  • High Quality, High Nutrition, Highly Dog Approved!!!

    By on Top 100 Contributor

This was purchased primarily for my high metabolism standard poodle who needs motivation to eat even the highest quality, highest meat content, tastiest of kibbles! We also use it in the morning for two high metabolism toy breeds, one young, one aging and picky about his food and needs all the nutrition he can get as he is in the beginning stages of congestive heart failure. As this is a high calorie food with an excellent nutrition profile, it's perfect for all of these issues. We use it as a "gravy" for high quality, grain free, 5 star kibble that is also high calorie. We reconstitute it thinner than the food recommendation so that it simply coats the food well and thoroughly. Clean bowls and more filled out pups result! We have used several flavors of Grandma Lucy's Artisan Formula but i wanted to use something with more quality nutrition besides potato in it and also give them a change of pace. This was a winner. We'll be trying the fish version as well! … more

  • my doodle is not impressed

    By on

I have tried a few of the Valor foods and usually my 80# doodle will eat anything. But not this. I sent it to some friends who also have doodles, and they liked it one time, then would turn their noses up at this. So 3 of the local doodles do not like this food. Such a shame because now I have several opened bags and will probably give to the shelter. Good for them, but I am out of $$

  • Dogs love it!

    By on

The food ingredients are well balanced. I love the fact that even with traveling I can give my dogs a healthier raw diet. This variety seems to re-hydrate better than others. I am using one of Grandma Lucy's products as a base food, but still mixing in other brands and supplementing with my own to make sure they are eating healthy......new way of thinking!

  • Excellent for my Border Collie!

My 10 year old BC, Eddie, has been eating the Turkey and Fish flavors, one meal per day, for the last 7 months. He gets Nature's Variety Instinct raw patties (lamb or beef) for the other meal. He looks fantastic and the Grandma Lucy's food seems to have helped him shed a couple stubborn pounds that would not go away when he was on 50% kibble and 50% raw patties. He used to have issues with constipation and hard stool, but this food really seems to have helped that. I'm not sure if it's the additional moisture content or the extra fiber from the veggies and quinoa, or a combination of both, but he's very regular and happy now. His coat and teeth look fantastic and my vet is very happy with his overall health and well-being. I have recently added the Artisan Pork formula to his meal rotation, and he loves that too! He gets a different flavor every day and does well with a rotation diet - I wouldn't recommend this if your dog has an especially sensitive stomach, but some rotation is still good at least once a year for those sensitive dogs. He has never been picky, but in the beginning, he did seem a little confused by the wet consistency of the rehydrated food. Now he eats it as soon as the bowl is set down and is excited about meal time. I think he was just confused because the raw patties he gets for dinner can be inhaled in one gulp, and he has to take some time to lick this stuff out of the bowl to get it all. … more

  • Bummer

My dog usually eats anything. She took a couple of bites and refused to eat it. Smell is a bit of a turn off. Wish I bought one bag not two.

  • Great product, dogs love it..but watch potato content!

    By on

We began feeding whole food to our Brittany and English Setter 3 months ago. That has been overwhelming and we wanted to have something to feed along with the whole food (ground turkey, broccoli, sweet potatoes) we prepared. Especially since we are going to be traveling. This is a great product and appears as advertised. Pups LOVED it and so did we. Our only problem is apparently the second ingredient, potato, is too much for our Brit,, as he developed itching and what would have become a hot spot on his back. We thought it may be something in the field (bird hunting season here), but then realized symptoms began about a week into feeding the new food. Not only would I recommend the product as long as there is no potato sensitivity, but also, AS USUAL, CHEWY has come through with great customer service; this time, with a credit on the product that didn't work. … more

  • My raw/nearly-fed-raw dogs adore this product.

Easy to digest, very palatable, easy yard cleanup. Sadly, my elder dog (13+ years) who loved this product can no longer add her upraised paw to your rating. She was a hospice rescue who spent 2 years loving your products and chowing down.
