About Halo Dry Cat Food

America's Best Loved Holistic Brand
Holistic. Whole. Humane.

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

When pet parents want to give their pets a holistic food that's made with pure, natural, whole ingredients, they choose Halo. Their recipes use responsibly sourced whole meats and non-GMO vegetables, and never any meat meals, animal by-products or added growth hormones. It's exactly what nature intended—highly digestible ingredients that are slow-cooked in small batches to create cat food with less ash, more bioavailable nutrients and delicious flavor.

Proven Superior Digestibility

Halo believes that whole meat equals a whole lot more digestibility. As obligate carnivores, cats need meat, not just parts of animals that you wouldn't consider to be meat. When your pet gets whole proteins instead of rendered meats like chicken meal or fish meal, they're getting optimum nutrition that's easier for their body to digest. And that means they can get the full benefits of each nutrient-rich ingredient.

What's in Your Cat's Bowl?

With Halo, you won't see a meat meal hiding anywhere in the ingredients, and there's no corn, wheat, wheat gluten, rice or artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. Here's what you will find:

Holistic Whole Meat: Salmon, whitefish, chicken or turkey that's slow-cooked provides a more digestible source of protein with up to 16 times less ash than rendered meat.

Originative Protein: Humanely sourced meats like cage-free poultry and wild-caught fish from sustainable fisheries—all raised naturally without antibiotics.

Non-GMO Produce: Fruits and vegetables from farms that refuse to use genetically modified seeds that rely heavily on chemical fertilizers and herbicides to produce crops.

The Proof Is in the Poop

The Proof Is in the Poop

Because each recipe is made with whole meat, it's easier for your cat to digest. With Halo, more of the nutrients stay in and go to use inside your cat's body, so less is likely to come out as waste. In a digestibility test performed by an independent US laboratory, Halo's kibble came out at the top of the rankings.

DreamCoat for a Shiny Coat

The difference Halo makes isn't just on the inside—it shows through in the coat, too. Their exclusive DreamCoat blend is added to dry food formulas to help keep your cat's skin smooth and coat shiny. This combination of botanicals and other ingredients provides balanced essential fatty acids for ongoing skin and coat support.

DreamCoat for a Shiny Coat

Halo says NO to:

  • Meat meal (rendered meat)

  • Unhappy With Change

    By on

I have used Halo dog and cat food for a long time. I love the quality and the product itself. However recently they changed the formula for some reason. Contrary to what they say the animals do NOT like it. I have two French Bulldogs and they will eat it, but do not like it. ( Anyone who know Frenchies know they will eat anything.) I have tried all versions of the dry cat food, and my Siamese cats will no longer eat it.

Kiki loved it immediately. She's had an awful problem with constipation and now eats just Spot's Stew and canned tuna. No more problems!

  • Great for sensitive kittys

    By on

I've had previous issues with my cat ( Breed Birman) throwing up her food. I love what this brand stands for and it's ingredients so I decided to try the sensitive stomach line and see if that helps her issues. I've incorporated it into her diet and I've noticed a dramatic difference! No more issues with throwing up her food, just the occasional hairball. So happy I've found something that agrees with her stomach that she loves, literally almost chew through the bag when it was delivered! Give it a try!

Sensitive stomach kitty not vomiting as much and all my cats love it! I’m impressed by the high quality and Halo’s best practices with ingredient sourcing and eco friendly methods. Makes me feel really great to watch them happily crunching their kibble! They love the Halo wet food too!

  • My cats love it!

    By on

I normally use Halo Chicken dry cat food (formerly Spots Stew). Wanted to try something different for my three cats. And all three love it! Will be purchasing again, although 6 lb bag does cost more than 11.5 lb I generally purchase. Perhaps they'll eventually come out with larger bag of this one (& Salmon, too). Hopefully so.

  • some llked others did not

    By on

Can't say too much, because some ate it the first time and not any more and others just didn't even try it. Probably is okay but my cats are really finicky. That is why I always just buy small sacks to start with until I see if it is worth purchase larger amounts. Hard to recommend one way or the other.

  • Jury still out on this cat food

    By on

My cat didn't eat much of the Spot's Stew dry cat food, but when he did he didn't vomit anymore. But, he went from eating very little of the food to not eating it at all, so I guess he decided he didn't like it. That's not a criticism of the product; it's just that my cat didn't care for it. However, I hesitate to recommend the food at this time. I gave the remaining food to a neighbor, so I'll ask her if her cats liked it.
