It's soft plastic and the plunger does not depress well without strong force (more than one hand) so it does not dispense well. I followed the instructions about leaving the plastic film inside, too, which I think further cheapens it. It is not at all worth the money and feels like a dollar store item.
First, this only works on my short haired puppy (so I'll keep it hoping with her growth she won't outgrow its usage), but not at all on my 90lbs GSD (who it was actually purchased for) due to the bristles not being long enough and too soft to penetrate any real amount of hair. Second, add the flimsy plastic "seal" that's supposed to contain the shampoo and is used to compress the soap out through the spouts has a tendency to leak regardless of which side it's set on, especially after use. So if you're going to use this on your short haired pup, only put enough shampoo in for a one use at a time.
I have a corgi and never feel like I cannot get into that under coat, and with this handy tool I was able to get a deep clean on him.
This item is worthless for dispensing shampoo- I filled it and put the plastic piece back in as instructed but unless I pushed with both hands in the middle upside down- no soap was ever dispensed. I finally opened the lid- used the shampoo in it and it is going in the garbage.
Mine went straight into the garbage after I used it once. It didn't release the shampoo, the bristles are very stiff and irritating to the dogs and it was difficult to hold onto once I uad shampoo on my hands. Save your money.
As far as dispensing the shampoo goes, I will agree that this brush could use some work. Pressing the button while shampooing is difficult and the shampoo doesn't always come out evenly. However, the bristles are amazing. I used this on my German Shepherd and it was able to get the shampoo into his fur while removing loose hair and dander. By the time bath time was finished, his coat looked so fresh and clean - better that I ever could have done with gloves or hands alone. I would recommend working a bit of shampoo into the coat before using this, in order to make sure that you get the desired amount of lather. And this brush will help to get the shampoo into the coat and to the skin while removing the loose fur and any dirt or dander (at least in my experience).
I ordered this to make it easier to apply shampoo one-handed. It does not work at all! It takes 2 hands just to push the dispensing button down. Don’t waste your money!
Followed the directions but it really doesn’t seem to do much. Washing the old fashioned way is the way to go.
One of the worst purchases ever. Filled with shampoo...nothing comes out. Sat it on the shelf and it just seeped out of the side cracks. Nothing came out of the intended holes. Junk.
This is a good item for washing the body of my pets but doesn't replace a washcloth for face, legs, tail of my 3 small pups. It also doesn't hold a lot of shampoo, so if you have a larger dog, you'd need to refill part way through the bathing process. My dogs do like the massage feeling, so for that, I'm pleased and it does seem to help loosen deep dirt, dead skin cells and stuff from their body.
