Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.

Healthy food, but.... We have 8 cats and they sort of picked at the food, but none of them really chowed it down with relish.

5 Cats and None Will Touch This Food

    By on

Same story as my other Halo wet food review, none of my cats will eat this. They won't eat Halo brand wet food at all. I have 5 rescue kitties, ages 9 to 15, and not a single one of them will eat this. Actually, they won't eat ANY of the wet Halo brand of food that I bought for them. I even tried to mix it with what is considered a lower brand of cat food, their favorite Friskies Shreds. Mixed really well, they try to eat the Halo food from around the Friskies, ending up leaving almost all of it in their bowls. This has gone on for several days, I even tried to switch back to Friskies and add a tiny bit of the Halo at a time. It must be the smell, they will not eat it, follow me around Same story as my other Halo wet food review, none of my cats will eat this. They won't eat Halo brand wet food at all. Rabbit is a favorite

    By on

My cat really likes the rabbit Impulse Halo and has been eating it for the last year. It's a constant in the rotation. I am recently feeding her a whole 5.5 oz can at night. She had been screaming for more food with less. Will be watching her weight weekly to make sure she doesn't gain weight. She gets a 5.5 oz of another brand in the morning, so she isn't just eating one thing. Finding the 2nd food has been a challenge. Wish she liked the other Impulse Halo flavors! FYI, she is 11 lbs.

Good product but my cats won't eat it.

I have two cats, ages 19 and 1 1/2. I feed only high quality foods including Halo Spot's Stew and Impulse, Newman's Own Organics and NOW!. I also supplement with Hills prescription a/d for the senior cat. No matter which canned food I use, I've learned to blend it in a tiny food processor as my 19 yr old won't tolerate little solid bits in his food. I use all the flavors of each of the above types of cat food (the NOW! is dry food). This Impulse canned food made with rabbit is the ONLY one they just refuse to eat. I'm giving it 3 stars because it's made with great ingredients, but that doesn't help if the cats won't eat it. At least mine won't - maybe yours will. I think maybe it just tastes too gamey - domestic cats are more used to birds like chicken and turkey. I guess that's why they do eventually eat the guinea hen and quail versions of Impluse. By the way, the Impulse foods tend to be much firmer than Halo Spot's Stew or Newman's Own Organics - you may have to add a bit of water and mush it up. A small inconvenience for high quality food. … more

My cats like this for the taste and I like this for the content. It has great healthy ingredients and I like offering them a rabbit variety that doesn't break the bank.

    My cats LOVE this!

    By on

Finding a premium canned cat food can be difficult with multiple cats but Halo Impulse Rabbit fits the bill with ALL of them! I especially like not only the alternative protein but the grain-free formulation. Thank you, Halo, you have saved my kitty who has IBD - he now has something to eat that his tummy can tolerate!

    Different recipe?

    By on

I have a big problem with the Halo company right now. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but I really think they've changed the recipe. The problem is, I've contacted Halo and they have denied it. I bought a couple of cans at a retail store, and both of my cats loved it, absolutely devoured it. I ordered a case from chewy, and they're refusing to eat it. I noticed that the new cans had a different batch and BB date. I tried to feed them the newer batch several times and they continued to ignore it. I even went back to the retail store, and when I fed them the older dated cans, they again devoured them. I have no other explanation than thinking they changed the recipe, and not admitting I have a big problem with the Halo company right now.
