About Halo Dry Food For Cats

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

When pet parents want to give their pets a holistic food that’s made with pure, natural, whole ingredients, they choose Halo. Their recipes use responsibly sourced whole meats and non-GMO vegetables, and never any meat meals, animal by-products or added growth hormones. It’s exactly what nature intended—highly digestible ingredients that are slow-cooked in small batches to create cat food with less ash, more bioavailable nutr

What’s in Your Cat’s Bowl?

With Halo, you won’t see a “meat meal” hiding anywhere in the ingredients, and there’s no corn, wheat, wheat gluten, rice or artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. Here’s what you will find:

Holistic Whole Protein:

Salmon, whitefish, chicken or turkey that’s slow-cooked provides a more digestible source of protein with up to 16 times less ash than rendered meat.

Humanely Sourced:

Cage-free poultry raised without antibiotics, pasture raised beef from farms that raise animals naturally and wild caught fish from sustainable fisheries.

Non-GMO Produce:

Fruits and vegetables from farms that refuse to use genetically modified seeds that rely heavily on chemical fertilizers and herbicides to produce crops.

The Proof Is in the Poop

Because each recipe is made with whole meat, it’s easier for your cat to digest. With Halo, more of the nutrients stay in and go to use inside your cat’s body, so less is likely to come out as waste. Since less is coming out as waste, your cat is utilizing more of the nutrients in Halo cat food.

What is iodine level on dry matter basis % per mg please ? (Have a hyperthyroid kitty )
Answer by GraceflowsgentlyMar 15, 2022
It would be best to feed your cat wet food such as Weruva, Wellness chicken or turkey pate, or Tiki cat (non fish varieties) I had a cat who had hyperthyroidism and it is important to give them food low in Phosphorus levels. Halo makes a wet food Spots Stew that falls in this category.

Is all ingredients from USA?
Answer by ChewyAug 12, 2021
All Halo meat, poultry, and fish proteins are sourced from the US, Canada, or New Zealand. Because of Halo's commitment to using non-GMO vegetables and fruits, they also source plant-based ingredients from Europe, where GMO crops are prohibited by law. Any ingredient sourced internationally comes from verified responsible suppliers.

Where is this manufactured? I see the distributor is in Florida but it doesn't list the manufacturer so how can I be sure the ingredients all come from the US and other safe countries?
Answer by ChewyNov 13, 2017
This product is manufactured in the United States.

Can't recommend this product

My cat is so determined to not eat this she tries to bury the dish it's in. Not sure exactly what the problem is with this formula, but even the crows won't eat it. Lesson learned: don't buy pet food off the internet it your cat hasn't already approved of it. Or the crows.

The only food I use

This is absolutely the one-and-only food I can feed my sphinx to ensure that she has solid stool.

Picky eater doesn’t like new recipe

I’m not sure if the recipe changed or what, but as other reviews have stated it is noticably different and my cat is not eating it like she used to. She used to clean her bowl daily and wait for her breakfast but she barely eats half of it now on a good day. I’ve also noticed her poo is stinky with the change and it never used to be. Hopefully they go back to the old formula!

cats stopped eating it

A healthy food that my two cats have enjoyed for years. But last two shipments, they won't eat it. Neither of them. The maker must have changed the formula.

The BEST cat food for the price!

A friend turned me on to Halo because her sweet kitty cat had urinary crystals blocking his urinary tract. This happened even after using Science Diet and the other expensive brands. She did some extensive research about cat foods and arrived at Halo's wet food as being the best. So far, it's working for all three cats; plus, their coats are smooth and glossy.

Cats seem to like it

The cats have seemed to approve! Fed them Halo years and years ago. Recently cycled back to it and so far 8 cats are doing good on it.

Changed formula? Why???

Our cats used to love this food. In the new order received in November 2021 the kibble is darker and just looks different. More importantly, our cats won't touch it now.

Formula Change in Nov 2021?

My cats used to love this food. But the last two bags have been different and they are avoiding it. The food used to have a light brown color and now it is dark brown. The smell is different too. Seems the manufacturer changed the formula. I am back on the hunt for a suitable food that my cats will like.
