Feeding Instructions

Up to 20 weeks old, feed as much as your kitten will eat in 3 - 4 feedings per day. From 21 - 30 weeks old, feed about 1 can per lb of body weight. From 31 - 52 weeks old, feed 1.5 cans per lb of body weight per day.

Transition Instructions

Guidelines for changing your pet’s current dry or wet food to Halo dry or wet food:

Days 1-3: 75% old food, 25% Halo

Days 4-5: 50% old food, 50% Halo

Days 6-7: 25% old food, 75% Halo

Days 8+: 100% Halo

Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.

  • Cat attack!

    By on

My 2 kittens practically attack me when I open a new can of Halo kitten food. Many "meows" and jumping up and down, then they virtually inhale it! This never happened with the brand I used with our former kitty- which had more grain than meat. I've tried 2 flavors and the response is the same! Their coats are shiny and healthy, and if their energy has anything to do with the food, it is amazing.

Our three-month old kitten loves this food. I alternate between this and Pristine. I’ve read cats tastes are set at about six months, so this could be the reason some older cats may not transition well.

  • Proof Is In The Poop

    By on

I've fostered over a hundred kittens. Normally, I have to rely on what is donated to the shelter. Although, I do try to supplement with higher quality food when I can. On lower quality food, the kittens poop is very stinky and the kittens pass a lot of gas. For my last foster litter, I was able to feed the kittens entirely Halo- both wet and dry food. There was a noticeable difference! The proof was in the poop just like they advertise. It was nicely formed, healthy poop that was a lot less stinky! The kittens didn't have gas like on the cheaper brands. Yes, Halo is more expensive but the quality of ingredients is so much better! • We love Halo!!!

Halo is amazing! I decided to switch my now 6 month old kitten’s diet a few months ago from what the shelter was feeding her to Halo foods and other wholesome foods. She absolutely LOVES Halo. So far we’ve tried this wet chicken recipe for kittens as well as the chicken dry food for kittens and she loves both. I also ordered the fish variety for kittens—she just hasn’t tried it yet, but I have no doubt she’ll go crazy over it! I love the ingredients and in my opinion it may be one of the best kitten foods out there! The fact that they donate a meal for every purchase is even better! This is a food you can feel really good about feeding your kitty. I can’t find this in any stores near me and Chewy Halo is amazing! I normally do not purchase Halo because it is a bit expensive. It was on sale as one of the Chewy Deals, and my finicky kitten really likes it. Will buy it again.

  • No takers at our house!

    By on

Alas, our kitten will not eat this fine food; and even our older cats who usually love to gobble up any kitten food refuse to eat it. Other reviewers have indicated some kittens love it, so I'm hoping some shelter kitties will enjoy eating it before finding their new homes. Five stars for good ingredients and good company philosophy. Zero stars from E.., B..., and A..., the resident experts.

  • This was a big HIT for my kitties!

My kitties do love this wet food. I alternate between Halo, Tiki and other brand of canned food. Halo Chicken Recipe is grain free and that's something I like for my kitties. However, this food is rather low on protein contain but has 78% moisture. This is good way to keep all of my kitties well hydrated. Why is this important? One of my adult Devon doesn't seem to intake adequate amount of water. In fact, I've never seen her drinking water from the water fountain or water bowl and she is 2 and a half years old. She may be diving into the water bowl when I am not at home but who knows how much of water she actually drinks. I also like this food for the fact that it doesn't contain carrageenan My kitties do love this wet food. I alternate between Halo, Tiki and other brand of canned food.
