Can use this on my border Collie ?
Answer by ChewyNov 24, 2017
This brush is ideal for short and medium coats. If your Border Collie's coat is longer, the FURminator Long Hair deShedding Edge For Dogs is recommended.

I have a Black Lab, American Staffordshire Terrier Mix! His hair is very straight about an inch & a quarter long! Will this brush work for his coat?
Answer by ChewyJul 20, 2021
Currybrushes are best used on short-haired, smooth-coated dogs that are prone to shedding. The molded rubber teeth massages pet’s skin to help distribute natural oils that promote coat health and shine.

A+ Grooming Tool

My dog loves being brushed with this comb. I think he finds it calming. The downside is that it doesn't collect the fur, so be prepared. But it is effective.

Works for me!

I have used the original furminator and also the zoom groom and I prefer this brush to both. I have a medium sized smooth coated dog and it does very well at removing hair. It also seems to be much more comfortable to her than the zoom groom and removes quite a bit more of her hair than the original furminator. I would highly recommend it to anyone with a short coated dog. I cannot attest to its abilities on a thicker coat.

I was hoping for softer, maybe rubbery, teeth for grooming. The hard plastic is uncomfortable for my dog and, although, it “brushes “ somewhat, it isn’t very effective. My dog loves to be groomed, but he doesn’t like this. Me, either. I like the construction of the item..fits the hand well; comfortable to hold.

Great for pittys

I was pretty hesitant at first but it picks up all my dogs short straight hair and it's super easy to remove the hair and throw it out.

My pets love it.

Bought this for my short haired dog, while he loves it my cat will also come running for her turn when she see's this brush. I haven't had it long so I cannot speak to it's durability yet but it seams well constructed.

Rubber Dog Brush

Doesn’t really pick up fine hair. Might be good for skin stimulation. Price makes it affordable. I would not recommend it for short hair dogs.

A Great Shower Brush

I have a 10 month old Bullypit and this brush really helps out with getting dirt out of her coat before and during showers. The brush its self is small and rubbery and the strap is small as well but I don't mind because I have small hands (6 inches in height and 3 in width).

great for a dog who hates brushing

My large, very self-governing dog has always hated brushing. All I'd have to do was pick one up, and off she'd go to hide under furniture. She has mid-length fur with a woolly undercoat that really needs periodic dethatching. This comb does the job without hurting or alarming her. Wish I'd figured this out sooner.

Great for bulldogs!

Truly surprised because it seems flimsy & cheap but it does work extremely well for my American bulldog! Handle is small but grip is fine without it.

Better Choices Out There

I have had a FURminator comb for years and have recommended it to my fellow dog owners and thought I would give this a try because it was not metal and I thought it would be more "gentle". Not all that happy with it. I have a Doberman so it might be that her hair is short so when I use this I get very little hair after "combing" her. I think it would work better if the nibs were longer. I would NOT recommend this for a long haired dog, the original FURminator is much better.
