Feeding Instructions

Adult: Feed 1 ounce per pound of body weight per day, split into two servings.

Transition Instructions
  • Days 1 - 3: 75% non Halo food, 25% Halo

  • Days 4 - 5: 50% non Halo food, 50% Halo

  • Days 6 - 7: 25% non Halo food, 75% Halo

  • Days 8+: 100% Halo

Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.

FAQ

Is canned food bad for my pet’s teeth?

No. While many vets recommend dry food to "keep teeth clean and healthy" it is a fact that many pets do not chew their food well enough to get any abrasive cleaning action from dry food. Whether you feed dry or canned food the single most important thing for dental health is tooth brushing.

Why does Halo refer to its products as natural?

Because it is! AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) defines "natural" pet food as having ingredients from ONLY plant, animal or mined sources. These foods cannot be highly processed or contain chemically synthetic ingredients, such as artificial flavors, preservatives or colorings.

Why does Halo refer to its products as holistic?

The holistic viewpoint that Halo has stems from the belief that health is achieved by focusing on the whole body through natural living. Halo believes that the quality of ingredients a pet eats is the foundation of overall well-being but that elimination of harsh chemicals from food, treats and the environment is also critical to achieve optimal health.

Why does Halo use so much egg and peas in their formulations?

Halo uses eggs and peas as an additional source of highly digestible protein to support protein levels in all formulations. Halo does not use meat meal as a concentrated source of dried protein and uses only whole real meat ingredients. It is more difficult to achieve very high protein levels when using whole real meat instead of a meat meal. We feel the eggs and peas are healthier alternatives to meat meal.

Why does Halo avoid rice and corn in their foods?

Halo defines corn and white rice as "fillers". These are carbohydrates that may raise blood sugar levels rapidly and create hormonal signals that may have negative long term effects on metabolism and weight gain. Corn and rice based diets may also contribute to chronic symptoms of maldigestion, such as gas, bloating, and diarrhea. Halo makes healthier carbohydrate choices by using whole grains such as barley and oats and vegetables like sweet potatoes. These carbohydrates are nutrient-dense because they supply energy as well as high levels of fiber for digestive health and high levels of vitamins and minerals for overall health.

About Halo Wet Dog Food

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

Halo is committed to providing no less than the best holistic recipes to satisfy your dog’s carnivorous cravings. Their wet dog food combines pure, natural ingredients like whole meat, poultry and fish plus non-GMO fruits and vegetables for delicious, more digestible meals. Following a whole meat philosophy, Halo never uses animal by-products or meat meals—just the real, whole proteins your dog needs to thrive.

Super Digestibility

Halo believes that whole meat equals a whole lot more digestibility. Dogs need meat, not just parts of animals that you wouldn’t consider to be meat. When your pet gets whole proteins instead of rendered meats like chicken meal or fish meal, they’re getting optimum nutrition that’s easier for their body to digest. And that means they can get the full benefits of each nutrient-rich ingredient.

What's in Your Dog's Bowl?

With Halo, you won’t see a "meat meal" hiding anywhere in the ingredients, and there’s no corn, wheat, wheat gluten, rice or artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. Here’s what you will find:

Holistic Whole Protein: Salmon, whitefish, chicken or turkey that's slow-cooked provides a more digestible source of protein with up to 16 times less ash than rendered meat.

Non-GMO Produce: Fruits and vegetables from farms that refuse to use genetically modified seeds that rely heavily on chemical fertilizers and herbicides to produce crops.

    Picky Toy Poodle

Georgie loves this food! She is a rescue with food issues but favors pate consistency and loves chicken and salmon - done! I mix some in with her dry food and it does the trick. Adds to her very high energy level, she is very happy and playful, and a sure sign it agrees with her sensitive digestive system - perfect poops. Very happy Mom.

    The perfect mixing food!

    By on

Have used Halo for years and will continue! My only reason for not giving a full 5-star review on this is that the cans are smaller than necessary for environment. Would love this in larger pop top cans!

    Great Poops!

My 5 lb. Yorkie licks her bowl clean every meal. She loves this food. Her coat is healthier, her skin breakouts are gone, and best of all her poops are smaller and easy to pick up! Her body is obviously using all the nutrition from this food! I am so glad I changed to Halo.

    Thx halo!!!

    By on

10lb poodle/bischon very poor eater. Have been cooking every meal for a few years. Time consuming and expensive. Have tried numerous other manufactured foods with no luck. My daughter read about halo so I gave it a try. I have followed the directions for a very slow conversion. No stomach upset. Runs eagerly to kitchen when can is opened. Eats every bite. First time in 11 yrs she has “clanked” the bowl in an attempt to clean her dish of every morsel. Thx halo for an awesome product and thx chewy for ur speedy delivery to my front door!!! I see auto ship in my future.

    Picky Shih-tzu Not Interested

    By on

received a recommendation from a staff member at Chewy to try wet food for my very picky fur baby. A friend recommended the Halo brand, ordered the smallest amount which unfortunately according to Chewy was 12 cans- tried to serve it to my shih- tzu- he was not having it at all and I must admit the smell of the dog food also made me gag! Certainly this is not for us!!
