Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.

Holistic. Whole. Humane.
When pet parents want to give their pets a holistic food that's made with pure, natural, whole ingredients, they choose Halo. Their recipes use responsibly sourced whole meats and non-GMO vegetables, and never any meat meals, animal by-products or added growth hormones. It's exactly what nature intended—highly digestible ingredients that are slow-cooked in small batches to create dog food with less ash, more bioavailable nutrients and delicious flavor.
Super Digestibility
Halo believes that whole meat equals a whole lot more digestibility. When your pet gets whole proteins instead of rendered meats like chicken meal or fish meal, they're getting optimum nutrition that's easier for their body to digest. And that means they can get the full benefits of each nutrient-rich ingredient.
What's in Your Dog's Bowl?
With Halo, you won't see a "meat meal" hiding anywhere in the ingredients, and there's no corn, wheat, wheat gluten, rice or artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. Here's what you will find:
Holistic Whole Protein: Salmon, chicken, lamb, venison, turkey or beef that's slow-cooked provides a more digestible source of protein with up to 16 times less ash than rendered meat.
Humanely Sourced: Cage-free poultry raised without antibiotics, pasture raised beef from farms that raise animals naturally and wild caught fish from sustainable fisheries.
Non-GMO Produce: Fruits and vegetables from farms that refuse to use genetically modified seeds that rely heavily on chemical fertilizers and herbicides to produce crops.

The Proof Is in the Poop
Because each recipe is made with whole meat, it’s easier for your cat to digest. With Halo, more of the nutrients stay in and go to use inside your cat’s body, so less is likely to come out as waste. Since less is coming out as waste, your cat is utilizing more of the nutrients in Halo cat food.
DreamCoat for a Shiny Coat
The difference Halo makes isn't just on the inside—it shows through in the coat, too. Their exclusive DreamCoat blend is added to dry food formulas to help keep your dog's skin smooth and coat shiny. This combination of botanicals and other ingredients provides balanced essential fatty acids for ongoing skin and coat support.

Halo says NO to:
- Meat meal (rendered meat)
- Animal by-products
- Animals raised with antibiotics
- Corn, wheat, wheat gluten and rice
- Artificial colors, preservatives and flavors
- Compromises and shortcuts
Halo says YES to:
- Whole meat that's responsibly sourced
- Highly digestible whole proteins
- Animals raised as nature intended
- Fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins and minerals
- Holistic, natural ingredients
- Donating to shelters
- Less ash and more bioavailable nutrition

Halo - awesome food that gets great results
By Cindy on Nov 22, 2020
I can't say enough about the high quality ingredients in Halo products. In addition to the fact that all of our dogs love it, we have noticed positive health changes. Vet recommended weight loss, coats are shiny, allergies improved or went away completely, more energy and yes...as advertised, less poop!

Excellent Dog Food
By Dalton on Jul 5, 2020
My Cesky Terrier was having allergies to food with chicken in it. I consulted with my dear friend, who is known in the Dog Show world, and she recommended 2 brands of dog foods. Halo by Ellen Degeneres was one of them. Since eating it, he is more livelier, sassy and no scratching. Glad I went with Halo.

My Beagle Boy loves this food!
By JaspersFavorite on May 17, 2020
Jasper is going on 12 and has been on Halo both kibble mixed with a bit of Halo canned on a regular basis. His eyes are bright, his coat is soft and he is still very playful. I think Halo has everything to do with that!

Super kibble
By Kloey on Apr 2, 2020
Nice small pieces which are great for an old small dog. Pared with some canned Halo and my old boy is set to go. Nice firm poops every time. I love it as much as he does.

Halo didn't work for me
By Teris on Nov 13, 2019
Although I have heard great things about this food my dogs did not do well with it. Constant gas, they were more thirsty than usual and defecated more often. With that being said every dog is different, what didn't work for my pets might be great for your pet.

He likes it!
By Rayneman on Oct 31, 2019
My dog is picky and we don't want to feed dry dog food which includes a bunch of fillers or has been processed at really high temps, which has been a challenge. Most of the dry food we have tried, my dog has not liked. This is the first one he is eating. Finally, we have a winner!

Appears to be working
By tsw2 on Jul 14, 2019
My Scottie was having trouble with his previous food leading to high pH level in his urine. After many months of veterinary diet , testing at home and increased itchiness I decided to try this food. His itchiness decreased dramatically and so far testing shows the pH level is staying within normal range. Both my dogs seem to love this food as well as the canned version when I want to add more moisture to their diet.

Only Halo for my 3 dogs
By PetMom on May 28, 2019
Keeps my dogs in tip top form. I have 3 rescued pups (ages 5, 10 and 10.5 yrs) and many others over my lifetime including foster pups. I have a 12 acre property and my dogs stay fit with Halo. I would not consider feeding them anything else. If you see their photos here one could not believe their ages or how they move. My vet commented one day that they were in such good shape and happy. He told me that if they were people no one would mistake them for anything other than professional athletes. Halo also keeps their coats nice and odor free for the most part. I don't bathe them more than once a month or two. They are also indoor dogs when they are not outside running free and chasing.

Easy on my dogs tummy

A lot of dogs have a hard time with food made with chicken.
