Transition Instructions
  • Days 1 - 3: 75% non Halo food, 25% Halo

  • Days 6 - 7: 25% non Halo food, 75% Halo

Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.

FAQ

Is canned food bad for my pet’s teeth?

No. While many vets recommend dry food to "keep teeth clean and healthy" it is a fact that many pets do not chew their food well enough to get any abrasive cleaning action from dry food. Whether you feed dry or canned food the single most important thing for dental health is tooth brushing.

Why does Halo refer to its products as natural?

Because it is! AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) defines "natural" pet food as having ingredients from ONLY plant, animal or mined sources. These foods cannot be highly processed or contain chemically synthetic ingredients, such as artificial flavors, preservatives or colorings.

Why does Halo refer to its products as holistic?

The holistic viewpoint that Halo has stems from the belief that health is achieved by focusing on the whole body through natural living. Halo believes that the quality of ingredients a pet eats is the foundation of overall well-being but that elimination of harsh chemicals from food, treats and the environment is also critical to achieve optimal health.

Why does Halo use so much egg and peas in their formulations?

Halo uses eggs and peas as an additional source of highly digestible protein to support protein levels in all formulations. Halo does not use meat meal as a concentrated source of dried protein and uses only whole real meat ingredients. It is more difficult to achieve very high protein levels when using whole real meat instead of a meat meal. We feel the eggs and peas are healthier alternatives to meat meal.

Why does Halo avoid rice and corn in their foods?

Halo defines corn and white rice as "fillers". These are carbohydrates that may raise blood sugar levels rapidly and create hormonal signals that may have negative long term effects on metabolism and weight gain. Corn and rice based diets may also contribute to chronic symptoms of maldigestion, such as gas, bloating, and diarrhea. Halo makes healthier carbohydrate choices by using whole grains such as barley and oats and vegetables like sweet potatoes. These carbohydrates are nutrient-dense because they supply energy as well as high levels of fiber for digestive health and high levels of vitamins and minerals for overall health.

About Halo Wet Cat Food

America's Best Loved Holistic Brand
Holistic. Whole. Humane.

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

Halo is committed to providing no less than the best holistic recipes to satisfy your cat’s carnivorous cravings. Their wet cat food combines pure, natural ingredients like whole meat, poultry and fish plus non-GMO fruits and vegetables for delicious, more digestible meals. Following a whole meat philosophy, Halo never uses animal by-products or meat meals—just the real, whole proteins your cat needs to thrive.

Superior Digestibility

Halo believes that whole meat equals a whole lot more digestibility. As obligate carnivores, cats need meat, not just parts of animals that you wouldn’t consider to be meat. When your pet gets whole proteins instead of rendered meats like chicken meal or fish meal, they’re getting optimum nutrition that’s easier for their body to digest. And that means they can get the full benefits of each nutrient-rich ingredient.

What's in Your Cat's Bowl?

With Halo, you won’t see a meat meal hiding anywhere in the ingredients, and there’s no corn, wheat, wheat gluten, rice or artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. Here’s what you will find:

Holistic Whole Meat: Salmon, whitefish, chicken or turkey that's slow-cooked provides a more digestible source of protein with up to 16 times less ash than rendered meat.

Non-GMO Produce: Fruits and vegetables from farms that refuse to use genetically modified seeds that rely heavily on chemical fertilizers and herbicides to produce crops.

  • Cats will not touch it

    By on

I was looking to switch up my cats wet food and saw good reviews, so gave this product a try. I tried this with my two adult cats and they completely snubbed it. Sniffed it and walked away. I also tried it with my adult foster cat and got the same reaction.

  • It's a HIT

    By on

Young cat prefers FISH so I tried this choice, and she loves it! If I want other of her less-fond-of canned cat foods to "disappear", I blend this one with them and serve. Now that I'm sure what she likes I can order confidently.

  • Best Ever for my cats

    By on

I've been feeding my cats Halo since before they became a national brand. I credit it with the healthy longevity that they have all had.

  • Lots of veggies

    By on

Too many veggies. Cat will not eat the peas in this food. Otherwise it is okay. It's a good product but my cat does not like it any more.

  • Cat says it's yummy!

    By on

We have this in rotation with 2 other grain-free canned foods, and our adult can (13 yrs old) is super happy with the situation. What I like about this food is that it stays away from salmon and tuna, which are higher up on the food chain than is natural for a cat...this is a much more sustainable and foodchain-appropriate way for my cat to eat the fishies she loves!

  • Cats liked it.

Both of my cats liked this flavor. I thought it was a little pricey, but I like supporting companies who use sustainable fishing and don't test on animals.

  • HRH APPROVES HEARTILY

This is the ONLY canned food that my little queen will "deign" to eat. Whitefish pate by Halo is the only way to go, and it gets five hungry stars!
