Transition Instructions

Guidelines for changing your pet’s current dry or wet food to Halo dry or wet food:

Days 1-3: 75% old food, 25% Halo

Days 4-5: 50% old food, 50% Halo

Days 6-7: 25% old food, 75% Halo

Days 8+: 100% Halo

Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.

About Halo Wet Cat Food

America's Best Loved Holistic Brand
Holistic. Whole. Humane.

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

Halo is committed to providing no less than the best holistic recipes to satisfy your cat’s carnivorous cravings. Their wet cat food combines pure, natural ingredients like whole meat, poultry and fish plus non-GMO fruits and vegetables for delicious, more digestible meals. Following a whole meat philosophy, Halo never uses animal by-products or meat meals—just the real, whole proteins your cat needs to thrive.

Superior Digestibility

Halo believes that whole meat equals a whole lot more digestibility. As obligate carnivores, cats need meat, not just parts of animals that you wouldn’t consider to be meat. When your pet gets whole proteins instead of rendered meats like chicken meal or fish meal, they’re getting optimum nutrition that’s easier for their body to digest. And that means they can get the full benefits of each nutrient-rich ingredient.

What's in Your Cat's Bowl?

With Halo, you won’t see a meat meal hiding anywhere in the ingredients, and there’s no corn, wheat, wheat gluten, rice or artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. Here’s what you will find:

Holistic Whole Meat: Salmon, whitefish, chicken or turkey that's slow-cooked provides a more digestible source of protein with up to 16 times less ash than rendered meat.

Non-GMO Produce: Fruits and vegetables from farms that refuse to use genetically modified seeds that rely heavily on chemical fertilizers and herbicides to produce crops.

  • Why I love your Halo senior canned cat food

    By on

I have three 18 year old cats and 2 of them have kidney disease. They were eating their prescription cat food but one stopped eating his food, he didn't like it anymore, he wanted something else. I had read that a good quality cat food without any grain in it might work. They all love their Halo senior grain free cat food and so far they are all doing very well on it. Plus I like Halo's ingredients much better.

  • My cat has never hated anything so much.

    By on

My cat is pretty easy going and will eat anything. She let's me know what she doesn't like, but she'll still eat it. This cat food was a total miss for her. She refused to eat it, opting for a complete hunger strike. I tried everything to make this more palatable but in the end I cave. She wins. The food itself is a solid pate and has a fine smell. Not too messy.

  • My Cats won’t eat it

    By on

I thought this would be a really good wet food choice for my two 16 year old cats after reading the healthy-sounding description because they LOVE the Purina One senior pâtés but there isn’t a turkey. Sadly, I’ve offered this food to them several times and after a bite or two they just walk away!

  • This is PATE...

    By on Top 500 Contributor

Halo is mislabeling this as shredded wet food. It is hands down PATE and even my outdoor cats, that will eat anything, won't touch it. NOT CHEWY'S FAULT. I will never order anything Halo again.

My baby is about 15 years old and I have never once seen her turn down wet cat food of any kind. ...until now. She just sniffs is and walks away.

  • Wish My Cats Liked This Product

    By on

There are few canned foods available for senior cats. I purchased this hoping to provide a little variety, but none of my cats like it. The texture is more of a pate, but that is what they prefer. I'll just stick with the Purina products as those are a hit.

  • New Food No Go

    By on

My Samantha won't eat this food. She turns her nose up and tries to bury it. May be because it's pate and she doesn't like that form. Was hoping she'd enjoy the change.

I am in heaven! I couldn’t get enough of this! Mom wouldn’t give me more...I cleaned my plate and then I cleaned the fork. I hope this wasn’t a one time deal!

I bought this to move my cat to a grain-free diet. She refuses to eat it. Will have to try a different brand to see what happens.
