Finally, one more food my dog can digest

    By on

I raw feed all of my dogs. I have one dog that has a small intestial disease & has a hard time absorbing & digesting food. He has allerigies to MANY things & several proteins as well. I found that he reacts well to this food & can actually digest it too. I feed & rotate him on raw sources of rabbit, beef, green tripe, white fishes (things he can eat with no problems). Now. I have one more protein & food source to add to his limited arsenal of food choices. Its not what I consider FULLY RAW, but, it is a good food to consider for times when one is limited in proteins (like my unique situation...your dog might not be like mine though, as they are ALL different in terms of needs). Great for traveling, or if you need a break from preparing raw or cooked meals too. I thought it would make my dog gassy from the pinto beans, but, to my surprise, no flatuance AT ALL! LOVE that it has coconut & other good healthy foods added as well! Oh, my dog LOVES the food too, but, I in no way have picky eaters either. 5*** for my unique experience! … more

Not a favorite of both dogs...

    By on

I love the idea of freeze dried food, taking less space and maintaining freshness. However, I have a small male dog who eats everything and this food was fine for him, but the other dog who is a large breed female barely at it. Half was left in the dish which is really hard to scrape out once it dries to the sides of the dish. The texture seems kind of runny if you use the amount of liquid on the package, and it is very small bites of food, not really chunky. I look for another recipe instead of the salmon and see if they like that better.

    Raw made easy

    By on

Overall, this food is great quality. I bought this for my sickly senior dog, which happens to also be extremely picky. I tried The Honest Kitchen, which I like, but she wouldn't eat it even if I cut up some meat and added it. She will eat this food if I add some cut up raw catfish, cod or Stella and chewy's freeze dried nuggets. Her allergy symptoms are finally improving thanks to the limited, high quality, ingredients. My only complaint is the lack of meat, so I treat this more like a pre-mix.

Excellant, healthy and very cost efficient for your dog

    By on

This is the first time my dog had freeze dried dog food. I always gave him Kibbles but after reading all the bad things about kibbles and can food with their additives etc and dogs need moisture in their food which kibbles has none, i tried the freeze dried since the the raw diet is a little hard but he gets time to time. Took a few days for my dog to get adjusted mixed it with a little bit of kibbles and after a few days all great he loves it will never go back to kibbles

My 2 little dogs enjoy this.......but!

    By on

My two little dogs enjoy Macanna, however, for me, I prefer the product to be not so ground up. I previously used a different brand that hydrated into a recognizable food. This one is too pasty for me but my dogs like it and that is what counts.
