Description

Petcurean hand-selected the farmers, growers and fishers that provide the ingredients for Gather Free Acres Organic Free-Run Chicken Dry Dog Food. They kicked the dirt in their fields, inspected their farms, and stood on their boats to make sure your canine companion gets only the best possible nutrition available. To make this food, they gathered sustainably-raised, open-pasture organic chicken, and combined that with non-GMO vegetables like organic peas, lentils, blueberries and cranberries. The result is a complete and balanced dog food that’s highly nutritious, highly palatable, and completely free of any antibiotics, added growth hormones, by-products, or artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.

Key Benefits
  • Certified organic, free-run chicken is the very first ingredient, and the single source of meat protein, in this highly palatable premium-quality food.
  • Non-GMO vegetables including organic peas, lentils, blueberries and cranberries deliver additional nutrition, antioxidants and flavor.
  • Sustainably harvested krill provides EPA and DHA fatty acids to support strong heart and brain function as well as healthy skin and coat.
  • Fortified with essential vitamins and minerals to provide complete and balanced nutrition for adult dogs.
  • Completely free of any antibiotics, added growth hormones, by-products, corn, wheat, soy or artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.

The amount of food your dog needs will vary depending on breed, activity level, age and climate. Use our feeding chart as a guide, adjusting the quantity fed to achieve your dog’s ideal weight. We suggest feeding twice a day. Provide fresh, clean water at all times. Regular exercise will help maintain a healthy body weight. Love, attention and tummy rubs should be given freely, as often as possible.

Transition Instructions

The transition period should be at minimum, ten days and could take upwards of two weeks, depending on your pet’s sensitivity to change. On day one, introduce 10% new food and 90% old food. Keep the food at this ratio for two or more days. Next, increase the ratio to 20% new food and 80% old food for two or more days. Repeat increasing in increments of 10% until you’re feeding 100% of the new food. If your pet experiences any kind of digestive upset during this time, try slowing down the process to let his or her digestive tract adjust to the new food. Some vomiting and/or diarrhea can be normal when introducing new foods as the digestive process and the naturally occurring bacteria your pet’s body requires is a complex and delicate system. If you experience any vomiting and/or diarrhea, be sure to reduce the amount of new food the next time you feed and overall, slow the whole transition period down even more.

  • Great food for sensitive stomach

    By on

My dog , lab/amstaff, sometimes gets really bad GI upset for unknown reasons when introducing something new...some things she is fine with...others not so much and I often just let it go its course, but I have yet to find a cause other than some things might just be too rich for her sensitive stomach. But this food has been great so far. I love the ingredients. She is an enthusiastic eater so i can't say she is finicky, but this food sure does agree with her system. Along with a new probiotic, her system has mellowed out quite a bit and I thank the Lord we are often to an even diet. If i had to pick a dog food outside of making it myself, which i don't have time to do, after much research, this one is one of my top choices. … more

  • Raw fed dog didn't care for it.

    By on

I bought this for my dog when we traveled across country to visit family. He is usually raw fed but I needed something more convenient for the long the trip. I decided to buy this because of quality ingredients and my cat loves the cat food version. My dog didn't care for this but it could be because he is not use to eating bag dog food. He didn't eat it at all along the road trip. Once we arrived at our destination I had to buy (organic) can food and (organic) can pumpkin to mix with this and he ate it. I have most of the bag left now that we are home and I suppose I'll stick it in the deep freezer, not sure what I will do with it. I wasted $80 on this bad judgement call. • Replaces Orijen

    By on

A good, healthy food low in heavy metals and other pollutants. Our 8 year old Lab dog moved easily and happily from Orijen (after they started to produce their food in Kentucky) to Gather. Positive: Smell is clean. Great content, healthy & organic. Stools don’t stink. Negative: The price is very high The bag’s seal could be improved. If you don’t mail order, it can be difficult to source/buy due to small distribution.
