Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.

FAQ

Is canned food bad for my pet’s teeth?

No. While many vets recommend dry food to "keep teeth clean and healthy" it is a fact that many pets do not chew their food well enough to get any abrasive cleaning action from dry food. Whether you feed dry or canned food the single most important thing for dental health is tooth brushing.

Why does Halo refer to its products as natural?

Because it is! AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) defines "natural" pet food as having ingredients from ONLY plant, animal or mined sources. These foods cannot be highly processed or contain chemically synthetic ingredients, such as artificial flavors, preservatives or colorings.

Why does Halo refer to its products as holistic?

The holistic viewpoint that Halo has stems from the belief that health is achieved by focusing on the whole body through natural living. Halo believes that the quality of ingredients a pet eats is the foundation of overall well-being but that elimination of harsh chemicals from food, treats and the environment is also critical to achieve optimal health.

Why does Halo use so much egg and peas in their formulations?

Halo uses eggs and peas as an additional source of highly digestible protein to support protein levels in all formulations. Halo does not use meat meal as a concentrated source of dried protein and uses only whole real meat ingredients. It is more difficult to achieve very high protein levels when using whole real meat instead of a meat meal. We feel the eggs and peas are healthier alternatives to meat meal.

Why does Halo avoid rice and corn in their foods?

Halo defines corn and white rice as "fillers". These are carbohydrates that may raise blood sugar levels rapidly and create hormonal signals that may have negative long term effects on metabolism and weight gain. Corn and rice based diets may also contribute to chronic symptoms of maldigestion, such as gas, bloating, and diarrhea. Halo makes healthier carbohydrate choices by using whole grains such as barley and oats and vegetables like sweet potatoes. These carbohydrates are nutrient-dense because they supply energy as well as high levels of fiber for digestive health and high levels of vitamins and minerals for overall health.

About Halo Wet Cat Food

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

Halo is committed to providing no less than the best holistic recipes to satisfy your cat’s carnivorous cravings. Their wet cat food combines pure, natural ingredients like whole meat, poultry and fish plus non-GMO fruits and vegetables for delicious, more digestible meals. Following a whole meat philosophy, Halo never uses animal by-products or meat meals—just the real, whole proteins your cat needs to thrive.

Super Digestibility

Halo believes that whole meat equals a whole lot more digestibility. As obligate carnivores, cats need meat, not just parts of animals that you wouldn’t consider to be meat. When your pet gets whole proteins instead of rendered meats like chicken meal or fish meal, they’re getting optimum nutrition that’s easier for their body to digest. And that means they can get the full benefits of each nutrient-rich ingredient.

What's in Your Cat's Bowl?

With Halo, you won’t see a "meat meal" hiding anywhere in the ingredients, and there’s no corn, wheat, wheat gluten, rice or artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. Here’s what you will find:

Holistic Whole Protein: Salmon, whitefish, chicken or turkey that's slow-cooked provides a more digestible source of protein with up to 16 times less ash than rendered meat.

Non-GMO Produce: Fruits and vegetables from farms that refuse to use genetically modified seeds that rely heavily on chemical fertilizers and herbicides to produce crops.

    Shelter cats liked it.

I bought this to donate to a cat sanctuary, as it is their preferred food. Most like it and no one gets sick from it, as they did on another common brand. Worth the extra cost as none gets wasted.

    My cat loves Halo

Halo is the only cat food my cat will eat. Her coat is so shiny and she never gets sick. That says a lot about the nutritional content of the food. It even smells good to me!

    Not the right one

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

My finicky tabby gobbled the first can, but will not touch the rest. I even tried mixing it with her favorite treats. She picked the treats off and ignored the rest. Lol

    Wanted them to like it

    By on

I have to say that my three young sibling cats have tried many different wet and dry foods in my search to find a healthy, grain free, made in the US, but also reasonably priced choice for them and this was definitely not it. On occasion one of them has turned their nose to a different brand but this brand and this particular flavor made one of them walk away and not eat it at all, another one wil eat a few bites occasionally but really doesn’t like it and the third eats it’s all. Unfortunately my search will go on.

I’ve been feeding my cats the halo canned in whitefish flavor and wanted to give them a variety so tried this. They both liked it. I’ve been really happy with the Halo canned cat food and both cats like it.

    FYI, cats Do pout!

    By on

Our two fusspots have gotten obviously sick of pate (could almost hear them "sigh" in disgust as they plodded to their meals!) so I figured it was about time to change things up for them & order something chunky with gravy. Spot's Stew seemed to check all the boxes for us & I ordered both chicken/beef & lamb. Well, I'm not sure what part of the world Halo's marketing comes from, but what is in those cans is Not Stew! Tried the lamb last night to serious Grumbling (but they Did eat it). This morning two Very hungry cats woke me so I presented them with the chicken/beef combo & Whoa, dirty looks from cats first thing in the morning is not a good way to start the day! Chicken Beef Is My Cat's Favorite

    By on

My cat loves this flavor. She is picky, but she does love this one a lot. The only thing I don't like this is the packing, my cat doesn't have a big appetite, so I hope this flavor would have a smaller portion. But overall, she's happy with this food, so I'm happy.
