Transition Instructions
Gradually transition your pet to any new food over the course of 7-14 days to help avoid the digestive upset that abrupt changes in diet can cause. If your pet tends to be on the sensitive side, it may be best to take a little extra time.
1. Start by feeding your pet a mix of 25% new food and 75% old food for the first few days.
2. Then, increase the amount of new food to about 50% and feed that half-and-half mix for a few days.
3. Proceed to feeding 75% new food/25% old food for the next few days.
4. Complete the transition by feeding just the new food on its own.
Solution-based feeding is the focus for all Grandma Lucy’s recipes. Each nutritious freeze-dried formula is made using only wholesome, minimally processed ingredients.
Ingredients with a Purpose
It takes high-quality ingredients to produce high-quality food. That’s why Grandma Lucy’s uses only the highest quality ingredients from trusted suppliers and farms. Pureformance recipes are perfect for all breeds and life stages—feed them as a main meal, topper or as an addition to any homemade treat!
Family Values
Grandma Lucy’s is a company that cares. They care about pets, they care about nutrition, and they care about ingredients. They also care about giving, and they care about getting it all done right.
How Freeze-Drying Works
The freeze-drying process used by Grandma Lucy’s removes 92% of the water in the ingredients, leaving a food that is lightweight, compact, shelf-stable and preservative-free. Compared to other drying processes like dehydration or air drying, freeze-drying is better at retaining the characteristics of raw food. It preserves more flavor and keeps much of the food’s original texture after reconstitution.
95% Whole Muscle and Organ Meats
Lightly braised and paired with nutrient-rich foods like kale, beets and pumpkin, Moxie provides a convenient alternative to raw diets.
High Protein, Low Carbohydrate
Savory Moxie recipes work as excellent standalone meals, or as nutrient-dense toppers that are a great addition to any existing diet.
Award Winning
Minimally processed, protein-rich Chicken and Beef recipes are excellent for active dogs. They are all-natural, grain-free and made with fruits, vegetables, vitamins and minerals.
Quality You Can Trust
Moxie recipes never include by-products, meals, preservatives, added hormones, antibiotics, or feed-grade or animal-grade ingredients.
Muscle & Organ Meats
Only lightly braised, minimally processed whole muscle and organ meats are used, with no meat meals or by-products.
All Natural
Minimally processed ingredients with added vitamins and minerals make these all-natural recipes naturally nutritious.
Grain-Free
Palatable, digestible and perfect for all life stages, these recipes are made without any grain.

Every Simple Replacement recipe is made in small batches at Grandma Lucy’s Southern California facility.
About Grandma Lucy’s
Grandma Lucy’s began when founders Breann & Eric Shook started their quest for safe, healthy dog treats. Their 11-year old English Cocker Spaniel, Lucy, had developed food allergies that prevented her from eating most treats, and as they learned what was in pet food, they were surprised at the inferior ingredient quality. After consulting with vets and nutritionists, they started home cooking Lucy’s meals and treats, and what resulted was the basis for the healthy pet foods they make today.
None of my cats liked this, it stays like hard gravel in red juice when reconstituted. I even tried twice, the second time I tried to break up the hard lumps to get them softened. The results were smaller hard gravel-like lumps. They won't touch it and I don't blame them.

My feline didn’t even try it
My feline usually eats everything and begs for more but something about this food is not convincing. Looks like cardboard and when you add water it turns awkwardly bright red.

Very decent food
Our cats have been eating and enjoying Moxie for a week or two. It's hard to find a good, basic food like this! We feed it rehydrated and I make sure to crush the pieces as much as possible so the food can absorb plenty of water. (The only downside is that some of the pieces are pretty large and difficult to break up. But I persist!) I use very warm water (almost hot) and then put the food in the refrigerator overnight so it's ready for breakfast. I'd love to have more fish-free cat food options like this from Grandma Lucy's.

What Happened?????
I have 4 cats with 4 different taste temperaments. I tried sprinkling the freeze dried version of Moxie over their wet food. Nothing. Then I reconstituted it according to the directions. You know the stink-face that cats do in reaction to something that smells nasty? That was the first reaction. Needless to say, we won’t be buying this version. The chicken is great! It’s like crack for cats.

my cat’s not a fan
Figured that I might try FD food with veggies but it’s a nono for my cat. Mixing with other food (FD/Raw) both did not help. Also the bag I received are mostly in powdery form although you can rehydrate the crumbled pieces but still, not gonna buy again.
P.S. it comes with a scoop which does help

My dog LIKED it but
When i searched ‘by dog’ for Moxie, somehow the Turkey flavor showed up. I bought it because i thought it was for dogs. I just found out after serving it to him tonight, it was for cats. Well he ate it. He likes Moxie for Dogs, but he’s only ever had chicken and beef flavor. Well my dog liked it. I’ll prob feed him it again. Too bad I can’t get a big bag of it.
I will say that there doesn’t seem to be a lot of meat in it like the dog ones do. So if you’re cat is a meat eater, what i saw in my bag is mostly minced stuff - prob the veggies. Smelled great though.

Good ingredients, Works for my cats sensitive stomach
My cat has a history of sensitive stomach issues. This is something he actually loves that does not upset his stomach. Bonus: the ingredients do not include starchy fillers, which is always a concern for limited ingredient or grain-free foods.

Too much veggies
I don't know if I received a weird batch, but this food looks like it's mostly made out of veggies - especially dried beet. My cats won't eat it at all, whether it's dry or with added water (which I prefer for them). I like the ingredient list, which is why I give 2 stars, but this bag was a waste of money in our case.
