Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.
When pet parents want to give their pets a holistic food that’s made with pure, natural, whole ingredients, they choose Halo. Their recipes use responsibly sourced whole meats and non-GMO vegetables, and never any meat meals, animal by-products or added growth hormones. It’s exactly what nature intended—highly digestible ingredients that are slow-cooked in small batches to create cat food with less ash, more bioavailable nutr
What’s in Your Cat’s Bowl?
With Halo, you won’t see a “meat meal” hiding anywhere in the ingredients, and there’s no corn, wheat, wheat gluten, rice or artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. Here’s what you will find:
Holistic Whole Protein:
Salmon, whitefish, chicken or turkey that’s slow-cooked provides a more digestible source of protein with up to 16 times less ash than rendered meat.
Humanely Sourced:
Cage-free poultry raised without antibiotics, pasture raised beef from farms that raise animals naturally and wild caught fish from sustainable fisheries.
Non-GMO Produce:
Fruits and vegetables from farms that refuse to use genetically modified seeds that rely heavily on chemical fertilizers and herbicides to produce crops.
The Proof Is in the Poop
Because each recipe is made with whole meat, it’s easier for your cat to digest. With Halo, more of the nutrients stay in and go to use inside your cat’s body, so less is likely to come out as waste. Since less is coming out as waste, your cat is utilizing more of the nutrients in Halo cat food.

What is iodine level on dry matter basis % per mg please ? (Have a hyperthyroid kitty )
Answer by Graceflowsgently • Mar 15, 2022
It would be best to feed your cat wet food such as Weruva, Wellness chicken or turkey pate, or Tiki cat (non fish varieties) I had a cat who had hyperthyroidism and it is important to give them food low in Phosphorus levels. Halo makes a wet food Spots Stew that falls in this category.
Is all ingredients from USA?
Answer by • Aug 12, 2021
All Halo meat, poultry, and fish proteins are sourced from the US, Canada, or New Zealand. Because of Halo's commitment to using non-GMO vegetables and fruits, they also source plant-based ingredients from Europe, where GMO crops are prohibited by law. Any ingredient sourced internationally comes from verified responsible suppliers.
The calories per cup from Halo say 396, why does chewy say 449? Which is it??
Answer by • Oct 13, 2018
This formula contains 397 kilo calories per cup.
Where is this manufactured? I see the distributor is in Florida but it doesn't list the manufacturer so how can I be sure the ingredients all come from the US and other safe countries?
Answer by • Nov 13, 2017
This product is manufactured in the United States.
My cat used to love this food very much, somehow he refused to eat the new bag I just opened. Something wrong on this food, I think the manufacturer changed the formula, my cat would rather starve than touch the food. I wonder what did they do to this food.

Not anymore
We fed this to our 4 cats for years and they loved. Mid 2021 they stopped eating it. I emailed the manufacturer asking questions including, had there been a formal change? They promptly replied with answers but never addressed the formal change question. I learned from a cat food review, that no longer recommended this food, there had been a formal change. Two cats lost enough weight we had find something else. It's been a year and we are still struggling to find a food that agrees with all four cats.

Picky eater won't eat it by itself
I feed my cat purina one indoor food, she loves it but her poop smells foul. I had her fostered for a few weeks while I was out of town and her foster parent fed her this halo food. She won't eat it alone but will eat it if I mix it with purina. So far I have noticed her poop is less smelly.

My cat's say, no thank you
I'm trying to switch to a healthier dry food, and the cats leave this food in the bowl, and eat their old food around it. I wish I could have found a sample of this product, so I didn't have to waste the whole bag. My cat's say, no thank you

My Ragdolls Love It!
On the advice of another breeder, I purchased my first bag of Halo dry for my Ragdoll cattery. I mainly feed very high quality and nutrient-dense raw, but wanted my cats to have a “grazing-option” during the day. This met my mark! My Ragdolls positively love it, and I love that it’s a high-protein dry, not a dry kibble that’s filled with carbs, fillers and colorings. 5-star! I’m very pleased, (I subscribe to the two-pack 6# bundle).

Great change for my cat!
I was worried that my cats food had too much other filler so I decided to try this brand. Since changing her food she plays more and eats less. I think this food is just more filling because it has a good amount of protein. She gobbles it up without question and almost never ask for more.

Great Eats!
I am a 14-year-old VERY finicky eater. But my mom wanted something produced without cruelty to my fellow animals but delish and healthy, Turns out, it’s BOTH. Thanks Chewy!

Halo Indoor Cat Food
Something is defenitly wrong with the formula now. I took a picture form last bag and it is darker and stale looking. My cat was acting strange with the food. After looking at the reviews, I now know that I am not going crazy!

Halo gone bad
Every other bag is garbage apparently. We have to find a new dry food option which keeps my big bubba at bay overnight. Won’t touch this bag of food after devouring the last one.

Formula Changed
My cats have been eating very happily this since I adopted them two years ago - until the new bag I just opened. They went from licking the bowl when it is gone to refusing to touch it. My cats are not picky eaters and I see many other people are having the same issue. I wish Halo/Chewy would make it clear when there are major product changes like this as a 10lb bag of this food is not cheap.
