The amount of food your cat needs will vary depending on breed, activity level, age and climate. Use our feeding chart as a guide, adjusting the quantity fed to achieve your cat’s ideal weight. We suggest feeding twice a day, kittens more often. Provide fresh, clean water at all times. Love, attention, playtime and chin scratches should be given freely, as often as possible. Pregnant/lactating females: increase intake by 50%.

Transition Instructions

It’s important to slowly transition your pet to a new food so their system has a chance to adapt to the change. The transition period should be at minimum, 10 days and could take upwards of 2 weeks, depending on your pet’s sensitivity to change. On day one, introduce 10% new food / 90% old food. Keep the food at this ratio for 2 or more days. Next, increase the ratio to 20% new food / 80% old food for 2 or more days. Repeat increasing in increments of 10% until you’re feeding 100% of the new food. If your pet experiences any kind of digestive upset during this time, try slowing down the process to let his/her digestive tract adjust to the new food. Some vomiting and/or diarrhea can be normal when introducing new foods as the digestive process and the naturally occurring bacteria your pet’s body requires is a complex and delicate system. If you experience any vomiting and/or diarrhea, be sure to reduce the amount of new food the next time you feed and overall, slow the whole transition period down even more.

I followed the feeding guidelines on your packaging, but my pet is too fat/thin. Why?

Feeding Guidelines are simply a place to start. You should increase or decrease the amount you feed based on your pet’s activity level and weight.

Are the ingredients used in Petcurean products “human-grade”?

All of our fresh meat and meat meal ingredients are sourced from animals passed fit for human consumption by the CFIA. The fruits and vegetables used in our recipes also come from the human food chain. We do not, however, claim that our ingredients are “human-grade”; once an individual ingredient leaves a “human-grade” processing facility and enters a “pet food” processor, the ingredient loses its “human-grade” classification.

What is an organic ingredient?

A certified organic ingredient provides a guarantee that the ingredient has met strict government standards for how food is grown, handled and processed; using organic agricultural methods. Organic agriculture focuses on farming practices that encourage soil and water conservation and regeneration, and reduces pollution. Organic farmers use natural fertilizers and pest control methods to benefit the soil, plants and animals for a healthy environment.

  • Something's Fishy Here!

    By on

My cat does seem to like this food but will only eat it if he has no other options. So we've been leaving a bowl of this dry food out at night in case he wants a snack. It does have quite a pungent fish smell to it. However, I believe that's indicative of the natural ingredients and freshness of the product. I will definitely buy this again as I like the ingredients that are in it as well as those that are not part of the recipe.

  • Amazing cat dry food

    By on

As I transported this bag of dry food, my cat could smell how delicious it is. He is all over sniffing the bag. The food seems to be crunchy and comes in smaller pieces. Since chewy no longer provides Orijen, I am opt for Go which is another quality Canadian brand.

  • My 3 Cats Love It....

you can smell the fish when you open the bag and the cats love it. they did not come running for their previous food. I like the smaller kibble as it is more easily digested.

  • Good choice

    By on

With 3 foster kittens I needed to find a good quality food to mix with the orijen kitten food to help bring down the cost a bit. My kittens were a little hesitate at first but after a few days they loved it!!

  • Disappointed

    By on

I was super excited for this food as the ingredients seem to be really good, however, the kibble is extremely small and my cats barely eat it. Unfortunately, I will have to find a different food.

  • She totally digs it!

    By on

My kitty did not like the turkey and duck recipe, but she really LOVES this one! I should have guessed that because she has always been a big fan of fish. I began feeding her a combination of wet and dry food for the past 6 months and she typically eats all of her wet food first and reluctantly eats her dry food. With this new recipe, I drop the kibbles into her bowl and she comes running :)

  • Yum Yum!

    By on

I adopted two male cats in November. My fussy boys didn't take to this food immediately as they'd been eating, gulp, Friskies! After their strike which, lasted about a week. they started gobbling down the sensitive stomach GO, especially Gordo, who tends to be a vacuum cleaner. He's what they call a tree climber (longer back legs). Big Fella! This food is a keeper and will go onto bi-monthly mailing.

Our cat and our fosters have loved this food. We haven't had a single problem. It has a fishy smell which is a definite plus for the cats, they love the "fresh" fish smell when we put another scoop in their bowl:)
