    So far, very good!

    By on

I got this so that I could leave the back hatch open on my car when I'm parked at dog school (so I'm never far away). It's handy to be able to crate out of the car, parked in the shade, and my car is too small to hold crates in the back, but my dogs are happy in the back seat. I've had to tighten the vertical supports and the horizontal brackets as it settles into position and the vertical supports settle into the plastic feet, but so far it is the solution I was looking for. One of my dogs is a little anxious when left in the car, but he respects it. Note that I'm using it to keep my dogs in the back seat, with the back hatch open (opposite from the intended purpose as illustrated).

I would have given this a 5 star review, but set up is hard to do...That said, it works so well I ordered another for the second car

    Slippery and loosey

    By on

Once installed & tightened really well horizontal bars were easily slid down or up, bolts loosened pretty easily causing gate to slip forward & backward. plastic clamp around horizontal bar broke when horizontal bar got knocked. Overall I still use it, but I am looking for more secure and durable gate. Easier to install and remove too.

    Adjustable but noisy

    By on

Love the ability to extend and expand for the perfect fit to my car but the vertical posts holding the barrier in place have internal tubing that rattles while driving.

    Doesn’t work for stronger dogs

    By on

It’s not very well engineered and the bars block ability to tighen wing nuts properly. Wouldn’t recommend for large breed puppies or dogs determined to get in front seat. Our 5 month Labrador climbed through it. Chewy was great though and refunded the purchase. Thanks Chewy!! May work for smaller, less determined dogs.

    could use better parts

    By on

This would be better spring loaded. Putting in the back of an SUV with a third seat is quite a chore, as the threaded rods need to be down, so tightening is a bit difficult. The carriage screws with wing nuts is also a bad idea as the cross brackets block the wing nut from turning. I will replace these with hex head carriage bolts with lock nuts.

    Not crazy about it.

We have 2 large Shepherds, our boy is 137 and our baby girl is 86. So keeping her enclosed was not easy. The product was easy to assemble, but in the same token alittle flimsy. She just moved the bars up or down with ease. Not sure we are keeping it.

Okay, but puts pressure marks on headliner

    By on

This Pet barrier came unassembled, though my husband was easily able to put it together. It holds in place with pressure as you move the wing nut on the bottom and top of the vertical bars. Rather a pain on the fingers to twist to move. I have large SUVs, '99 & '17 Expedition, and the air vents are right in alignment with the vertical bars so had to move it back and decrease actual space for dog. Also, the pressure needed to keep it from falling over does leave marks on the headliner and could potentially compress the air ducts if I hadn't moved it back. Not a perfect fit and one size, though adjustable, does not fit all. Not overly thrilled with it.

    My Houdini

    By on

The Guardian Gear car barrier is very sturdy but no matter how tight the screws were my 70 lb. Golden was able to push down the horizontal bar and squeeze into the backseat of my SUV. (I can't pull up the bars to put back in place since screws are too tight for me to move the bar). My golden is Houdini!!Thank goodness I had a second barrier to block the opening to the front seat. Mind you this is my fourth car barrier. Maybe I can hire her out to test car barrier!!
