Feeding Instructions

Prepared liquid milk replacer should be refrigerated. One 6-oz can of powder makes approximately 30-oz of liquid when mixed 1:2.

Newborn Kittens:

Mix powder with water. Warm liquid to at least room temperature, but no warmer than 100 degrees F. Test liquid on your wrist prior to feeding to be sure that temperature is not too hot. Healthy kitten grow rapidly and their nutritional needs change as they grow. To ensure adequate feeding, weight your kitten 3 times per week. Depending on your kitten's weight, you will need to increase or decrease the amount of milk replacer in order to meet your kitten's individual nutritional needs. Calculate your kitten's total nutritional needs per day. Mix enough milk replacer for an entire day and feed equal amounts of milk replacer every 8 hours. Small and/or weak kittens should be fed equal amounts of milk replacer every 3-4 hours. If your kitten is old enough to lap, milk replacer can be given in a shallow container.

Daily Feeding Amount: Feed your kitten 2 tablespoons of liquid milk replacer for every 4-oz of body weight daily. For example, a 1-lb kitten should be fed 8 tablespoons of liquid milk replacer daily. If feeding the kitten every 8 hours, give 40-mL (approximately 2 1/2 tablespoons) of liquid at each feeding; if feeding the kitten every 3-4 hours, give 15-20 mL (approximately 1 1/4 tabelspoons) of liquid at each feeding.

Growing Kittens (post weaning), Show Cats and/or Convalescing Cats: Feed 1 teaspoon of the milk replacer powder for every 5 pounds of body weight daily by top dressing food.

Pregnant and Lactating Queens: Feed 2 teaspoons of the milk replacer powder for every 5 pounds of body weight daily by top dressing food.

Add milk replacer powder to warm water in a 1:2 ratio as described above (for example, add 1 tablespoon of powder to 2 tablespoons of water). Stir gently until mixed well. Do not use a blender to mix.

Storage

Unopened powder should be stored in a cool, dry place. Reconstituted milk replacer must be kept refrigerated for up to 24 hours. Opened powder must be refrigerated for up to 3 months, or can be frozen for up to 6 months to preserve freshness.

    Thumbs Up - Four Stars

    By on

My two rescued kittens have grown stronger, having so much energy - it's as if they are drinking caffeine instead of Ultra Mega Premium Milk Replacer. They are now eight weeks old, yet I plan on keeping them on formula at least twice a day - along with a regular, healthy diet. The only complaint I have is the powder does not fully dissolve, leaving lumps in the milk. That's why I'm rating it four stars. Other than that, I do recommend this product.
