Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.

About Halo Dry Cat Food

America's Best Loved Holistic Brand
Holistic. Whole. Humane.

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

When pet parents want to give their pets a holistic food that's made with pure, natural, whole ingredients, they choose Halo. Their recipes use responsibly sourced whole meats and non-GMO vegetables, and never any meat meals, animal by-products or added growth hormones. It's exactly what nature intended—highly digestible ingredients that are slow-cooked in small batches to create cat food with less ash, more bioavailable nutrients and delicious flavor.

Proven Superior Digestibility

Halo believes that whole meat equals a whole lot more digestibility. As obligate carnivores, cats need meat, not just parts of animals that you wouldn't consider to be meat. When your pet gets whole proteins instead of rendered meats like chicken meal or fish meal, they're getting optimum nutrition that's easier for their body to digest. And that means they can get the full benefits of each nutrient-rich ingredient.

What's in Your Cat's Bowl?

With Halo, you won't see a meat meal hiding anywhere in the ingredients, and there's no corn, wheat, wheat gluten, rice or artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. Here's what you will find:

Holistic Whole Meat: Salmon, whitefish, chicken or turkey that's slow-cooked provides a more digestible source of protein with up to 16 times less ash than rendered meat.

Originative Protein: Humanely sourced meats like cage-free poultry and wild-caught fish from sustainable fisheries—all raised naturally without antibiotics.

Non-GMO Produce: Fruits and vegetables from farms that refuse to use genetically modified seeds that rely heavily on chemical fertilizers and herbicides to produce crops.

The Proof Is in the Poop

The Proof Is in the Poop

Because each recipe is made with whole meat, it's easier for your cat to digest. With Halo, more of the nutrients stay in and go to use inside your cat's body, so less is likely to come out as waste. In a digestibility test performed by an independent US laboratory, Halo's kibble came out at the top of the rankings.

DreamCoat for a Shiny Coat

The difference Halo makes isn't just on the inside—it shows through in the coat, too. Their exclusive DreamCoat blend is added to dry food formulas to help keep your cat's skin smooth and coat shiny. This combination of botanicals and other ingredients provides balanced essential fatty acids for ongoing skin and coat support.

DreamCoat for a Shiny Coat

Halo says NO to:

  • Meat meal (rendered meat)

  • Whole meat that's responsibly sourced

    Cat refused to eat

    By on

My cat has no teeth and occasionally throws up. Looks like she has a hard time digesting her food. This food sounded like perfect healthy product, which I'm sure it is but my cat refused to eat it. Not much else I can say except cats are picky eaters and this bag of food was a big waste of money for me. I am sure it's a good product great wholesome ingredients. Sitting in my pantry now, will probably see if the outside cats I feed will eat it.

Different kibble size, but she still loves it.

    By on

I was disappointed when I opened the bag because I was expecting a larger sized kibble. I thought to myself, "She won't eat this because it doesn't look the same." But, giving her time to get hungry, she eventually started eating and realized it was the same food. She still loves this product.

    I like this food

    By on

At first I didn’t care for it much but now I like it a lot. My sister Audrey and my brother Buddy liked it right away. Now we’re all eating it and Mama says it will help us lose weight. So Dr. Crutchfield will be happy about that.

cats don't care for halo senior food

    By on

My cats enjoy the Halo Grain free chicken Healthy weight flavor but don't care for Halo chicken senior version. There's nothing wrong with the product, suppose it's just individual tastes of my cats. They have a huge variety of food to eat, so they get to be picky about their food choices.

    Sasha loves it!

    By on

My cat is almost 14 and has been eating Halo dry cat food for most of her life. On the advice of my vet, I recently switched to a senior formula. Sasha made the switch with no problems. P.S. The commercial is true, her poop doesn't stink, even when she doesn't bury it!

    Cats Would Not Eat It!

    By on

I had heard a lot about Halo products and was looking for a different brand for my three very fussy boys. Unfortunately they would not eat it!!! A bite or nibble here and there but just did not like it! I even tried Halo wet food! They nibbled but did not like it either. I ended up throwing out most of each can that I fed them as well as the bowls of uneaten kibble.
