Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.

About Halo Dry Cat Food

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

When pet parents want to give their pets a holistic food that's made with pure, natural, whole ingredients, they choose Halo. Their recipes use responsibly sourced whole meats and non-GMO vegetables, and never any meat meals, animal by-products or added growth hormones. It's exactly what nature intended—highly digestible ingredients that are slow-cooked in small batches to create cat food with less ash, more bioavailable nutrients and delicious flavor.

Super Digestibility

Halo believes that whole meat equals a whole lot more digestibility. As obligate carnivores, cats need meat, not just parts of animals that you wouldn't consider to be meat. When your pet gets whole proteins instead of rendered meats like chicken meal or fish meal, they're getting optimum nutrition that's easier for their body to digest. And that means they can get the full benefits of each nutrient-rich ingredient.

What's in Your Cat's Bowl?

With Halo, you won't see a "meat meal" hiding anywhere in the ingredients, and there's no corn, wheat, wheat gluten, rice or artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. Here's what you will find:

Holistic Whole Protein: Salmon, whitefish, chicken or turkey that's slow-cooked provides a more digestible source of protein with up to 16 times less ash than rendered meat.

Humanely Sourced: Cage-free poultry raised without antibiotics, pasture raised beef from farms that raise animals naturally and wild caught fish from sustainable fisheries.

Non-GMO Produce: Fruits and vegetables from farms that refuse to use genetically modified seeds that rely heavily on chemical fertilizers and herbicides to produce crops.

The Proof Is in the Poop

The Proof Is in the Poop

Because each recipe is made with whole meat, it’s easier for your cat to digest. With Halo, more of the nutrients stay in and go to use inside your cat’s body, so less is likely to come out as waste. Since less is coming out as waste, your cat is utilizing more of the nutrients in Halo cat food.

DreamCoat for a Shiny Coat

The difference Halo makes isn't just on the inside—it shows through in the coat, too. Their exclusive DreamCoat blend is added to dry food formulas to help keep your cat's skin smooth and coat shiny. This combination of botanicals and other ingredients provides balanced essential fatty acids for ongoing skin and coat support.

DreamCoat for a Shiny Coat

Halo says NO to:

  • Meat meal (rendered meat)
  • Animal by-products
  • Animals raised with antibiotics
  • Corn, wheat, wheat gluten and rice
  • Artificial colors, preservatives and flavors
  • Compromises and shortcuts

Halo says YES to:

  • Whole meat that's responsibly sourced
  • Highly digestible whole proteins
  • Animals raised as nature intended
  • Fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins and minerals
  • Holistic, natural ingredients
  • Donating to shelters
  • Less ash and more bioavailable nutrition

Kitten loves it, I love the ingredients

    By on

My new kitten LOVES this food. I didn’t have any issues switching her to this when I got her. She was extremely under weight and ill when I got her and after 2 months of eating this food she got a clean bill of health and is at the ideal weight! The pieces are small so she sometimes swallows them whole (especially when she’s teething) but that hasn’t caused any issues. Her bowel movements have been solid and not as smelly on this food as well, and no straining either. It’s also AAFCO approved for growth. Highly recommend this food for kittens!! Chewy is the only place I have been able to purchase it.

Healed digestive issues, improved coat, better energy!

    By on

Our new Bengal kitten came to our home very sick and needed 3 rounds of Rx to get a URI cleared up. The meds gave her diarrhea, so our vet prescribed Hills I/D. The diarrhea, and now gas and oily/spiky looking fur, got severe. Even after coming off the Rx, the digestive issues continued, so I figured out the I/D food was the culprit. It was so bad I considered a raw diet, but couldn't commit. In comes Halo. After researching for many hours, I decided to give this a try and within ONE DAY, our baby was pooping solids. Within 3 days, her coat was beautiful and shiny again. I was so grateful I emailed Halo directly to thank them for a superior product. Our Russian Blue has been looking peaked after starting the I/D diet, and she's now eating Halo as well, and also starting to look MUCH better. Both of them have energy now, are excited to eat the food, and are in better health after 1 week. It took them a day or two to really get start enjoying a new dry food, but now I will never switch from Halo. It's worth the expense to feed a high quality food that improves my pet's health. … more

    My Kitten Thrives on Halo

    By on

After I lost my beloved Sweeney Todd to CKD, I adopted another orange tabby. He came from the local shelter, where he had been eating dry Purina Kitten Chow. His coat was quite arid and brittle. After he started eating a diet of wet food (Purina Pro Plan) and Halo Kitten, the texture of his coat began to improve. He gobbles it down. The kitten seems to thrive on this formula. At one point during the pandemic, we had to forego this food for a period of time and make do with what was locally available in our rural community, and I could see and feel the difference in his fur. He's now nine months old, and I plan to transition him to Halo adult in a few months.

My new Ragdoll kittens absolutely love this dry food. It’s small size is perfect for tiny mouths. I am so happy they like it as I feel it’s the best and most healthy kitten food on the market.

Great quality, as always, but bland

    By on

The quality of Halo food is too high to give it anything less than three stars, I think, but this particular variety seems really bland, based on the ingredients and my kittens' reactions. They had a similar reaction to the Halo chicken wet food for kittens, so maybe I should've expected this. They LOVE the Salmon & Whitefish variety, which I'll keep buying, but I won't be buying this one again. I'll see if I can get them to eat it by mixing it in with a different dry food.

    Cats love it!

    By on

I made a mistake when I bought this one. I had previously bought the Salmon flavor and thought that's what I bought again but the cats still liked this one too. I do have one cat that has had a full mouth extraction and she prefers the Salmon and the Salmon seems to be a more tender crunch than the Chicken so it's easier for her to digest it.

    Great poops!

    By on

I have 2 kittens that used to be on iams. Out of nowhere they started having horrible poops. I decided to go with this because of how good the ingredients looked. After being on it just a couple of weeks both kittens have healthy poops! Yay!!

    Healthy & apparently tasty!

    By on

I recently adopted two brothers and they came with Purina kitten chow. I knew I wanted them to have a better quality food and researched a lot of the top brands and decided Halo sounded like the best. I slowly transitioned them over the course of a week and they are now only eating Halo Dry. They love it! And I'm happy because it's full of quality ingredients.
