About Halo Dry Dog Food

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

When pet parents want to give their pets a holistic food that's made with pure, natural, whole ingredients, they choose Halo. Their recipes use responsibly sourced whole meats and non-GMO vegetables, and never any meat meals, animal by-products or added growth hormones. It's exactly what nature intended—highly digestible ingredients that are slow-cooked in small batches to create dog food with less ash, more bioavailable nutrients

Super Digestibility

Halo believes that whole meat equals a whole lot more digestibility. When your pet gets whole proteins instead of rendered meats like chicken meal or fish meal, they're getting optimum nutrition that's easier for their body to digest. And that means they can get the full benefits of each nutrient-rich ingredient.

What's in Your Dog's Bowl?

With Halo, you won't see a "meat meal" hiding anywhere in the ingredients, and there's no corn, wheat, wheat gluten, rice or artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. Here's what you will find:

Salmon, chicken, lamb, venison, turkey or beef that's slow-cooked provides a more digestible source of protein with up to 16 times less ash than rendered meat.

Cage-free poultry raised without antibiotics, pasture raised beef from farms that raise animals naturally and wild caught fish from sustainable fisheries.

Fruits and vegetables from farms that refuse to use genetically modified seeds that rely heavily on chemical fertilizers and herbicides to produce crops.

The Proof Is in the Poop

Because each recipe is made with whole meat, it’s easier for your dog to digest. With Halo, more of the nutrients stay in and go to use inside your dog’s body, so less is likely to come out as waste. Since less is coming out as waste, your dog is utilizing more of the nutrients in Halo dog food.

About Halo

At Halo, the motto, "WHOLE Makes a Whole Lot of Difference" is more than just words. It's the philosophy that drives their holistic approach to ingredient sourcing, recipes, and nutritional value. It's their overall mission to create exceptional food cats and dogs love and pet parents trust. For over 30 years, Halo has insisted on creating only holistic pet foods that rely on whole meat, poultry or fish and never any rendered meat meal. This is the fundamental difference that sets them apart as a premium pet food brand.

hmmm not sure what to do

Worlds tiniest kibble?? I have 30-60 pound dogs. This food is so stinking small. Senior dog does not mean tiny or all older dogs have no teeth. From what I can tell this is the same food as in reviews. all the reviews show bigger kibble unless the pictures are that deceiving. I don’t know, somebody make some suggestions because this is way too small for my dogs they love the food and I like the ingredients.

Works well for my dog's sensitive guts...

My dog is 10 years old now and this is the first Senior dog food I've purchased. She had a bad spell with her stomach and guts being very upset and this food works well during her recovery. One surprise when I opened the bag is how tiny the kibble is but the formula works for her.

Two old senior rescue dogs approved

Two dogs (one with no teeth and one with few teeth) enjoy mealtime, and they appear to be thriving while eating this food. Their skin and coats have improved. I wish there were other flavors for them.

Great for seniors

I started giving this to my 11 year old border mix and she is tolerating it very well. I was surprised by the size as they are small but she likes it.

Hard to find

“HALO” senior dig food is getting difficult to find in local and big chain pet stores. My “Sidney” has been eating this brand dog since she was a puppy. i would hate to have her eat another brand. I’m glad “Chewy” carried this brand.

Excellent food

Our dogs have always been on the Halo products, and as they've gotten older we've transitioned to the senior diet. The kibble is smaller for easier chewing and digestion. The protein content is lower, which is great for creatine/kidney numbers in older dogs. I've found with our 15 year old Jack soaking the kibble in hot water for 5-10 minutes softens it just enough that he can easily eat it with his older teeth. I supplement with homemade dog food on top, so the senior diet is a great base and I am sure he's getting the crucial nutrients. Excellent quality product.

Kibbles stuck together

I just opened a new bag and found bunch of kibbles stuck together in blocks. This is the 4th bag but the kibbles in this bag is different size (kibbles are not as flat) and color is different from previous batches. I’m not sure if this is a bad contaminated batch or if this is the new formula. Either way, I’m seriously considering to ditch this brand and definitely returning this bad batch. Come to think of it, this is not the only time I received a bad inconsistent batch from Chewy. A few weeks ago I received a bad batch of Tylee’s jerky treats but I just threw it away after picking couple of good ones. I order everything from Chewy — I hope they take this problem seriously and do a better job in quality control.

HALO dry food

This is working out well for my senior lab. I am currently switching him off a vet diet he has been on for a year for stomach issues. So far the transition is going smoothly and it seems to be agreeing with him. The tiny bites are also good for a senior dog who doesn’t like chewing big kibbles anymore.
