Feeding Instructions

Adult: Feed 1 ounce per pound of body weight per day, split into two servings.

Transition Instructions
  • Days 1 - 3: 75% non Halo food, 25% Halo

  • Days 4 - 5: 50% non Halo food, 50% Halo

  • Days 6 - 7: 25% non Halo food, 75% Halo

  • Days 8+: 100% Halo

Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.

FAQ

Is canned food bad for my pet’s teeth?

No. While many vets recommend dry food to "keep teeth clean and healthy" it is a fact that many pets do not chew their food well enough to get any abrasive cleaning action from dry food. Whether you feed dry or canned food the single most important thing for dental health is tooth brushing.

Why does Halo refer to its products as natural?

Because it is! AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) defines "natural" pet food as having ingredients from ONLY plant, animal or mined sources. These foods cannot be highly processed or contain chemically synthetic ingredients, such as artificial flavors, preservatives or colorings.

Why does Halo refer to its products as holistic?

The holistic viewpoint that Halo has stems from the belief that health is achieved by focusing on the whole body through natural living. Halo believes that the quality of ingredients a pet eats is the foundation of overall well-being but that elimination of harsh chemicals from food, treats and the environment is also critical to achieve optimal health.

Why does Halo use so much egg and peas in their formulations?

Halo uses eggs and peas as an additional source of highly digestible protein to support protein levels in all formulations. Halo does not use meat meal as a concentrated source of dried protein and uses only whole real meat ingredients. It is more difficult to achieve very high protein levels when using whole real meat instead of a meat meal. We feel the eggs and peas are healthier alternatives to meat meal.

Why does Halo avoid rice and corn in their foods?

Halo defines corn and white rice as "fillers". These are carbohydrates that may raise blood sugar levels rapidly and create hormonal signals that may have negative long term effects on metabolism and weight gain. Corn and rice based diets may also contribute to chronic symptoms of maldigestion, such as gas, bloating, and diarrhea. Halo makes healthier carbohydrate choices by using whole grains such as barley and oats and vegetables like sweet potatoes. These carbohydrates are nutrient-dense because they supply energy as well as high levels of fiber for digestive health and high levels of vitamins and minerals for overall health.

About Halo Wet Cat Food

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

Halo is committed to providing no less than the best holistic recipes to satisfy your cat’s carnivorous cravings. Their wet cat food combines pure, natural ingredients like whole meat, poultry and fish plus non-GMO fruits and vegetables for delicious, more digestible meals. Following a whole meat philosophy, Halo never uses animal by-products or meat meals—just the real, whole proteins your cat needs to thrive.

Super Digestibility

Halo believes that whole meat equals a whole lot more digestibility. As obligate carnivores, cats need meat, not just parts of animals that you wouldn’t consider to be meat. When your pet gets whole proteins instead of rendered meats like chicken meal or fish meal, they’re getting optimum nutrition that’s easier for their body to digest. And that means they can get the full benefits of each nutrient-rich ingredient.

What's in Your Cat's Bowl?

With Halo, you won’t see a "meat meal" hiding anywhere in the ingredients, and there’s no corn, wheat, wheat gluten, rice or artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. Here’s what you will find:

Holistic Whole Protein: Salmon, whitefish, chicken or turkey that's slow-cooked provides a more digestible source of protein with up to 16 times less ash than rendered meat.

Non-GMO Produce: Fruits and vegetables from farms that refuse to use genetically modified seeds that rely heavily on chemical fertilizers and herbicides to produce crops.

    Good quality

    By RescueMom on Jan 28, 2021 top250Contributor

My cats like this and it's great quality, so I buy it for them every so often. Wish it were a bit less expensive, but it makes them happy so I buy it sometimes.

    Love the convenience

By Alleycat on Jun 11, 2020

I love the service and my cats love their Halo food. Finally found my cats' 2 favorites (Seafood Medley Pate and Chicken/Beef). Even got cat litter this time so it is helpful to not have to carry heavy box to car. I'll be shopping for bird food next. Thank you!

too soupy & wet for my cats diet

By grace on Jun 2, 2020

I had high hopes for this flavor but was not impressed when I opened it and the consistency was hardly paté. It was very soupy and wet, my cat did not like it at all but enjoys the other paté flavors from this brand.

    Comment about Halo cat food

By Joyce on Feb 21, 2020

Guess all 4 of my furbabies are a little "cranky" because none really were crazy about this "pate" wet food. They ate this because they were hungry but didn't dive into like I would have liked for them to. Also, they help each other eat their food so it sooner or later gets eaten . I will be trying something else next time.

    Passed my cats approval

By Cheri on Jan 18, 2020

So far my cat likes the seafood flavour. She is very finicky and i was very apprehensive about purchasing this brand for her. To my surprise she likes it and I am happy. She only likes the pate’ style and this is pate’ but with a little juice in it. She did not seem to mind and I think it gives more flavour & moisture. I would recommend this product for finicky cats.

    Cats Love it!

    By mama4 on Jan 4, 2020

This was the first time trying this particular flavor. My cats devoured it. They like the others and I have one that’s extremely picky. She doesn’t leave any in her bowl of this flavor.

Good stuff and he likes it

By Chet on Aug 8, 2018

I did some research on canned cat foods that did not have any ingredients from China and Halo was one of the few. Just because a food is manufactured in the US doesn't mean the ingredients are from the US. I thought Halo only made Spots Stew but they have several pate varieties. He likes the seafood ones, but I have to admit, my cat isn't terribly picky.
