Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.
Is canned food bad for my pet’s teeth?
No. While many vets recommend dry food to "keep teeth clean and healthy" it is a fact that many pets do not chew their food well enough to get any abrasive cleaning action from dry food. Whether you feed dry or canned food the single most important thing for dental health is tooth brushing.
Why does Halo refer to its products as natural?
Because it is! AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) defines "natural" pet food as having ingredients from ONLY plant, animal or mined sources. These foods cannot be highly processed or contain chemically synthetic ingredients, such as artificial flavors, preservatives or colorings.
Why does Halo refer to its products as holistic?
The holistic viewpoint that Halo has stems from the belief that health is achieved by focusing on the whole body through natural living. Halo believes that the quality of ingredients a pet eats is the foundation of overall well-being but that elimination of harsh chemicals from food, treats and the environment is also critical to achieve optimal health.
Why does Halo use so much egg and peas in their formulations?
Halo uses eggs and peas as an additional source of highly digestible protein to support protein levels in all formulations. Halo does not use meat meal as a concentrated source of dried protein and uses only whole real meat ingredients. It is more difficult to achieve very high protein levels when using whole real meat instead of a meat meal. We feel the eggs and peas are healthier alternatives to meat meal.
Why does Halo avoid rice and corn in their foods?
Halo defines corn and white rice as "fillers". These are carbohydrates that may raise blood sugar levels rapidly and create hormonal signals that may have negative long term effects on metabolism and weight gain. Corn and rice based diets may also contribute to chronic symptoms of maldigestion, such as gas, bloating, and diarrhea. Halo makes healthier carbohydrate choices by using whole grains such as barley and oats and vegetables like sweet potatoes. These carbohydrates are nutrient-dense because they supply energy as well as high levels of fiber for digestive health and high levels of vitamins and minerals for overall health.

Pancreatitis
By Sissy on Jan 19, 2021
My 11yr cat has pancreatitis and other digestive issues. When I changed her to Halo her system got so much better! Was had only 1 pancreatitis attack in 12mths and has maintained her 10lb body weight, her breath is better and she's more playful as she's not in pain. I also use the Sensitive stomach dry food as a treat for as she loves crunch food.

My cat loves this food. His coat is shinier and healthier

My old guy loves it
By buffy on Aug 15, 2020
My old cat loves halo. Probably because so moist? He basically has no teeth so can only manage pates. I don't know if this is the same as Spot's Stew or a variation, but he used to eat that as well (except the peas!)

My mistake
By Jojo on Apr 22, 2020
I truly can’t rate this product because I ordered it not realizing it was pate and let me tell you, my cats hate pate, so now I am going to donate all of it to a shelter.

Liked ingredients, but I am no cat
By ActiveMom on Mar 18, 2020
I was hopeful, based on ingredients and a picky cat....Well, he hates it. I have been feeding it to the feral cat community I have been left with by irresponsible people, and it is a hit or miss.

Tasty for my cats
By RLiang on Mar 16, 2020
My 2 kittens love this taste! They would start to try something new when I mixed this with the new food. It also had a good price when I was buying. I would love to buy again!

Shelter cats liked it.
By Ilkcats on Aug 26, 2019
I bought this to donate to a cat sanctuary, as it is their preferred food. Most like it and no one gets sick from it, as they did on another common brand. Worth the extra cost as none gets wasted.

My cat loves Halo
By Elle on Jul 7, 2019
Halo is the only cat food my cat will eat. Her coat is so shiny and she never gets sick. That says a lot about the nutritional content of the food. It even smells good to me!

Not the right one
By CatLvr on May 15, 2019 Top 1000 Contributor
My finicky tabby gobbled the first can, but will not touch the rest. I even tried mixing it with her favorite treats. She picked the treats off and ignored the rest. Lol
