Don't Dread the Shed

Dealing with shedding feels like an uphill battle to most dog lovers. While you may never stop your precious furballs from shedding, you can help to reduce the amount of hair your pet sheds with FURminator. Designed by a professional groomer, this tool reaches beyond the topcoat to remove loose hair from the undercoat. It pulls away loose hair without hurting your dog's skin or damaging his undercoat.

Don't Dread the Shed
The Gentle Grooming Solution

The Gentle Grooming Solution

Chances are, if you're a pet parent, it shows—and not always in a good way. From your couch to your favorite sweater, dog hair can get everywhere. FURminator products work to tackle your shedding problems in the comfort of your own home by targeting the loose hairs of your pal's undercoat without hurting your pup.

The FURminator Advantage

When it comes to fur, no two breeds are alike. For example, did you know that some dogs have two coats? There's a topcoat—the fur you see—and an undercoat, which you don't. With a unique deShedding edge, FURminator reaches through the topcoat to remove loose hair hiding in the undercoat. Regular brushing grooms your pup's topcoat, but only de-shedding removes the loose hairs before they shed.

The FURminator Advantage
Less Hair, Less Cleaning

Less Hair, Less Cleaning

FURminator deShedding tools can help cut down on your cleaning time by removing loose hair before it ends up around the house. That's because most of the hair you get stuck cleaning up—yes, including those furry tumbleweeds—is mostly from your dog's undercoat. This hair gets trapped under the topcoat and then sheds pretty much everywhere—and that is where the FURminator can help.

* With regular use.

    Not big enough

    By on

My dog is 29 inches tall, over 3ft long and weighs 115 lbs, so this item was very smal for her. It as a pleasant scent and can be used as a quick wipe.

Used for a final step when brushing

My 9-year-old Shiba Inu #2 is one of those breeds that grows a double coat in winter. What's visible is the outer coat, which consists of stiff hairs on her body & neck mostly about 2 inches long, more or less, and shorter on her head & legs. Hidden underneath is a very fine down-like undercoat. She sheds the undercoat beginning in April and continuing through the end of June. Some of the outer coat is also shed and partially replaced with shorter hairs. I started using these FURminator Shed-Control Dog Cloths in April 2018 for the first time, but I only use them to finish a two- or three-step brushing procedure that is daily or even twice per day during peak shedding time. I started using these FURminator Shed-Control Dog Cloths in April 2018 for the first time, but I only use them to finish a two- or three-step brushing procedure that is daily or even twice per day during peak shedding time. So it doesn't surprise me that the cloths do not pick up much hair as the brushes remove most of the loose stuff. The reasons I use the cloths is to get rid of any remaining loose hair on the surface and to clean her a little, as the cloths pick up some dirt/dust off her oily coat. In addition, I can use the cloths in areas that are not well suited for brushing, such as her legs, tail, & behind. Furthermore, she seems to like getting wiped down with these cloths. Or maybe she just likes the attention. Fortunately, tangled & matted fur is nonexistent on a Shiba Inu, so I start out with a once-over raking only if loose fur is especially abundant or if it's been too long since the last brushing. (I usually skip the rake, which is a generic rake bought at PetSmart that I like better than FURminator's rake.) The two main steps are (1) FURminator Firm Slicker Brush and (2) FURminator Medium-Dog Short-Hair deShedding Tool with the "Comfort Edge" (curved blade). About once per week, I'll follow up with the subject FURminator Shed-Control Dog Cloths so that she can look her Sunday Best. If you get the cloths with your Autoship orders, Chewy has the best price that I've found, thank you! … more

I found this item very helpful for my chihuahuas

    By on

Maybe it's the type of short hairs they have but these cloths seem to grab the excess hair and hold onto it when I cannot get to brush them. If they dry out, I simply add a little water to the package and the cloths become moist again.

    Another Great Product!

    By on

Thank God for chewy.com! Along with the other products FURminator has invented for the use of helping our four-legged fur-babies in their shedding this has been a huge difference. Thanks again chewy.com for having the products we need at a much lower price than any other stores and online companies. I salute you!!! Best Regards, Sally H. Kenton Oh

    Very disappointing

    By on

It wetted him down enough to remove some of the loose hair, which is why I give it two stars. However, it had dried out completely by the time I got it to an air-tight bag (which it did not even say it needed). The package said the cloth had two distinct sides, but I could not see any difference and neither one worked very well. This is the first Chewy product I've been totally disappointed with. Mahler is the worst-shedding dog I have ever had, so I am still looking for something to help control the flying dog hair.

Did not forget no this product effective on my short haired dog.

    By on

It did not appear to pick up any hair. At the end of the day a good brushing was more effective.

    Does not really work

    By on

I am not sure if it is the products fault or our bully just sheds way too much but these clothes did not really help at all.
