Good temporary house for small pets and ducks

I got this for raising our ducklings when they grew too big for their brooder. Pros- The sides are deep enough to keep pine shaving bedding in. The medium size can comfortably fit 3-4 full grown runner ducks at least temporarily. I like that the mesh sides gives them good ventilation. The medium size can comfortably fit 3-4 full grown runner ducks at least temporarily. I like that the mesh sides gives them good ventilation. It's fairly easy to clean. Cons-the bottom material is a little bit thin and flimsy and rips easily unless you are careful. It is also not waterproof so if you don't put something absorbent on the bottom and your animal spills water it will leak onto the floor. Overall really great for the price, probably wouldn't recommend for dogs or cats though unless they miraculously never scratch at anything. … more

The first time I used it, I had someone replacing my apartment door and I didn’t want my cat getting outside- I made the mistake of putting her food and water in there with her… water and food went everywhere because she hated being in there and immediately jumped and ran into the edges, causing the pen to flip over. This probably wouldn’t have happened if I put heavy items in there to weigh it down, but the whole point of me putting her in there was so she could be contained and have plenty of room so she could relax. In hindsight I should have just put her in her carrier because it would have been less stressful for everyone. The other times I’ve used this we were outside and I used the stakes to keep the pen upright and immobile. Overall, this probably works great for kittens or older (small and mellow) pets if they need to be left unsupervised for a few hours, but I don’t trust the quality of this pen enough to leave my 5yo cat unsupervised for more than a couple minutes because she’d probably find a way to get out of it or roll away in it! … more
