Feeding Instructions

Adult: Feed 3/4 oz per pound of body weight (5-10 lbs) and 2/3 oz per pound of body weight (10-15 lbs) per day, split into two servings.

Transition Instructions
  • Days 1 - 3: 75% non Halo food, 25% Halo

  • Days 4 - 5: 50% non Halo food, 50% Halo

  • Days 6 - 7: 25% non Halo food, 75% Halo

  • Days 8+: 100% Halo

Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.

Humanely raised proteins, but weirdly firm

    By Sarah96 on Jun 9, 2020

I choose to start buying Halo because I am a vegetarian who doesn't love feeding my cats meat but knows it's essential for their health. I did some research into ethical pet food brands and found that Halo was the most accessable brand that totes certified humanely raised proteins. They do not source proteins from factory farms so the animals are not given unnecessary antibiotics or growth hormones. It is worth the higher price tag for the ethical treatment of animals. Halo has funky standards for the consistency of their food. Their pate food is much, much firmer than most pate foods. The stew varieties are more similar to a traditional pate. I add a little bit of extra water and mix it up with the food to prevent chronic dehydration in my cats. I prefer the "stews" just because they are easier to smash and mix with water. My cats have happily eaten every variety of Halo wet food I have given them, but they are not at all picky. They have never turned down any food I've offered them! … more

    cats love this food!

By dmrc on Mar 18, 2020

I tried multiple brands and flavors of cat food and my cats love this the most. I have a sick cat that I have to mix meds. into her food and she will eat this with the meds. in it, no problem. Also, the quality of the food is very good, even according to my vet.

    My elderly cat loves this!

By Chayla on Nov 29, 2019

It's so hard finding a food that a picky eater (my 15 year old kitty) will eat, and especially hard finding one that isn't the kitty equivalent of junk food. Halo is a good company, and they make good, healthy food. Best of all, my picky eater loves it!

    Cats didn't care for it!

By NOTAGREATCHOICE on Oct 31, 2019

My two year old cats are spoiled. They are at the point where they will only eat Squeeze Ups and Sheba treats. I thought since pate they would enjoy. Not moist enough. I have had other brands of pate that had a lot more moisture in them. Sorry
