Sensitive Digestion, With Grain, Non-GMO, High-Protein
Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.
When pet parents want to give their pets a holistic food that’s made with pure, natural, whole ingredients, they choose Halo. Their recipes use responsibly sourced whole meats and non-GMO vegetables, and never any meat meals, animal by-products or added growth hormones. It’s exactly what nature intended—highly digestible ingredients that are slow-cooked in small batches to create cat food with less ash, more bioavailable nutr
What’s in Your Cat’s Bowl?
With Halo, you won’t see a “meat meal” hiding anywhere in the ingredients, and there’s no corn, wheat, wheat gluten, rice or artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. Here’s what you will find:
Holistic Whole Protein:
Salmon, whitefish, chicken or turkey that’s slow-cooked provides a more digestible source of protein with up to 16 times less ash than rendered meat.
Humanely Sourced:
Cage-free poultry raised without antibiotics, pasture raised beef from farms that raise animals naturally and wild caught fish from sustainable fisheries.
Non-GMO Produce:
Fruits and vegetables from farms that refuse to use genetically modified seeds that rely heavily on chemical fertilizers and herbicides to produce crops.
The Proof Is in the Poop
Because each recipe is made with whole meat, it’s easier for your cat to digest. With Halo, more of the nutrients stay in and go to use inside your cat’s body, so less is likely to come out as waste. Since less is coming out as waste, your cat is utilizing more of the nutrients in Halo cat food.
About Halo
At Halo, the motto, "WHOLE Makes a Whole Lot of Difference" is more than just words. It's the philosophy that drives their holistic approach to ingredient sourcing, recipes, and nutritional value. It's their overall mission to create exceptional food cats and dogs love and pet parents trust. For over 30 years, Halo has insisted on creating only holistic pet foods that rely on whole meat, poultry or fish and never any rendered meat meal. This is the fundamental difference that sets them apart as a premium pet food brand.
Halo's protein sources cruelty free commitment to OrigiNative™ sourcing means that they say no to factory farming and close confinement, instead they choose to work with farmers and ranchers who raise cage-free flocks and pasture raised herds. Halo rejects the factory farm model of close confinement, animals raised with antibiotics, and genetically modified feeds. Instead, Halo fosters naturally raised animals, regenerative soils, and environmental balance. By sourcing cage free poultry, Halo strives to deliver natural protein sources that not only harken back to an era where all of our animals were respected but also serves to provide our companion animals with the high-quality proteins and nutrients they need for good health, shiny coats, and long lives at our sides. Halo's meat, poultry, and fish proteins are third-party certified (Global Animal Partnership or Marine Stewardship Council). They say yes to whole meat and non-GMO fruits and vegetables and no to rendered “meat meal,” artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.
Are the ingredients and food made in the USA? I don't see a reference to where it is made except it does say out sourced which isn't very specific?? Thanks.

Is this food soft enough for a 17 year old?
Answer by • Jan 08, 2018
The food is a crunchy kibble but with added water or gravy it should be soft enough.
what is carb content of this food
Answer by • Jul 17, 2018
This formula has an approximate Carbohydrate content of 34.5%.
I am very sad that my cat food has been sold to a new company. I tried so many kinds of pet food both my cats would like and could eat as one throws up a lot. Halo fit the bill for both my cats they both ate and liked it and the throwing up significantly decreased. Now in doing research I see it has been sold and the recipe has also changed. This food is expensive, but it was working. I have removed it from my auto ship as Chewy didn’t offer a single small bag to try to reintroduce new food once again (new recipe) so I have opted for a small bag of a different food. If the new food works ok. If not, then I will have to look elsewhere for a small bag of the new Halo food so I can slowly reintroduce it to my cats. They say same food, new look, only keep reading and you will see the recipe has changed. This is frustrating for me and my cats.

No more vomiting
I just want to thank everyone for all the positive reviews. I know it might be a little to soon as it's only been like 4 days since I started my cat on this diet. But omg it truly works. No vomiting an hard poo.Happy kitty happy momma. As far as being expensive I would rather pay for this food than pay later at the vet.

Less vomiting!
My Pumpkin is about 14 yrs old (he was a stray I assume 2 at the time I took him in). Recently he began vomiting after every meal and lost weight. X-rays didn't show any obstructions. I switched to this food and removed treats and so far he has only been sick twice in a 10 day period, vs 3 times a day. So far, so good!

Healthy alternative
My cat, Friendly, has stage 3 chronic renal disease. He won't eat the prescription diets and only likes fish flavors. While this isn't the perfect food for him, it has moderate Phosphorus and Protein levels and he really likes it.

It really works!
My cat, Teddy was having issues digesting his food. He would throw up his undigested food every day and his stools were small pieces, no diarrhea. I tried Halo with some misgivings plus it was pricey.
Well it worked! No more vomiting and Teddy’s stools are back to being big and healthy! I had to introduce the Halo gradually with his other kibble and now I just sprinkle in a few (7-8) pellets of his other kibble into his Halo. Like it says on the bag,”the proof is in the poop!”

Big Mistake 3
My cats will not eat this. I have very picky eaters apparently. I shared with my neighbor's and his cat wouldn't eat. It sounds awesome like great for my cats, but if they won't eat then it is a waste.

Kitties appear to be happy with the food
I have used Halo in the past but have been using Orejin as my Hybrid cat is quite particular. Unfortunately my Exotic kitty started having severe tummy troubles & so I have incorporated the Halo Food into the Orejin diet so that my Exotic kitty won't continue to have so many tummy issues. My other cat that I had for 16 1/2 years ate Halo & loved it so I am hoping I can make this change over again. I do wish there was a Sensitive Stomach in the Chicken Formula as it has the required Organ meats that kitties need. Maybe there will be one coming soon I hope.

Helps older cat
My cat is over 20 years old and would throw up her food every day. Since switching to this sensitive cat food, she is able to digest her food much easier so she doesn't throw it up as often. She is also a pretty picky eater, but I had no issues getting her to switch over to the new food.
