Questions & Answers

3 Customer Questions

Is this glass very opaque? I'm wondering if it will glimmer in the water with light on it, or if it has more of a soft matte look to it.
Answer by ChewyJul 23, 2022
Some of the lighter glass colors is can be seem through but not 100%. Most of the glass becomes contrasted underwater, similar to stones and rocks. The majority of the glass colors will have a more contrasted matte look underwater.

What size are the pieces of glass approximately?
Answer by ChewyJan 24, 2021
This glass measures approximately 1-2 inches in both length and height and about 1/4-3/4 inch in width.

I would like to add a layer of sea glass to my 50 gallon tank how many bags would I need?
Answer by ChewyJan 14, 2021
This will depend on high thick you would like the substrate to be. As a general rule we recommend using 1 pound of substrate per gallons of tank for a 1 inch thick substrate or 22 pounds per gallons of tank for 2 inch thick substrate.

Colored glass not as pictured

I was disappointed in the color of the decorative broken glass. The photo clearly shows bright green but was actually a very muddled yellow. Picture is deceiving.

Sea glass

Was more like 3 lb bag instead of 4 and a lot of tiny pieces.

Warning ...its broken glass!

Its definitely beautiful and you get (sort of) what is advertised. I just don't know what I was thinking when I decided to add broken glass to my aquarium gravel for a splash of color. I washed it thoroughly before mixing it with my regular gravel while setting up my tank. My hands started to sting and progressively got worse the more I was arranging my setup. I soon realized my hands were all cut up from washing, mixing, and arranging these jagged shards of glass. I realized my mistake and thought about the nightmare of cleaning, changing, or letting my fish any where near this hazard. I spent the rest of my day fishing out each and every piece of glass from my setup. When I think of sea glass, I think of well weathered smooth glass pieces. This was more like when you break a glass in the kitchen and have to sweep up the pieces. I definitely wouldn't let any pets near this stuff!

lasted for about 6 months

This is being used on the ambient side of my blue tongue skinks enclosure for the last six months. I have several of these throughout my other ranks but the last batch I specifically bought from chewy hasn’t been as reliable.

Perfect for my project

I actually purchased this sea glass to use in a glass hurricane around a candle. Look great.

Not as pictured/Dangerous

Ordered the “sage green.” Arrived and product is definitely a blue, not green. Although, it doesn’t actually match photos of an colors they sell. There are tons of very small shards included. Absolutely would not use in a fish tank

Beautiful! Love sea glass.

This seaglass is beautiful in my tank. There were a few sharp edges, so be careful when rinsing. It gives a nice visual interest to the tank. This bag had way more in it than I thought it would.

pretty blue aquarium glass

my order arrived quickly and looks great in my 2.5Gallon tank - best replacement for the sand I had been using as this will make tank maintenance easier.

Very attractive

Added this sea glass to my new aquarium and it is very attractive. Smooth for my bristle nose pleco to lay on and to dig in for food.
