    My 6 liked it!

By Colleen on Aug 21, 2020

My 6 cats enjoyed this food. The pate is firm so pickier cats may have an issue with the texture. My 5 boys eat anything. My one little girl can be a bit pickier but she enjoyed this food. I personally don’t mind the firmness. It seems like I get more food with firmer pate’s. Any food with rabbit seems My 6 cats enjoyed this food. The company seems to have a good reputation. I feed it to my cats once a week to mix it up and add variety. Will definitely order again and keep it in the rotation as long as the price stays somewhat reasonable. … more

    Rabbit pate

By Audi on Nov 8, 2020

Again, my 3 kitties didn't like the rabbit pate. It smelled great and I thought since they stare down the rabbits that are in our yard they would enjoy eating rabbit but that is not the case.

    Humanely raised proteins, weirdly firm

    By on

I choose to start buying Halo because I am a vegetarian who doesn't love feeding my cats meat but knows it's essential for their health. I did some research into ethical pet food brands and found that Halo was the most accessable brand that totes certified humanely raised proteins. They do not source proteins from factory farms so the animals are not given unnecessary antibiotics or growth hormones. It is worth the higher price tag for the ethical treatment of animals. I especially like this variety because rabbit is a more sustainable protein, but isn't commonly the main protein in cat foods. Halo has funky standards for the consistency of their food. Their pate food is much, much firmer than most pate foods. The stew varieties are more similar to a traditional pate. I add a little bit of extra water and mix it up with the food to prevent chronic dehydration in my cats. I prefer the "stews" just because they are easier to smash and mix with water. My cats have happily eaten every variety of Halo wet food I have given them, but they are not at all picky. They have never turned down any food I've offered them! … more

My cat loves Halo. First time trying this flavor. The texture is a little harder than others.

    Sensitive stomach

    By on

Our poor cat has had stomach issues for a LONG time. Took him off his cortisone regime after he started eating Halo Sensitive. No more frequent vomiting except for an occasional fur ball. This food is a little on the dry side. I have to add a few drops of water to it.

Rabbit & Greens Grain Free Pate

    By on

Initially my cat was excited to be introduced to these new flavors, but then she seemed to tire of it. So, I am alternating this pate with her usual Turkey Duck pate. She seems happier doing it this way.

    Cat Enjoys so...

    By on

As other reviews have said this food is on the dry side. I had no issue adding water to it to moisten it up. I do prefer to get more meat than liquid, but it could be just a little wetter. My cat enjoys it so I can't complain too much as that's what counts.

    Dense Pate, But Still Good

    By on

Before trying this one, I tried a different rabbit canned food that had big meaty bits, which I had to mash up for them to eat it. This is a pate style cat food which my cats prefer much better. It's a bit dense and dry though, so I add a little water to it before serving it. My 2 boys really like it that way. My girl will eat it, but would prefer salmon. Rabbit is also a good protein for the boy with kidney problems. I've been mixing some of this with his prescription wet food and that works well on his good days. The ingredients seem to be high quality. I will buy it again.

Cats like it, but I have to add water and blend it into a pate.

    By on Top 500 Contributor

My cats liked this a lot, they seemed to really enjoy the flavor, BUT only ate the bulk of it after I added warm water and made it into the soft juicy pate they like/expect. It's just not worth the hassle, honestly, when Halo makes SOFT pates in other flavors that they eat straight out of the can. If you cats prefer a HARD pate that you cut into BITES, then they should love this, but if your cats are "lickers/lappers" like mine, and expect to not have to chew, this isn't going to be their favorite (unless you mix in water and blend it yourself). Out of the can, this is a hard firm lump with NO broth/gravy/juice/gel of any kind (you actually have to "wedge" it out of the can, it's that firm). It's sad that my convenience matters more to me than my cat's happiness, because they really loved this flavor, but I don't have time to blend up 3 cat's worth of food-soup every single time I open a can. I want a food that COMES with some water/broth IN it already. … more

Hard coarse texture, but my finicky cats will eat this!

    By on

My cats, both of whom have Inflammatory Bowel Disease, are supremely finicky. They both seem to like this, and both have tolerated well without developing symptoms. Texture is oddly coarse and grainy and weirdly dry for a canned food. I add water to try and moisten it and smooth it out just a bit. Wish it didn't have caragenan. Also wish it was a more limited ingredient recipe (ala IBD cats) and only one protein (rabbit), but then again, maybe my little guys wouldn't eat it if it were. Also, according to label, one would need to feed 2 (5.5 oz) cans daily to a 10 lb cat, which is more than with other canned foods. Makes it difficult for my underweight finicky cats to eat enough of it to keep My cats, both of whom have Inflammatory Bowel Disease, are supremely finicky.
