE Plus will assist with the elimination of an indoor flea life cycle. In some geographical regions in the United States, it may be required to use the product year-round.

Does FRONTLINE Plus have an expiration date?

No. As long as you keep it at room temperature and sealed in its original packaging, FRONTLINE Plus will remain ready for battle.

How long after application can my pet be bathed or go swimming?

FRONTLINE Plus remains effective for 30 days, even if your pet swims or is bathed. After application, keep your pet from getting wet for 24 hours. If FRONTLINE Plus is to be applied after a bath, make sure your pet is completely dry before application.

Can I use it if my pet is on medication?

Before using FRONTLINE Plus, ask your vet about possible interactions with any medications your dog is taking.

Can I use FRONTLINE Plus if I have already applied another flea and tick control product?

Before using, consult your veterinarian.

Does FRONTLINE Plus kill anything else besides fleas and ticks?

You bet. FRONTLINE Plus also kills chewing lice.

Can FRONTLINE Plus be used on pets other than dogs and cats?

No. FRONTLINE Plus should be used on dogs and cats only. There are specific products based on what kind of pet you have and how much it weighs. Be sure to use the right product for your pet.

Can I apply it more than once a month?

Don't reapply FRONTLINE Plus before the month is through. It keeps working for a full 30 days.

How old does my pet need to be in order to have FRONTLINE Plus applied?

At 8 weeks your pet can start benefiting from the power of FRONTLINE Plus.

  • Frontline Plus for dogs

    By on

I was extremely satisfied with Chewy's service. Shipping was fast and I had no problem with them. The product I bought however is another story. I've used Frontline Plus in the past and had no problem. A month ago I applied the product on my Jack Russell and it wasn't 10 days later that I noticed he had fleas on him. I was very disappointed. Needless to say I now have 3 applications I need to throw out. I won't be buying this product for my dog again.

  • Active Goldendoodle

I have a 2 year old Goldendoodle that loves the outdoors. If I didn’t know any better I would think she was a lab. Never the less she have never come back with a tick or flea on herself. Great product. Also Chewy’s is the best I can order it and forget about it knowing that it will show up at my door in a day or two.

  • Great to prevent infestations at the beginning of flea season

    By on

I used this on my two beagles (11 and 7 years old). My 11 year old is often sensitive to different types of flea products but did not react to this one. Both of my beagles spend lots of time outside during the spring, summer, and fall so I make sure to protect them with this as soon as the winter snow starts to melt. No infestation for us this year!

  • Worked less then 1 wk!

    By on

Pets got fleas again one week after applications. All 4 pets! We did not allow any of the pets to lick or rub off the front line, nor did we allow them to get wet that entire week. We washed all bedding as directed, and treated the house. No fleas were present in the house period or on the pets all week. Took them for a walk in the park, and apparently came home with a few fleas which started the process of infestation all over again. It did not prevent re-infestation!

  • Excellent Product, Killed Fleas Very Quickly

    By on

The price was better than most places (as of 10/2017) and the product works great. I've only been buying frontline for years. I neglected to renew and my dog got fleas right off. Renewed and in a week the fleas were dead. It was pretty gross seeing them all jump off but I haven't seen any since. :) Very happy my baby isn't itching anymore!

  • Frontline Plus decreased effectiveness

    By on

I have noticed that Frontline Plus is less effective on my dogs and cats this year. I mentioned this to my veterinarian and she agreed and recommended Advantage II which worked much better for some reason.

  • Great customer service!

    By on

I purchased the frontline as a replacement for Advantix (the product worked well, but my dog was having a skin reaction to it - which she is prone to). I haven't tried the product yet, but should mention that Chewy's customer service on this was top notch! I had a full box of Advantix which I bought from Chewy but could no longer use (due to dog's allergies). The rep at Chewy refunded me the for the box of Advantix (asked that I take it to a SPCA, because they can't take back things like that), sent me an box of Frontline, and waived the shipping fee. Overall, great customer service!

  • I'm surprised this is still on the market

    By on

I noticed the last time I used it that it didn't help much, which was a first. Then my vet told me that fleas & ticks have developed a resistance towards it. So why is it still on the market?

  • No bugs for me.

    By on

Best price I've found even with some store's/vet's offer of, "buy 3, get 1 free." I've used this since my seniors were puppies, it works. My dogs have never had a flee on them. Once after spending a lot of time in a park, one of my dogs got a tick on his eye lid. The vet removed it and said this product absorbs into the large muscles and apparently isn't as effective on the face. I avoid that park and have continued to use Frontline without further incident. Cons: It is oily and takes a few days to absorb wherein it isn't noticeable. My dogs have huge coats, it maybe messy with short coated dogs.
