I don’t know what kind of grass makes “prairie hay” but I can’t tell if it’s supposed to be red or if this is just straight up brown. My rabbit doesn’t hate it but she doesn’t love it either. It’s okay. Not great. Just okay.

I have fed my rabbits Grandpa's Best Orchard grass hay before and it was really good hay. I wanted to give them some variety this time so I thought I would give the Prairie hay a chance. Never again. It's dusty and brown. My rabbits won't eat it and I have been using as a topper on the potty bedding just so I don't completely waste it.
Dusty & Unappetizing

I tried the Grandpa's Best Prairie Hay 10 lb mini bale for my somewhat picky lionhead rabbit and he completely turned his nose up at it. I don't blame him, because the hay is very dusty and seems to be pretty old. Maybe the bagged hay would be better than the compressed bale, but I don't want to try it and end up with something else my rabbit won't eat at all. Oh well, this experiment was a failure.

One of my Guinea pigs went to it almost immediately to start eating. Great choice to add a variety to their diet. The only downside is it comes out in sheets similar to Kaytee wafer cut, which my other pig will not touch.
I'll definitely buy it again though.

My rabbit loves this hay! High aroma, seems fresh. I swear she could smell it coming, she got so excited when I brought it to her. I will definitely be buying again.

2 happy guineas! My girls smell it and run for their bowl.
