Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.

Holistic. Whole. Humane.
When pet parents want to give their pets a holistic food that's made with pure, natural, whole ingredients, they choose Halo. Their recipes use responsibly sourced whole meats and non-GMO vegetables, and never any meat meals, animal by-products or added growth hormones. It's exactly what nature intended—highly digestible ingredients that are slow-cooked in small batches to create cat food with less ash, more bioavailable nutrients and delicious flavor.
Super Digestibility
Halo believes that whole meat equals a whole lot more digestibility. As obligate carnivores, cats need meat, not just parts of animals that you wouldn't consider to be meat. When your pet gets whole proteins instead of rendered meats like chicken meal or fish meal, they're getting optimum nutrition that's easier for their body to digest. And that means they can get the full benefits of each nutrient-rich ingredient.
What's in Your Cat's Bowl?
With Halo, you won't see a "meat meal" hiding anywhere in the ingredients, and there's no corn, wheat, wheat gluten, rice or artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. Here's what you will find:
Holistic Whole Protein: Salmon, whitefish, chicken or turkey that's slow-cooked provides a more digestible source of protein with up to 16 times less ash than rendered meat.
Humanely Sourced: Cage-free poultry raised without antibiotics, pasture raised beef from farms that raise animals naturally and wild caught fish from sustainable fisheries.
Non-GMO Produce: Fruits and vegetables from farms that refuse to use genetically modified seeds that rely heavily on chemical fertilizers and herbicides to produce crops.

The Proof Is in the Poop
Because each recipe is made with whole meat, it’s easier for your cat to digest. With Halo, more of the nutrients stay in and go to use inside your cat’s body, so less is likely to come out as waste. Since less is coming out as waste, your cat is utilizing more of the nutrients in Halo cat food.
DreamCoat for a Shiny Coat
The difference Halo makes isn't just on the inside—it shows through in the coat, too. Their exclusive DreamCoat blend is added to dry food formulas to help keep your cat's skin smooth and coat shiny. This combination of botanicals and other ingredients provides balanced essential fatty acids for ongoing skin and coat support.

Halo says NO to:
- Meat meal (rendered meat)
- Animal by-products
- Animals raised with antibiotics
- Corn, wheat, wheat gluten and rice
- Artificial colors, preservatives and flavors
- Compromises and shortcuts
Halo says YES to:
- Whole meat that's responsibly sourced
- Highly digestible whole proteins
- Animals raised as nature intended
- Fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins and minerals
- Holistic, natural ingredients
- Donating to shelters
- Less ash and more bioavailable nutrition

Did not work for us
By Snowkitties on Mar 1, 2021
Ingredient list looks awesomely healthy, but neither cat would touch it. We gave it several tries and then gave the rest away. Not sure why it didn't appeal; they like Halo canned...

My sentient bowling ball seems to like it
By Jaxx on Dec 11, 2020
I have a very small, yet very rotund cat. It's one of the first things people notice about it, "wow, your cat is so round. And cross-eyed." My cat has been on higher quality kibbles and freeze-dried raws, but has an addiction for the taste of cheaper kibbles and will turn up its nose to anything too healthy. This is a very good compromise. It has pretty decent ingredients and my cat seems to really enjoy the flavor. My guess is that it tastes more chicken-y than some other high-end cat foods. But I'm not willing to give it a taste test so I will just have to take the cat's word for it.

What happened???
By Adri on Dec 23, 2020
I first ordered this food a couple of months ago, and my two cats (one being a picky eater, the other being an indiscriminate vacuum with legs) loved it. I just ordered another bag and noticed that the food inside looks different and smells different. Now neither of my cats want anything to do with it. Halo, what happened???

Finicky cat took to it right away.
By Libby on Jan 8, 2021
My cat is touchy about food, snubs her nose at most of them that I have tried in the past. Took to the Halo Holistic chicken & liver Indoor dry cat food right away. She has already lost a 1/2 lb. and passed her annual check-up with flying colors.

A Healthy Weight food the Cat will actually eat
By Bink on Feb 12, 2021
Granted, almost any cat will prefer full fat cat food to the "diet stuff." But that said, this food one that our overweight cat will eat. :)

The box is exciting as much as the food itself!
By catmom on Oct 29, 2020
My cats have been eating this food for years! Not picky eaters but as a pet owner love that I know all the ingredients in the food. No fillers! The weight management helps with keeping them at a healthy weight (if they let you keep them on a diet). Our cats meow around for more once they finish their bowl. One of the cats is 14 years old and is grumpy-this food keeps him happy! (:

The boys have been eating this with their old cat food and so far I’ve been hearing them chomp away. Very happy that I am giving them better food.

Cats Refuse to Eat This Food
By HappyCat on Oct 1, 2020
I did a lot of research into this food before ordering two bags - one chicken one fish flavor. With 4 cats and a stray that I feed, I try to find good quality for a fair price and they have all loved the canned Halo food so I thought I would try the dry. I was very excited when we got it and I immediately mixed some into the old food. Over the next few days, I added more of the new and less of the old food to my cat's bowls. I discovered that they were completely avoiding eating the new food. At this point, it has been at least two weeks and my cats are eating my dog's food but still refusing to eat the Halo food! Amazed at this food
By Salena on Sep 16, 2020
My older cat has had stomach issues for years. I’ve had him on medicated food he didn’t like, then blue buffalo which he seemed to love but his stomach started acting up again chronically. The vets (yes multiple) said to switch him off blue buffalo immediately and recommended this brand but I trialed about 10 different brands before I decided on halo. Both my cats loved the halo wet foods and my older cat’s stomach issues cleared right up! so I decided to start transitioning them from blue dry to halo dry also. Older cat is very picky about dry food and wouldn’t usually eat any other brand than blue. I put a bowl of this dry food out and both my cats (after already having their wet dinner) SCARFED My older cat has had stomach issues for years.
