  • Days 6 - 7: 25% non Halo food, 75% Halo

Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.

FAQ

Is canned food bad for my pet’s teeth?

No. While many vets recommend dry food to "keep teeth clean and healthy" it is a fact that many pets do not chew their food well enough to get any abrasive cleaning action from dry food. Whether you feed dry or canned food the single most important thing for dental health is tooth brushing.

Why does Halo refer to its products as natural?

Because it is! AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) defines "natural" pet food as having ingredients from ONLY plant, animal or mined sources. These foods cannot be highly processed or contain chemically synthetic ingredients, such as artificial flavors, preservatives or colorings.

Why does Halo refer to its products as holistic?

The holistic viewpoint that Halo has stems from the belief that health is achieved by focusing on the whole body through natural living. Halo believes that the quality of ingredients a pet eats is the foundation of overall well-being but that elimination of harsh chemicals from food, treats and the environment is also critical to achieve optimal health.

Why does Halo use so much egg and peas in their formulations?

Halo uses eggs and peas as an additional source of highly digestible protein to support protein levels in all formulations. Halo does not use meat meal as a concentrated source of dried protein and uses only whole real meat ingredients. It is more difficult to achieve very high protein levels when using whole real meat instead of a meat meal. We feel the eggs and peas are healthier alternatives to meat meal.

Why does Halo avoid rice and corn in their foods?

Halo defines corn and white rice as "fillers". These are carbohydrates that may raise blood sugar levels rapidly and create hormonal signals that may have negative long term effects on metabolism and weight gain. Corn and rice based diets may also contribute to chronic symptoms of maldigestion, such as gas, bloating, and diarrhea. Halo makes healthier carbohydrate choices by using whole grains such as barley and oats and vegetables like sweet potatoes. These carbohydrates are nutrient-dense because they supply energy as well as high levels of fiber for digestive health and high levels of vitamins and minerals for overall health.

About Halo Wet Cat Food

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

Halo is committed to providing no less than the best holistic recipes to satisfy your cat’s carnivorous cravings. Their wet cat food combines pure, natural ingredients like whole meat, poultry and fish plus non-GMO fruits and vegetables for delicious, more digestible meals. Following a whole meat philosophy, Halo never uses animal by-products or meat meals—just the real, whole proteins your cat needs to thrive.

Super Digestibility

Halo believes that whole meat equals a whole lot more digestibility. As obligate carnivores, cats need meat, not just parts of animals that you wouldn’t consider to be meat. When your pet gets whole proteins instead of rendered meats like chicken meal or fish meal, they’re getting optimum nutrition that’s easier for their body to digest. And that means they can get the full benefits of each nutrient-rich ingredient.

What's in Your Cat's Bowl?

With Halo, you won’t see a "meat meal" hiding anywhere in the ingredients, and there’s no corn, wheat, wheat gluten, rice or artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. Here’s what you will find:

Holistic Whole Protein: Salmon, whitefish, chicken or turkey that's slow-cooked provides a more digestible source of protein with up to 16 times less ash than rendered meat.

Non-GMO Produce: Fruits and vegetables from farms that refuse to use genetically modified seeds that rely heavily on chemical fertilizers and herbicides to produce crops.

    Whole Peas????

    By on

My cat likes this food but hates the whole PEAS and pieces of beans that are mixed in. I have to go through the food and pick all of it out before I can serve it to my cat. I called the company and they apologized saying she would report it to quality control. It is supposed to all be ground up!!!! This is my third order of the Stew Mix and it has ALL contained whole peas!!!

    My cat loves it

    By on Top 250 Contributor

Our calico cat was recently diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and her appetite has not been good. I went to the local pet store and bought several different kinds of canned food. The Halo Spot's Stew was a real hit with her and she wolfs it down. After finding out how much she enjoys it, I ordered a case of the Spot's Stew turkey, chicken and salmon for her from Chewy's. She continues to eat it voraciously. I love the fact that the ingredients are quality and that it actually smells great when you open the can.....like human food. In addition to the quality ingredients, it is a very moist food so it helps with her hydration. I will continue to purchase the Spot's Stew for her as she eats it Our calico cat was recently diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and her appetite has not been good. Cat's Favorite

    By on

We have two cats that eat Halo wet food daily. I rotate chicken, turkey, fish and beef. Their preference is the pate. It is the only food that they will eat and finish their twice a day feedings. They are healthy and energetic with shiny fur.

    A winner with my cats.

    By on

I’ve transitioned my cats (4) to a wet food only diet. Now I’m trying to work that into a Rotation diet. They eat twice a day, usually a different protein each time. This is one that they enjoy. However, cats are finicky, and food that one cat loves another may reject. That’s where Chewy’s great customer service comes in! They stand behind everything they sell and are very responsive to customers’ concerns!

    Turkey Recipe Contains Garlic Powder

    By on

My cats liked it but I noticed garlic powder is one of the ingredients. Because of that I am unlikely to buy it again unless Halo takes it out of the recipe. I emailed Halo about this but have not heard back from them.

I'm really impressed with this company. They make a good, tasty product and they also focus on the big picture - from sourcing to the end product. I also appreciate their #HaloFeedItForward program. Just good business and my household couldn't be more pleased. Cats eat this right up and so does my sneaky Doberman!!
