The amount of food your cat needs will vary depending on breed, activity level, age and climate. Use our feeding chart as a guide, adjusting the quantity fed to achieve your cat’s ideal weight.

We suggest feeding twice a day, kittens more often. Provide fresh, clean water at all times. Love, attention, playtime and chin scratches should be given freely, as often as possible.

Pregnant/lactating females: increase intake by 50%.

Transition Instructions

It’s important to slowly transition your pet to a new food so their system has a chance to adapt to the change. The transition period should be at minimum, 10 days and could take upwards of 2 weeks, depending on your pet’s sensitivity to change. On day one, introduce 10% new food / 90% old food. Keep the food at this ratio for 2 or more days. Next, increase the ratio to 20% new food / 80% old food for 2 or more days. Repeat increasing in increments of 10% until you’re feeding 100% of the new food. If your pet experiences any kind of digestive upset during this time, try slowing down the process to let his/her digestive tract adjust to the new food. Some vomiting and/or diarrhea can be normal when introducing new foods as the digestive process and the naturally occurring bacteria your pet’s body requires is a complex and delicate system. If you experience any vomiting and/or diarrhea, be sure to reduce the amount of new food the next time you feed and overall, slow the whole transition period down even more.

I followed the feeding guidelines on your packaging, but my pet is too fat/thin. Why?

Feeding Guidelines are simply a place to start. You should increase or decrease the amount you feed based on your pet’s activity level and weight.

Are the ingredients used in Petcurean products “human-grade”?

All of our fresh meat and meat meal ingredients are sourced from animals passed fit for human consumption by the CFIA. The fruits and vegetables used in our recipes also come from the human food chain. We do not, however, claim that our ingredients are “human-grade”; once an individual ingredient leaves a “human-grade” processing facility and enters a “pet food” processor, the ingredient loses its “human-grade” classification.

What is an organic ingredient?

A certified organic ingredient provides a guarantee that the ingredient has met strict government standards for how food is grown, handled and processed; using organic agricultural methods. Organic agriculture focuses on farming practices that encourage soil and water conservation and regeneration, and reduces pollution. Organic farmers use natural fertilizers and pest control methods to benefit the soil, plants and animals for a healthy environment.

Smell awful, cats won't touch it

    By on

Upon opening the box with the food in it, I noticed it had an awful smell. My thought was, "I hope that isn't the cat food." It was. When I opened the bag, it turned my stomach. But knowing that things smell different to cats, I offered them a small bowl of it. Neither one would come within a foot of it. I tried different things to get them to at least taste it. Nothing worked. I left it sitting for a few days. Was never touched.

    Good food!

    By on

So far this has been a good buy. The food is great quality and the company has been great to work with when I have called with questions. My only gripe is...I wish it had a tiny bit more fiber. We are still on our first bag of this food and I intend on continuing to purchase. I will never understand why websites want you to to review a food after a week from first purchase. Time will tell.

    Not just for cats

    By on

I bought this to add to the kibble mix for our ferrets. They imprint on their food so you have to be tricky and take your time adding it in very slowly. When mixing the food they were helping and very curious about the new bag. I put a few pieces out and they started eatting it right away!

Great!! New kitties always left empty bowl

    By on

Top animal source ingredients -chk; high protein -chk; brand recall history -chk; cat owner reviews in forums -chk; no misleading claims such as “no by-product” (raw cats eat by product), or “no grains” but uses lots legume/starchy veggie -chk; finally - kitties approved!! Packaging: love the resealable band design! Ingredients and instructions came in 8 languages!! I will still explore other options including raw and homemade, but for now I will stick to this brand. Oh! Note that the new packaging/formula has 2% less protein.

    Too Many Fillers

    By on Top 500 Contributor

When I first adopted Momo, the shelter highly advices that I feed her a grain free diet. And so, Petcurean was one of the brands I got for her. She was not thrilled about it. She would rather eat some other type of kibble. I also noticed that her stool smelled more prominent when she was on a grain free diet. This product in particular contains many fillers I personally do not wish to feed my cat including legumes and potatoes. After feeding this to all three of my cats and seeing how they were not thriving on it, I decided to switch to another brand.

    Cat is liking it

    By on

After the quality of Orijen’s Regional Red went down when they moved their plant from Canada to USA, I was looking for good quality dry food to supplement Callie Ann’s wet food. Go! Was popular among former Regional Red buyers. Callie seems to like it much better. I mix it with Dr. Elsey’s food—I think she likes that even better, but I’ll continue with the mixture for now.

    Health food for your pets!

    By on

I recently discovered Petcurean Go for dogs and cats while working at a friends pet boutique. I had been feeding my cats, Hill's Science Diet for about 20 years as per my veterinarian's recommendation. However, as with my own health, I'm trying to help my cats live a healthier and longer life. When I compared the ingredients of the Petcurean Go for cats, specifically the turkey duck recipe, with the Hill's Science Diet, it was amazing to me how many fillers were in Hill's Science Diet instead of meat and protein. Since cats are carnivores, they do not need vegetables or fillers, they have a diet that is strictly meat. Since cats are carnivores, they do not need vegetables or fillers, they have a diet that is strictly meat. Petcurean fills this nutrition need much better than Hill's Science Diet in my opinion. However, since it does still contain some vegetables for vitamin supplementation ( according to the rep that I spoke to at Petcurean), I am only giving it 4 stars. There are some other foods out there, that contain as much protein, and less fillers, but I could not afford those. So the Petcurean food, is a good balance between nutrition and my budget. By the way, I have three cats, two that are over 10 and one that is 3 years old. As soon as I introduced them to the Petcurean, they gobbled it up, with no digestive issues or refusals to eat. They love it! They've only been on it now about 6 months, but I am hoping that this will improve their nutrition, and longevity. With Hill's Science Diet, I lost many cats over the years, always to kidney disease, I have to believe that it was their food. Do some research, as I did, and you will see that there are a great many pet foods out there, but not all are created equal. … more

    Little itty bitty bits

    By on

I switched my cats over to this food after reading on a blog that it was well rated for quality ingredients and balanced nutrition. They didn't seem to have any issues with the food switch and are eating this food. I guess by cat standards, that means the food is good. The only issue I have is that the kibbles are really tiny - tinier than I have seen in cat food. They get everywhere and make a mess.

    Cata and vet love it

    By on

Both my cats love this food. They have the softest, shiny fur and are full of energy. Their vet even asked about their diet because their fur, teeth, and muscle tone all looked so good. The kibble is very small and can make a mess but I am really happy with this food.
