Feeding Instructions

Feed 3/4 oz per lbs of body weight (5 - 10 lbs) and 2/3 oz per lb of body weight (10 - 15 lbs) each day, split into 2 meals

Transition Instructions

Many pets require up to 7 - 10 days to adjust to a new food because their intestinal tracts contain unique bacteria and enzymes that need to adapt to the proper digestion of a new food. Follow these guidelines for changing your pet’s current dry or canned food to Halo dry or canned food:

Days 1 - 3: 75% old food, 25% Halo Days 4 - 5: 50% old food, 50% Halo Days 6 - 7: 25% old food, 75% Halo Days 8+: 100% Halo

If you have a pet with a sensitive stomach, transition them even more slowly (over 2 to 3 weeks) to avoid digestive upset.

If your dog or cat experiences digestive upset during the transition (poor appetite, vomiting, diarrhea or soft stool, etc.), return to the new food amount that was not causing problems and keep them there for a few more days before continuing with the diet change. Once your pet is eating all Halo if you change between the flavors, consider a 2 or 3 day transition to minimize stomach upset.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is canned food bad for my pet’s teeth?

No. While many vets recommend dry food to "keep teeth clean and healthy" it is a fact that many pets do not chew their food well enough to get any abrasive cleaning action from dry food. Whether you feed dry or canned food the single most important thing for dental health is tooth brushing.

Why does Halo refer to its products as natural?

Because it is! AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) defines "natural" pet food as having ingredients from ONLY plant, animal or mined sources. These foods cannot be highly processed or contain chemically synthetic ingredients, such as artificial flavors, preservatives or colorings.

Why does Halo refer to its products as holistic?

The holistic viewpoint that Halo has stems from the belief that health is achieved by focusing on the whole body through natural living. Halo believes that the quality of ingredients a pet eats is the foundation of overall well-being but that elimination of harsh chemicals from food, treats and the environment is also critical to achieve optimal health.

Why does Halo use so much egg and peas in their formulations?

Halo uses eggs and peas as an additional source of highly digestible protein to support protein levels in all formulations. Halo does not use meat meal as a concentrated source of dried protein and uses only whole real meat ingredients. It is more difficult to achieve very high protein levels when using whole real meat instead of a meat meal. We feel the eggs and peas are healthier alternatives to meat meal.

Why does Halo avoid rice and corn in their foods?

Halo defines corn and white rice as "fillers". These are carbohydrates that may raise blood sugar levels rapidly and create hormonal signals that may have negative long term effects on metabolism and weight gain. Corn and rice based diets may also contribute to chronic symptoms of maldigestion, such as gas, bloating, and diarrhea.

Halo makes healthier carbohydrate choices by using whole grains such as barley and oats and vegetables like sweet potatoes. These carbohydrates are nutrient-dense because they supply energy as well as high levels of fiber for digestive health and high levels of vitamins and minerals for overall health.

About Halo Wet Cat Food

America's Best Loved Holistic Brand
Holistic. Whole. Humane.

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

Halo is committed to providing no less than the best holistic recipes to satisfy your cat’s carnivorous cravings. Their wet cat food combines pure, natural ingredients like whole meat, poultry and fish plus non-GMO fruits and vegetables for delicious, more digestible meals. Following a whole meat philosophy, Halo never uses animal by-products or meat meals—just the real, whole proteins your cat needs to thrive.

Superior Digestibility

Halo believes that whole meat equals a whole lot more digestibility. As obligate carnivores, cats need meat, not just parts of animals that you wouldn’t consider to be meat. When your pet gets whole proteins instead of rendered meats like chicken meal or fish meal, they’re getting optimum nutrition that’s easier for their body to digest. And that means they can get the full benefits of each nutrient-rich ingredient.

What's in Your Cat's Bowl?

With Halo, you won’t see a meat meal hiding anywhere in the ingredients, and there’s no corn, wheat, wheat gluten, rice or artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. Here’s what you will find:

Holistic Whole Meat: Salmon, whitefish, chicken or turkey that's slow-cooked provides a more digestible source of protein with up to 16 times less ash than rendered meat.

Non-GMO Produce: Fruits and vegetables from farms that refuse to use genetically modified seeds that rely heavily on chemical fertilizers and herbicides to produce crops.

From the moment I popped the top off the can tails went up and the meows started. It is a pate style food, however, it easily and effortlessly slid out the can. It was accompanied by a good amount of juice/gravy as well, which is a plus to me because that's one of the best parts of the treat to them! I emptied a couple of cans into their dish and spread it amongst them and well, it did not last long. The cats gobbled it down as if they hadn't eaten in days! I guess it's safe to say that this one was a winner and we would definitely recommend it! … more

  • Paté? Not today.

Fussy cats. If yours don't like paté, this isn't for you. But if they do I'm sure they'll love it. Quality ingredients, grain free up to date.

  • cats won't eat it

I read on line that Halo was the top rated food for cats, but our cats won't eat it. Luckily they still like Royal Canin. Guess I'll donate the left over cans to local shelter.

  • Had High Hopes

My cats love the chicken so much, I thought I would try the indoor formula, but I have tried 2 cans and they will not touch it. I know the consistency is different, I am not sure what else but they won't try it. Cats are so finicky.

  • old formula vs new formula

    By on

Old formula was called pate new formula is for indoor cats. Last time I ordered I received the new formula and it looked different, better and my cats loved it, I then ordered another case thinking I would get the new formula and received the old pate and my cats really do not like it, I throw a lot of it away. I hope the old pate gets phased out soon.

We are part of the Chewy Influencer program, so we tried this and I'm so happy we did! My cats eat it like it's going out of style. One of my cats gets itchy if he eats grains, so this one is perfect.

My cats, 5 and 1, weren't fans. They are kind of picky. I gave cans to my friend for her semiferal cat, and she said he loved it. Gobbled up an entire 5.5oz can all on his own. Glad another cat liked it.

I bought this to alternate with the halo spots stew and my kittens really liked it. I don't think they've met any food they don't like, but I feel like the grain free is the way to go.

I've noticed a lot less problems with my cats health since switching to grain free products. Purchasing this was a trial run and all 4 of my cats loved it, so I'll be getting more.
