Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.
No. While many vets recommend dry food to "keep teeth clean and healthy" it is a fact that many pets do not chew their food well enough to get any abrasive cleaning action from dry food. Whether you feed dry or canned food the single most important thing for dental health is tooth brushing.
Because it is! AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) defines "natural" pet food as having ingredients from ONLY plant, animal or mined sources. These foods cannot be highly processed or contain chemically synthetic ingredients, such as artificial flavors, preservatives or colorings.
The holistic viewpoint that Halo has stems from the belief that health is achieved by focusing on the whole body through natural living. Halo believes that the quality of ingredients a pet eats is the foundation of overall well-being but that elimination of harsh chemicals from food, treats and the environment is also critical to achieve optimal health.
Halo uses eggs and peas as an additional source of highly digestible protein to support protein levels in all formulations. Halo does not use meat meal as a concentrated source of dried protein and uses only whole real meat ingredients. It is more difficult to achieve very high protein levels when using whole real meat instead of a meat meal. We feel the eggs and peas are healthier alternatives to meat meal.
Halo defines corn and white rice as "fillers". These are carbohydrates that may raise blood sugar levels rapidly and create hormonal signals that may have negative long term effects on metabolism and weight gain. Corn and rice based diets may also contribute to chronic symptoms of maldigestion, such as gas, bloating, and diarrhea. Halo makes healthier carbohydrate choices by using whole grains such as barley and oats and vegetables like sweet potatoes. These carbohydrates are nutrient-dense because they supply energy as well as high levels of fiber for digestive health and high levels of vitamins and minerals for overall health.

The quality ingredients is why I ordered this for our much loved pups. I was looking forward to introducing them to a new stew with better quality ingredients; however, instead of stew, what we got is pate in a can with the words “beef stew” on the front label. I don’t foresee purchasing this again until they correct the misleading label. I’m on a quest to find real beef stew designed for our pups where real beef is the #1 ingredient and in the form of actual stew with beefy chunks which they love.
All four of my dogs love this product.
My dogs love this stuff!
Product does not contain anything sourced from chicken, which is a relief b/c my dog can't have anything chicken. Compared to other products, the only issue I have is that it is more expensive, as I can buy pure organic that has the same ingredients as this, which isn't organic, for less money. If on a budget, you might want to buy a different brand that is just as good or better and spend less for it.
He loves it. Gobbled it all up! Went back to clean out bowl. Great product!
Jasmin wouldn't touch if her life depended on it and it looks gross like watery ground up dog poop. Wasted money.
My dog Loves this canned food. It's good quality.
My dogs loved the food but their hair was falling out after about two weeks after trying this food. We are not repurchasing it. In fact I'm calling to get a refund.
This is the first food of over 15 we've tried that the new dog just LOVES! She actually eats, which is a small miracle. Vet was clear NOT to use grain free recipes because of the heart condition they cause, so even though I have a small dog I went with this as it contains grains. So happy we tried this.
This dog food has been inconsistent with it's consistency. For so long it was great. Then it appeared watered down. I contacted them and they said that batch number reported it was okay. Then it was quite oily. Now it's like paste. I would not recommend this product. Needless to say I am switching to another dog food.
