The FURminator Ultra Premium Shampoos, Conditioner and Waterless Sprays should not affect the topical flea and tick preventatives when used as directed by the topical preventative. Each flea and tick preventative works differently, so it is important to read the instructions on the box and apply the topical preventative as directed before or after a bath. Most topical preventatives suggest waiting 3-5 days before and after a bath to apply the product.The FURminator line of hair care products are mild and do not contain "stripping" ingredients that would remove the flea and tick topical preventative. The majority of the flea and tick preventatives are held in the skin pores and require aggressive cleaning or "degreasing" to affect their performance.
