About Halo Holistic

Responsibly Sourced Proteins

Halo Holistic recipes are responsibly sourced, so you can feel good about what you’re feeding your pet. The poultry in their meat-based recipes is sourced with a focus on animal welfare, and the fish they use is either sustainable or wild-caught.

Complete Digestive Health

Immunity starts with a healthy gut. That’s why Halo Holistic is made with prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics for complete digestive health. Prebiotics help nourish good gut bacteria, while probiotics help digest food. Postbiotic compounds help support immune health and overall well-being.

More Protein for Energy

Made with lots of high-quality protein to support muscle maintenance, higher energy and an optimal amino acid profile.

Skin & Coat Support

Halo Holistic recipes have extra omega fatty acids to support healthy skin and a shiny,  soft coat.

Digestive Support

Probiotics and postbiotics in these recipes help support every stage of digestion, plus immunity and overall well-being.

Planet-Friendly Packaging

A stay-fresh zipper helps keep food fresh, and Halo partners with TerraCycle to make it easy to recycle your packaging.

High-Quality & Responsibly Sourced

Every Halo Holistic recipe is responsibly sourced and independently certified. Why? Because certification is the best way to ensure that meat is raised in an ethical manner. These independent organizations ensure that ingredients are sourced in an ethical, sustainable and socially conscious way. The result is higher quality ingredients that contain more nutrients — and higher quality food for your pet.

Prebiotics, Probiotics & Postbiotics

Halo gives you more than just probiotics to help support digestive health. While probiotics are important, helping to digest food, absorb nutrients and maintain gut health, they work even better when paired with prebiotics and postbiotics. Prebiotics feed and nourish good gut bacteria, creating the ideal environment for digestion. Postbiotics help support immune health and overall good health. Together, these three are a digestive health powerhouse!

Questions & Answers

What is the shelf life? We have two kittens and I was considering buying four bags.
Answer by ChewyNov 14, 2019
The "Best Buy Date" is printed on every bag. Unopened bags, stored in a cool, dry place, will last several months. Once you open a bag of dry dog food, it should be completely sealed and stored in a cool dry place. You might want to store it in a dog food container. For the best taste, feed within 2-4 months.

Can this be refrigerated?
Answer by ChewyJun 06, 2022
This recipe is recommended to be stored in a cool dry area protected from moisture.

Company Switched Formula = Sick Cat

We have two ragdoll kitties that have been using this product since birth. Recently, about 2-3 months ago, I noticed that the kibble pieces started to look & smell different. Our youngest cat has been looking slightly off for the last few weeks, along with eating less & less of this particular product. He devours other food products we give him & will even eat his Sister's food. After noticing some lethargy & fur change we took him to the Vet on December 24th, 2022 & they ran a complete blood panel. His Liver is inflamed. She put him on Antibiotics & re-tested 20 days later. Slightly better numbers, but still above normal values. Today we took him for an ultrasound that ruled out anything major like cancer, obstruction, or malformation/malfunction of his Liver via birth defect. All during the last few months his interest in this food has drastically decreased. His sister has also decided to stay away from this food. Today I read the review from another customer saying that their cat has lost weight & is no longer interested in this food. Same exact issue with our little guy. The only thing that has changed in his life is this food looking different & smelling foul. So we are in the process of another round of antibiotics for him (20 days) & we will be switching his food as quickly as we can find a quality alternative. Prior to the formula change, the community food bowl in our house had to be filled almost every day. They would scarf this stuff down. Both of them. Now there is little interest in this stuff & we don't want to continue giving it to them because it's definitely different than it once was & has contributed to his weight loss & maybe caused a flair in his liver enzymes. Both cats are indoor & are the only pets we have. The household is free of plants & toxins that they might ingest that might make liver enzymes spike like that. All other bloodwork for our little guy is normal. His Liver ALT was 322 on December 24th & Yesterday (Jan 12th) it was 250 (normal ALT should be 12-130). Just posting this as a heads up to other customers just in case their kittens/cats have started to lose weight or suddenly stopped eating this product.

Meh - kitten wouldn't eat

My kitten wouldn't eat this food. However, some of the kittens I foster will, which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1.

maybe yes, maybe no

It doesn't seem to be a favorite around here. I know the quality is there but my cats were not thrilled with it

Good for cows

This food smells like hay. Kittens eat it because they're hungry, but don't get excited about it at all.

Formula Change

I recently reordered this product, and I was surprised to find the food reformulated. The kibble is about 60% smaller and much darker in color with a different, less pleasant odor. My kittens rejected this product whereas previously it was eaten with relish. Very disappointed.

Good Kitten Kibble!

My kittens were eating Royal Canin Babycat, which they loved, but I was looking for a higher quality food for them. They loved this immediately. I'm happy with the ingredients and there has been no stomach issues changing foods (for kittens with soft stool, try a probiotic like benebac plus! It really helped my kitties). I don't know if it's a coincidence but my kittens have both become very shiny and soft in the weeks after switching to this food. They also eat wet food twice a day.

Not helping reduce soft stool

I bought this because I heard that it can help reduce soft stool for my Sphynx kitten, but it did not work. Although my kitten loves it, I’m gonna try another brand. I guess it just depends on the cat. Rly hoped it could work:(

Awesome - Kittens love it

The kittens love this food - maybe a little too much as one of them is starting to get a little belly.
