    Great nutrition!

    By on

After a cancer surgery for our beagle, my veterinarian asked me to closely review her diet. She asked if I could cook all her meals. A busy Mom with many companion animals, I looked for dehydrated meals. I found this one and my dogs love it. It is easy to fix and fits all the criteria of a home cooked meal.

    Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am what’s known in the dog food nerd world as a “rotator”, I feed a wide variety of foods. I use Grandma Lucy‘s product such as this instead of canned dog food, mixing half-and-half with kibble

    Great Food!

    By on

All 3 of my dogs LOVED this food! Way better and healthier than most kibbles out there. There’s even some fish chunks in there, it’s crazy! We used it in our camping trip and used a little on some hiking trips! 10/10 would recommend

    SO Much better than canned!

    By on Top 25 Contributor

I have an extremely picky standard poodle. Getting him to eat on schedule is very important because he is a Service Dog, trained to perform life saving medical alerts and responses, as well as provide mobility assistance to allow me more freedom, independence and dignity by not having to rely on another adult to help me into or out of a seated position or keep me from losing my balance while simply walking from one room to another. He is my fluffy hero, BUT, if he misses a meal, he can experience hunger nausea, causing him to vomit bile - understandable, but unwelcome in public spaces, especially grocery store or Doctor's offices! We have used several grandma Lucy's products for years now to I have an extremely picky standard poodle. He is my fluffy hero, BUT, if he misses a meal, he can experience hunger nausea, causing him to vomit bile - understandable, but unwelcome in public spaces, especially grocery store or Doctor's offices! We have used several grandma Lucy's products for years now to make "gravy" for his high quality kibble to entice him to eat. Just 1/4 cup mixed with 1/2 cup water provides the perfect amount and consistency of fresh "gravy" for a 1.5 cup serving of kibble, so a 3lb bag lasts us several months! He is a particular fan of fish (he LOVED Grandma Lucy's fish Valor formula which is sadly no longer available in 3lb bags (only 10lb) so we decided to try this Grandma Lucy's formula for the first time and it was a gold medal winner! We dislike using canned foods because they are highly processed, greatly reducing their nutritional value and pathogen, foreign object, vitamin overdose and other recalls on even the best brands are becoming far too common. With minimally processed, freeze dried whole foods, we know he is getting the safest, highest quality nutrition available and it solves the problem of him not wanting to eat his breakfast on a day when I know we'll be out for quite a while - too long for him to have an empty stomach! It also prevents us from waking up in the wee hours to a 65 lb, heaving poodle on our bed because he wouldn't eat his dinner! We do rotate foods (both dry kibbles ad freeze dried) to limit the possibility of developing food allergies and to prevent food boredom. This will definitely be a permanent addition to our rotation! We plan to try the rabbit formula next. … more

    Super food

Dogs go crazy for it! The whole chunks of fish in it is amazing. It is rated 5 stars on dog food advisor and that makes me happy.

    Great food

    By on

My senior dog is loving this food! It's easy to feed, rehydrates quickly, and does not have a strong fish odor like other brands I've tried. The resealable zipper makes it easy to store/use on a daily basis, and for a 15 lb terrier, this will last quite some time. It's also helped improve his skin and coat!

    Better than kibble

    By on

I feed my dogs raw and dehydrated food. I like the convenience and variety Grandma Lucy offers. It’s easy to store and doesn’t take up freezer space. Disappointed that the second ingredient in Grandma Lucy’s products is potato, chick pea or other legumes that dogs either don’t need or digest. That seems to be true of many dehydrated foods. I’m guessing it’s a cost issue.

    100% Unsatisfied

    By on

This is not the quality I expected from the description presented in the advertisement. My dog who will eat anything wouldn't take a bite of this food. It has very little fish and mostly peas and is ground to fine with absolutely no chunks at all, just mush. The smell worried me, rancid odor. Would love to exchange it if possible?

Didn't Go Over Well With The Pups

    By on

My dogs wouldn't eat this at all. I made the solution thicker and thinner, and they just kept looking at me like it was some horrible trick. My vacuum cleaner dog tried to eat a few bites, but she was very not into it.
