My sofa is a magnet for cat hair. Primarily, I was in search of something small they could lay on to prevent the daily vacuuming. When I saw these, I was sold on the thermal aspect because my Tortie is obsessed with warmth. She steals my little heating pad from me and crawls under the blankets and hogs the heating vents. Now that I have 2 of these mats, one for each of my cats' favorite spots on the sofa, the Tortie doesn't mind sleeping on it and the Tabby refuses to go on it at all. He won't have anything to do with it, and he has never seemed picky about where he plops his fat orange butt. In fact, he chooses a different spot on the sofa now which defeats the purpose altogether. Not necessarily the product's fault. That's just a heads up not all cats will appreciate the material. I have tested the warmth between the mat and the Tortie after a good hour and it doesn't feel any different than laying on a basic blanket.
My 18 year old cat is a huge fan!
I bought this product about a year ago and my 18 year old cat, Sweety, is a huge fan of this mat. I keep it on top of a blanket on my couch and Sweety sleeps on it every day, and has been ever since I bought it a year ago. I’ve caught her curled up like a kitten, fast and sound asleep on this mat numerous times. It got to the point where I bought her an orthopedic pet bed for $60 and she immediately went back to the self-heating mat setup after trying the bed once (the $60 went down the drain instantly, she has no interest in that bed and even peed on it). So the self-heating mat reigns supreme. I definitely recommend it! It’d doesn’t take up much space, is super soft, and seems comfortable enough for my senior kitty.
Scary, scary!
My cat Bebe was terrified by this mat. Something about the heat reflective material - it makes a crinkling sound when she steps on it. She wants nothing to do with this.
Buy one if you live in a cold climate
I purchased a size "large" mat in the color beige for my two cats for a Christmas present. They love it. It is folded in half and in a permanent position on one of the couches, where they sleep together and cuddle every night. Super easy to wash in the machine and then hang to air dry on a hanger, using the hook sewn at the top of the pad. It is a little crackly in sound but not much at all. I'd recommend this for all those with older cats who need the warmth and heat at night, or if your home is typically cold. Worth the money. I'm buying a second one as a back-up.
Where has this been all my life?
My dudes are seniors, and so they have some trouble with temperature regulation sometimes. These beds are little miracles. They love them. When my front door is open, they sit on these beds watching the world go by through the storm door, and they are as happy as I've ever seen them. I bought extras so that I could have some on each floor of my house, and they're all seeing regular use. And they're machine washable!!
Soft and Warm
I bought 2 mats for my 3 cats, and they all use them!! Very plush and comfy for them. Only reason for 4 stars is the slip factor on hard wood floors. Otherwise, great mats!!
Liking Chewy
So glad I found Chewy!! It is so nice to be able to order food and other things and it's on my front porch in about 2-3 days! Everything is quality food and other products that I can trust and my cats can eat. They love their warming pad!!!
Cozy kitty mat.
This is a really nice mat to lay on your couch or bed for the kitties. It's easy to wash. I added one to my feral kitty house for them to snuggle on. The opossums like it too.
Self warming pad
Got this to put in my indoor/outdoor cat's house on the porch. He was not a fan until I brought it in and had it on my lap. He jumped up and took a nap on it in my lap. After that he stays in his house with this pad when it gets cold. He seems to love it now!
