Furosemide is a diuretic used to remove excess fluid from the body. It's indicated in the treatment of congestive heart failure, some other heart diseases, pulmonary edema, certain kidney diseases, high blood pressure, high potassium level in the blood, ascites (fluid in the abdomen), and certain kinds of tissue edema (swelling).
Dehydration with excessive thirst and increased or decreased urine production have been reported. Electrolyte imbalances (e.g., low sodium, potassium, or calcium), often with rapid heart rate, weakness, depression, vomiting, and restlessness are also possible. If you see any of these signs, contact your veterinarian immediately. Rarely, pets may see an increase in blood glucose level, anemia, pale gums, tiredness, or weakness. A decrease in white blood cells, (making your pet more susceptible to infections) and stomach or intestinal disorders (with vomiting or diarrhea) are also possible, but rare.
Consult your veterinarian before using furosemide with any other medications, including vitamins and supplements.
Do not use in animals with known allergies to Furosemide or sulfa drugs. Furosemide will cause your pet to urinate more often. Your pet may have more accidents and need to go outside more. Use with caution in pets with kidney disease and diabetes. Do not use in animals with anuria (inability to produce urine), progressive kidney disease, electrolyte imbalances, water loss (dehydration), liver disease, diabetes mellitus, vomiting, or diarrhea. Do not use in pregnant or lactating females.

This is an oral tablet that works as a diuretic in order to help to remove excess fluid from the body when additional fluid develops in the body as a result of heart disease, fluid in the lungs (pulmonary edema), kidney disease, and liver disease. It is also sometimes used to manage hypertension (high blood pressure).
Give tablet(s) with or without food by mouth according to your veterinarian's precise instructions.
Your pet should have water available at all times while taking this medication.
If you are unsure of how to give Furosemide correctly, contact your veterinarian.
Furosemide is a diuretic. Diuretics stop the absorption of salt and fluid in the kidney tubules. This causes increased urine output so that excess fluid can be effectively removed from the body.
Furosemide is not a cure but it can help to improve your pets clinical symptoms and help him/her to feel better. Furosemide works quickly but only works for a few hours after each dose so it needs to be given at regular intervals in order to maintain its effects.
The med is one of two our girl needs for her heart. She has an enlarged heart and a murmur which won’t improve much, just trying to keep it from getting worse. Symptoms seem to have improved somewhat. So I suppose they are working.
I was getting these pills from the vet's office because it was convenient..., but the economy and my dogs expensive vet bills forced me to look for an alternative. thankfully, Chewy's is able to give better prices because they work in bulk. it was a good choice.
First time i got GIANT white pills (12.5mg) and the 2nd time I got smaller pink pills that were the same as what I got from my vet. The first shipment were a complete waste of money because they were TOO big even split up in 4 pieces to give to my cat. Why can't you just send out the same pill each time? Now I don't feel confident buying from Chewy even though the prices is much less than my vet. Complete waste of money.
Two of the prescriptions that I was buying from the vet I was paying over $130 for them but thanks to Chewie. We are getting them a lot cheaper.
The actual delivery was great however I contacted Chewy on Christmas because our dog passed away on Christmas. I asked that all future shipments be canceled and asked about the 2 medications if they could be returned. We were told that Chewy Pharmacy would contact us but instead I just get emails telling me what is on sale for Chloe. Do you guys communicate with each other about being insensitive about things like this?
I had an issue with my prescription autoship. I needed to get the dosage increased for one of the three medications on order. Wanda helped me get the issue resolved and got my order out the same day! My dog will be on this medication for the rest of her life. Why would I go anywhere else for her medication but Chewys! No hassles and the prices are very low.
Although getting these meds through Chewy has saved me money, the tablets have to be split due to dose and when you try to split them they crumble making it extremely hard to give an accurate dose. My vet issued them already split so I did not have to worry about inaccurate dosing. I like the convenience of auto shipping and the lower cost but not sure I can continue using them with this issue.
Chewy. Staff is so kind so helpful. I will always use chewy
Doggy meds so much cheaper than at the vet - and delivered directly to my door step
I like the convenience of the autoship! Medications arrive on time and I am not worrying about if they will get here. It is easy to change the autoship date if needed! Medicine is the same quality as what I was getting from my vet.
