Transition Instructions

While it’s perfectly safe to stop feeding your cat’s previous food one day and introduce Fussie Cat the next, we recommend a gradual transition to Fussie Cat for up to 2 weeks. This is especially true if your cat has been previously fed a high grain, corn, wheat or soy diet. Start by introducing a small amount of Fussie Cat, increasing it daily while decreasing the previous food by the same amount. This will help avoid upset stomachs as it makes it easier for your pet’s digestive system to acclimate.

What sets Fussie Cat apart from other pet foods?

Fussie Cat recipes are based on our Meat First philosophy. Meat or fish is always the main ingredient. As cats are obligate carnivores, nothing but a Meat First recipe will provide complete, Physiologically Tuned™ nutrition for your pet.

Why is real meat as the first ingredient so important?

All Fussie Cat recipes are based on our Meat First™ philosophy because cats are obligate carnivores. They require high amounts of protein to thrive, and lack the digestive enzymes to properly break down and combine incomplete plant proteins. This means they must have high-quality animal protein for optimal health.

Should Fussie Cat canned foods be refrigerated after opening?

Yes. Any unused portion must be refrigerated in a sealed container. Consider a plastic container with a tight-fitting lid. In addition, we recommend using each meal completely within 4 days of opening it. If your cat doesn’t care for cold food, let it sit at room temperature for around 30 minutes, or microwave it for 10 seconds (in a microwave safe dish, not the can), prior to feeding.

How do I read the dates on cans of Fussie Cat?

To help ensure you’re getting the freshest food for your cat, we provide both a “Production Date” and an “Expiration Date” on our packaging, located on the bottom of the can. It will read: “PRO MM/DD/YYYY, and EXP MM/DD/YYYY.” Never feed our pet food or any other brand to your cat past the expiration date.

What is the shelf life of Fussie Cat food?

Our recipes are vacuum sealed in our kitchen to give them a shelf life of 3 years. As with any pet food, never feed our meals to your pet past the expiration date, which is clearly marked on the bottom of the can.

Fussie Cat may be healthy, but will my cat like it?

The healthiest recipe in the world is useless if your cat won’t eat it. Conversely, the most delicious recipe falls short if it doesn’t provide the nutrition your cat’s biology demands. That’s why our recipes are all “Co-Created by Cats.™” We start with the Meat First™ ingredients your cat needs to thrive, then we taste test our meals with actual pets to create meals that are as delicious as they are nutritious.

Can I feed my cat dog food, or vice versa?

No. Despite what you may have heard, cats and dogs have unique nutritional needs and should be fed meals designed specifically for their needs. Health problems may occur from not feeding your pet a complete and balanced, species appropriate diet. Check the AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) statement, or on the product packaging to determine if that recipe is appropriate for your pet’s nutritional requirements.

Is Fussie Cat easy to rotate between flavors with my sensitive feline?

Because Fussie Cat® products are formulated to have similar nutrient profiles it is a great rotational diet. If your cat is sensitive to a certain recipe we recommend that you try another.

How do I know Fussie Cat provides my pet with quality nutrition?

All Fussie Cat foods are made in an FDA-approved kitchen that also produces human-grade foods. We regularly inspect everything from the manufacturing process to the raw ingredients that go in our foods so you can rest assured your cat’s meals are prepared under the strictest guidelines for quality control that meets international standards.

Do you perform any invasive animal testing in developing your products?

No, and we never will. Our company was founded on the basis of providing delicious, nutritionally correct, value conscious meals for your cat. To fine-tune our recipes, we conduct trials where our food is fed to pets. This is done in a comfortable, stress-free environment for the animals.

What is AAFCO and is Fussie Cat AAFCO approved?

AAFCO stands for Association of American Feed Control Officials. All Fussie Cat recipes are formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO for all life stages of your pet. This certifies that Fussie Cat is a nutritionally complete product that can be fed to your pet as its sole ration without adding any other substance except water. For more information on AAFCO regulations, visit aafco.org.

Co-Created by Cats

Instead of just assuming what kind of food cats will like, Fussie Cat lets them call the shots. Each recipe is co-created and taste-tested by cats to make sure your own kitty will love it. Aside from being highly palatable, Fussie Cat wet and dry foods are full of quality meats like boneless chicken, duck, tuna, shrimp and prawns to make sure your little carnivore is getting the protein-rich, feline-appropriate diet she needs.

Made for Meat Lovers

Made for Meat Lovers

If there's one thing cats crave, it's the rich taste of pure meat. It makes sense, because they're obligate carnivores. Your four-legged friend probably lets you know exactly what she likes, and it's sure to be fish, poultry or meat. Fussie Cat has farm-raised poultry, ocean fish from the South Pacific, and a whole range of interesting seafood options like Threadfin Bream, smoked tuna, mussels, clams and anchovies.

Physiologically Correct Diets

Knowing that cats need meat protein to survive, Fussie Cat developed formulas that they call Physiologically Correct. As true carnivores, their bodies are extremely efficient in processing meat, so 20% of their diet should come from animal proteins. Fussie Cat's foods start with meat, are low in carbs and include a complete spectrum of essential vitamins and minerals. You can be sure your kitty's getting all the necessary amino acids, protein and other nutrients.

Kitty's Choice

Kitty's Choice

With two canned food lines and several tempting dry food options, your cat can always have the dinner she prefers. Fussie Cat Premium is a tuna-based menu that pairs this popular fish with chicken or seafood delicacies. Super Premium is made for chicken lovers with boneless chicken, low sodium levels and plenty of omegas. Market Fresh dry foods are crunchy and delicious, with proteins full of vitamin B12, and antioxidant-rich cranberries and blueberries.

Outstanding Quality Control

Fussie Cat makes their top-quality foods in an FDA-registered kitchen—the same kitchen that produces canned food that's fit for people to eat. Thorough quality inspections are conducted daily for food safety, heavy metals, pathogens, contamination and pesticides, so the end product is everything that you should expect it to be.

  • High Quality Dry Food My Cat Prefers

    By on

I use this dry food for one of my cats (one is on a rabbit diet and the other had stomatitis and has no teeth) in conjunction with BFF moist food. I love the high quality ingredients this brand uses - human grade - and Griffin enjoys all three varieties. The pricing is reasonable and because I feed moist and dry, a small bag goes a long way. I serve this dry food knowing Griffin is getting exactly what he needs and not getting what he doesn't! Fussie Cat is true to its name as it appeals to my sometimes finicky eater.

  • Thankful my kitties like this one

    By on

My stray cat came to me weighing 4.5lbs. She readily ate the Nature's Recipe and was up to a whomping 8lbs. After Nature's Recipe stopped making cat food, I switched to a comparable brand. I noticed I wasn't filling the bowl as much, but it wasn't until I noticed my little girl didn't seem quite as round as usual. When I weighed her, she was down to 6lbs - she had lost 40% of her body weight. In a panic, I tried five different cat foods and Fussie Cat was our final solution!

  • My Cat is a Fussie eater

    By on

My cat is hard to please with her food, I rescued her from under our house, which she was eating lizzards, mice, whatever. Now that she lives in the house she has become very Fussie about her food, She liked the IAMS salmon in the blue bags, however it was discontinued, so I have been trying other types for now

  • Multi Cat Household

    By on

I received a free sample of this at a local store. It was such a hit that we decided to give it a try and no regrets. It's a high quality food and the cats love it. Finding a food that everyone agrees on is always a challenge, but so far they've all enjoyed this one.

  • Hey, Mikey! He LIKES it!

    By on

My male cat is pretty fussy. He often will sniff something new that I've introduced and walk away. If he comes back, that is a plus! I had to switch away from another dry food when he developed a urinary infection while eating it. I switched to distilled water and canned food and have not served dry food in over a year. When I introduced the Fussie Cat Salmon, he liked it right away. I still feed wet food as well to help maintain his water consumption, but I am now confident that he is digesting the Fussie Cat Salmon well. And he loves it. :)

  • Minnie approved!

    By on

My rescued barn cat that ate anything you would put in front of her when she was living in a barn...now that she is an indoor cat, she's become very picky. Fussy Cat is the only dry food that she will eat. I have tried a dozen different brand from cheap to expensive and luckily I found this and she absolutely loves it. Already on bag number 3.

  • Mr. Max is happy and full

    By on

I had to find Max a new food because Iams discontinued the food he ate. I tried Crave and he was not happy (Ivy, the dog finished that for us) A local pet food store suggested Fussie Cat. I bought the smallest bag. Max LOVES it. So we are all set.

  • Great for allergies

    By on

One of my cats is allergic to basically everything and used to throw up her food a lot. I've tried countless brands of food and this is the only thing that works for her. Her hair started growing back in just a few days and now her coat is so fluffy and shiny. It's pricy but worth it
