Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.
No. While many vets recommend dry food to "keep teeth clean and healthy" it is a fact that many pets do not chew their food well enough to get any abrasive cleaning action from dry food. Whether you feed dry or canned food the single most important thing for dental health is tooth brushing.
Because it is! AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) defines "natural" pet food as having ingredients from ONLY plant, animal or mined sources. These foods cannot be highly processed or contain chemically synthetic ingredients, such as artificial flavors, preservatives or colorings.
The holistic viewpoint that Halo has stems from the belief that health is achieved by focusing on the whole body through natural living. Halo believes that the quality of ingredients a pet eats is the foundation of overall well-being but that elimination of harsh chemicals from food, treats and the environment is also critical to achieve optimal health.
Halo uses eggs and peas as an additional source of highly digestible protein to support protein levels in all formulations. Halo does not use meat meal as a concentrated source of dried protein and uses only whole real meat ingredients. It is more difficult to achieve very high protein levels when using whole real meat instead of a meat meal. We feel the eggs and peas are healthier alternatives to meat meal.
Halo defines corn and white rice as "fillers". These are carbohydrates that may raise blood sugar levels rapidly and create hormonal signals that may have negative long term effects on metabolism and weight gain. Corn and rice based diets may also contribute to chronic symptoms of maldigestion, such as gas, bloating, and diarrhea. Halo makes healthier carbohydrate choices by using whole grains such as barley and oats and vegetables like sweet potatoes. These carbohydrates are nutrient-dense because they supply energy as well as high levels of fiber for digestive health and high levels of vitamins and minerals for overall health.

This is more like a wet pate than a stew. Quality food with lots of moisture. 8 of my cats love this food.
Cats love it - clean their bowls - and I know I am feeding them healthy food
I used to love this brand for my cats until they suddenly did something, either on their recipe or something else, I thought it was only dry food, but sadly it is not, I tried to keep on loving on this brand for my cats, but I can tell their food is not what it used to be before, I really can't keep on risking my cats health, they have thrown up and having trouble doing their business in the litter box, Halo don't really deserve stars as before :( Halo used to be good, now not so more, now trying to get other type of foods for my furry ones. Donated the rest of cans since I don't want to risk my cats health. Bye Bye Halo
Love these boxes, but the manufacturer put huge stickers on the box and lid. They even put one on the inside floor of the box, and since they are impossible to remove cleanly, the litter now sticks to the residue. Very frustrating.
Our picky cats love it! And we have three of them!! It’s hard to do better than that!
At first my cats seemed to take a liking to this food, but that didn't last long. They refused to eat it, even the stray cats outside left the food. So off to another hunt!
Lots of gravy and soft texture. Was eaten quickly by all my cats. One of their favorites.
I've kept Halo wet foods in my rotation for well over a year and my cats are always eager to eat it! This flavor seems to be their favorite. No tummy upsets, healthy stools, and soft coats. It's a good quality food from a trustworthy brand. My only grip would be it's more of a pate than a stew, but that's what my cats prefer anyway. I would recommend giving it a try!
Cats won’t try it, both stuck their nose up to it. Purchased this and another Halo, they did same thing
I have been disappointed in the last few batches of Turkey Stew. It doesn't have the smooth texture it used to have and is not ground fine enough. I have found small bones in both the Turkey Stew and Chicken and Beef. Why should I have to put my fingers in the food to look for bones before feeding? I am contacting the company to express my concerns. Unless their processing changes, I don't think I feel good about recommending their food, which I have been feeding my cats for over 18 years.
