Feeding Instructions

Adult: Feed about 1 1/2 cans per 6 - 8 lbs body weight per day Kitten: Feed up to 2x the amount as Adults to kittens Gestation and Lactation: Feed up to 3x the normal Adult amount

Feed at room temperature and refrigerate unused portion. Always provide access to clean, fresh water. The amount of food your cat requires will depend on activity level, age, breed of cat, and climate.

Transition Instructions

The transition period should be at minimum, ten days and could take upwards of two weeks, depending on your pet’s sensitivity to change. On day one, introduce 10% new food and 90% old food. Keep the food at this ratio for two or more days. Next, increase the ratio to 20% new food and 80% old food for two or more days. Repeat increasing in increments of 10% until you’re feeding 100% of the new food. If your pet experiences any kind of digestive upset during this time, try slowing down the process to let his or her digestive tract adjust to the new food. Some vomiting and/or diarrhea can be normal when introducing new foods as the digestive process and the naturally occurring bacteria your pet’s body requires is a complex and delicate system. If you experience any vomiting and/or diarrhea, be sure to reduce the amount of new food the next time you feed and overall, slow the whole transition period down even more.

I followed the feeding guidelines on your packaging, but my pet is too fat/thin. Why?

Feeding Guidelines are simply a place to start. You should increase or decrease the amount you feed based on your pet’s activity level and weight.

Are the ingredients used in Petcurean products “human-grade”?

All of our fresh meat and meat meal ingredients are sourced from animals passed fit for human consumption by the CFIA. The fruits and vegetables used in our recipes also come from the human food chain. We do not, however, claim that our ingredients are “human-grade”; once an individual ingredient leaves a “human-grade” processing facility and enters a “pet food” processor, the ingredient loses its “human-grade” classification.

What is an organic ingredient?

A certified organic ingredient provides a guarantee that the ingredient has met strict government standards for how food is grown, handled and processed; using organic agricultural methods. Organic agriculture focuses on farming practices that encourage soil and water conservation and regeneration, and reduces pollution. Organic farmers use natural fertilizers and pest control methods to benefit the soil, plants and animals for a healthy environment.

Where are your products made?

Petcurean dry pet foods are produced in Ontario, Canada. Our canned products are primarily produced in Ontario, Canada and secondarily at a plant in New Jersey, USA. Our SPIKE Jerky Treats are manufactured in Gainsville, Georgia and our SPIKE Treat Bars are made in Brampton, Ontario. We are 100% China free for processing and ingredient sourcing. None of our meat proteins, grains, cereals, fruits and vegetables in any of our recipes are processed in China, and none of our ingredients are sourced in China.

Do you use wheat gluten, or rice protein concentrate in any of your recipes?

No. Glutens from wheat and rice protein concentrate are an inferior source of protein and we prefer to use only premium sources of protein (in the form of meat, poultry and fish).

What is a meal (i.e. chicken meal)?

Fresh meat is converted into a meat meal by a third party using a cooking process. This process removes the water from the meat and allows pet food manufacturers to add meat meal as a dry ingredient. Meat meals are used in

    My cat loves it

I had been looking for a different brand of canned food when a friend recommended this. My cat does not like change, but he took to this quickly, and he likes it combined with the Chicken Stew. I am happy that the label says BPA-free. If it were not for the guar gum in the ingredients, I would have given this 5 stars.

    Healthy stew for some cats

    By on

My cat loves stews, however he did not taste this item. It had the right texture and the ingredients appear to be beneficial for cats. I’m not sure why there is banana in the can, but it might be somehow good for cats. It is an expensive food item that can go wasted with some finicky cats. However, I have read great reviews and information about this brand.

    My cats love it!

While we've been using the Petcurean brand of canned cat food for awhile now, this is the first time we've tried this 'stew' instead of our usual pate. Our 2 cats went crazy for this one, and I think they love eating the chunks versus the pate. Looks and smells good, healthy, and our cats love it. Will definitely add this into our permanent rotation.

Mine didn't care for the stew

    By on

very good quality food, but I mis-read the can and wanted the pate. This stew is in chunks with bits of potato, and my guys have never liked chunk style.

    Another winner

    By on Top 50 Contributor

I am a huge fan of Petcurean cat foods and I wasn't disappointed with this flavor. All 7 of my cats loved it. I do limit the amount of fish I give them but the addition of trout gives me another good choice to give them some variety in a good quality food.

    Good Quality food

    By on

I ordered this food after reading the ingredients list and this is good food. I did not pay attention to the texture of the food and as it turned out, the blue can is small chunks in gravy which my cat does not like, he does like the pink can which is salmon pate.

    My cats are happy

    By on

Took time to change both cats to wet food. Vet's suggestion. It was distressing. They are very happy with this food. Better prices thru Chewy than buying from the vet. Thanks.
