When transitioning to a new pet food, do so slowly over a period of about 7-10 days, mixing an increasing amount of new food with old food each day: Start with 75% old food mixed with 25% new food for approximately three days. Then mix 50% old with 50% new for approximately three days
Great topper. I put over kibble for my 50 lb Olive. She loves it. Quiet company but I love there food
My dogs love this stuff! KoKo the 11 year old chocolate lab hops with excitement when she knows I'm putting some over her food. Nana the picky mutt eats as soon as her bowl is served.
The German Shepherd I am caring for really liked this food, although it is a bit on the expensive side. The texture is like a pate.
Took a chance and ordered the Gentle Giants 90% Salmon for my finicky Tibetan Terrier and she loves it. Thank you Chewy for such a good product!
I ordered this food because it listed broth as the second ingredient and I wanted a wet food that used broth to keep it's moisture, not water. But the can lists "water" as the second ingredient. I'm very unhappy with this false information. I don't know if they changed the formula or what, but this needs to be updated.
Great recipe 90% salmon w No animal byproducts. Pups GC numbers have adjusted well & he Loves it!
This stuff is terrible. I bought a case along with Gentle Giant's turkey recipe, and both my dog and my cat, who steals the dog's food, would eat around the salmon and only touch the turkey. It's completely dry, to the point that I think I may have gotten a bad batch. Throwing out half the case. Don't buy this.
I read the reviews before I purchased for my dogs. I was a little apprehensive as some said it was dry and their dogs didn't like it. I took a chance and tried it, they loved it. It does look dry, a little like paste and like other reviews say not a smell of fish. I thought it might not go over well but was pleasantly surprised that they both dug right in!! Going by their reaction I will say it must have tasted good.
I am a salmon lover, actually salmon, sardines, steelhead, etc, so when I opened the can I was a little surprised that there wasn't any smell of salmon, even my wife who can't stand the smell of any fish, excluding the white bland varieties said she could not detect the smell of fish, seems a little odd, but then, to give Gentle Giants the benefit of the doubt, because I believe in their products I just wrote it off as some of the other ingredients perhaps canceling out the odors, after all some folks probably wouldn't buy it at all were it too fishy smelling. And my dogs absolutely love salmon, I actually give them the canned pink salmon when I can find it on sale, as it's not much more than the canned dog food. And that is why the 3 stars instead of the 5, they just didn't go at it like I thought they would something 90% salmon. And last but not least, the bottom of the inside of the can looks funny, there a residual dark brown look to it. Oh well.
I have a feral-born dog who allergic to everything from beef, chicken, trout, and pork to potatoes and brewer's yeast. This food is awesome!! No itchiness, no licking, beautiful coat, awesome energy at 10 years old, practically no signs of his previously-severe arthritis, and perfect poop. It doesn't get much better than that. (I am feeding this and The Honest Kitchen Grain-Free Fruit & Vege Mix plus Advita.)
