Does this need replacements filters or can you just clean a permanent filter?

Replace filter and/or UV-C Bulb to maintain product performance according to Manufacturer's recommendations per product manual.

This filter is compatible with the "Germ Guardian FLT5250PT HEPA Air Purifier Replacement Filter C", which we carry on this site.

How do I replace the Uv light

To replace the UV light bulb, first turn off and unplug the unit. Press the lock and release the button and remove the rear cover from the unit. Remove the combination filter. Use a Philips head screwdriver to remove 2 screws and detach the UV-C Metal Shield. The UV-C Bulb is removed by carefully grasping the bulb with a clean cloth or tissue and pulling the bulb straight out of the unit. The UV-C Bulb is reinstalled by sliding it, horizontally, back into the slots at the top of the unit.

11/16/21 Does chewy sell the Bulbs to replace on these filters?

Air purifier

I guess it is doing a good job. I have it in the bedroom and I seem to be sleeping better when it is on. Nice size. Easy to move around.

Musty stale air

This product is fantastic for removing odors from my kitchen and living room. I have it placed near the doorway and run it most of the day. It is very quiet as well, no need to turn the tv up to mask the noise at all.
