Transition Instructions

Guidelines for changing your pet’s current dry or wet food to Halo dry or wet food:

Days 1-3: 75% old food, 25% Halo

Days 4-5: 50% old food, 50% Halo

Days 6-7: 25% old food, 75% Halo

Days 8+: 100% Halo

Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.

  • Amazing!!!

I own a Pomeranian he turned 11 years old this December. I can honestly say that I finally found the right food for him. The only thing I am sorry for is not finding Halo earlier in his life. My pom has had horrible stomach problems and vomiting all the time. I would take him to the vet and they would just give me meds for him but he would be ok for a few days and back again with the same problem. Since I started him on Halo a month ago he has had no vomiting and his stomach issues have gone away. I thank you so much for making such a great product.

  • My Cocker didn't even realize her food was switched!

Riley, 12+ years old, has always been a good eater unless I try to change her diet to a lower-calorie food. (Who likes diet food? Ha!) She's at a pretty perfect weight now, and I want to keep her there since she is aging. She has been eating Halo Spot's Stew Lamb Recipe for the last two years and loves it. However, I decided to give this senior formula a try. I only bought the small bag because I expected that I'd have to "mix it in." Nope. She had no adjustment and eats it like her normal recipe.

  • Healthy & Tasty (apparently)

    By on

As my boys (Schnauzers) are getting older so I was trying to find a brand that was both healthy and provide what they need at this stage of their lives. I don't remember how I came across Halo but decided to give it a try & glad that I did. Both of them love the taste, nice small bite size food and no side effects from changing to a new food.

  • Old Dog Likes New Food

    By on

With the new recipe, I was concerned about how well our old dog would take to it. When I served the food to her, she didn't miss a beat and ate every morsel.

I will apologize now for the long review but I just can't say enough about this food. I've left reviews for many different dog foods on here but this one takes the cake. My chihuahua is 13 years old and diabetic. He is not only picky but it's very hard to get him to eat, obviously this is not good since he gets insulin shots twice a day. We've been having a lot of issues with his sugar being low and it's causing some eye issues, he squints a lot and although his eyes are fine we're assuming they're hurting. I thought I found the perfect food, venison and grain free and although he wasn't excited about meal time he certainly ate it better than any of the others we've tried. Unfortunately, (or I will apologize now for the long review but I just can't say enough about this food. Unfortunately, (or so I thought at the time) his food was out of stock and he was running very low. So on the hunt I went for another food, which of course means weekly sugar checks until he balances out with the new food. I decided to look for a senior formula because he doesn't like his senior vitamin and try to find a smaller kibble to see if that would help get him to eat. I decided to give Halo senior a try even though it was 2 lbs less per bag and $8 more...if he likes it I don't care what it costs at this point LOL. He started on this food 2 days ago and actually eats it without any type of food topper or canned food added. Today I came home from work and for the first time in a while his eyes were open wide, no squinting, his tail was up and wagging instead of tucked. As I was pouring his food into the storage container he was eating it right out of the bin. As I was getting food bowls filled up for all 3 dogs, he was actually trying to climb my leg to get his dinner! I can't tell you how happy I am to see him so excited for meal time again, it's been at least 2 years since he's seemed to actually enjoy his food and get so excited. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Halo and thank you Chewy! I finally have my little buddy back :) I'm beyond thrilled about this food. If anyone is wondering about kibble size, it's smaller than the chlorpheneramine allergy pill he gets every day LOL … more

  • Great dry food for little dogs.

Like it says on the package, the proof is in the poop. His poop looks good and he seems to go more. And he really likes it which says something because he is very picky.

My girls love this food. I researched cruelty-free pet food and found this brand on Chewy.com. Very pleased with size of kibble and the girls like the flavor.

First time I tried Halo and my dogs love it. The kibble is small but apparently very tasty. I just ordered my 2nd bag.
