Feeding Instructions

Adult: Feed 3/4 - 1 oz per pound of body weight per day split into two servings.

Transition Instructions
  • Days 1 - 3: 75% non Halo food, 25% Halo

  • Days 4 - 5: 50% non Halo food, 50% Halo

  • Days 6 - 7: 25% non Halo food, 75% Halo

  • Days 8+: 100% Halo

Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.

FAQ

Is canned food bad for my pet’s teeth?

No. While many vets recommend dry food to "keep teeth clean and healthy" it is a fact that many pets do not chew their food well enough to get any abrasive cleaning action from dry food. Whether you feed dry or canned food the single most important thing for dental health is tooth brushing.

Why does Halo refer to its products as natural?

Because it is! AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) defines "natural" pet food as having ingredients from ONLY plant, animal or mined sources. These foods cannot be highly processed or contain chemically synthetic ingredients, such as artificial flavors, preservatives or colorings.

Why does Halo refer to its products as holistic?

The holistic viewpoint that Halo has stems from the belief that health is achieved by focusing on the whole body through natural living. Halo believes that the quality of ingredients a pet eats is the foundation of overall well-being but that elimination of harsh chemicals from food, treats and the environment is also critical to achieve optimal health.

Why does Halo use so much egg and peas in their formulations?

Halo uses eggs and peas as an additional source of highly digestible protein to support protein levels in all formulations. Halo does not use meat meal as a concentrated source of dried protein and uses only whole real meat ingredients. It is more difficult to achieve very high protein levels when using whole real meat instead of a meat meal. We feel the eggs and peas are healthier alternatives to meat meal.

Why does Halo avoid rice and corn in their foods?

Halo defines corn and white rice as "fillers". These are carbohydrates that may raise blood sugar levels rapidly and create hormonal signals that may have negative long term effects on metabolism and weight gain. Corn and rice based diets may also contribute to chronic symptoms of maldigestion, such as gas, bloating, and diarrhea. Halo makes healthier carbohydrate choices by using whole grains such as barley and oats and vegetables like sweet potatoes. These carbohydrates are nutrient-dense because they supply energy as well as high levels of fiber for digestive health and high levels of vitamins and minerals for overall health.

About Halo Wet Cat Food

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

Halo is committed to providing no less than the best holistic recipes to satisfy your cat’s carnivorous cravings. Their wet cat food combines pure, natural ingredients like whole meat, poultry and fish plus non-GMO fruits and vegetables for delicious, more digestible meals. Following a whole meat philosophy, Halo never uses animal by-products or meat meals—just the real, whole proteins your cat needs to thrive.

Super Digestibility

Halo believes that whole meat equals a whole lot more digestibility. As obligate carnivores, cats need meat, not just parts of animals that you wouldn’t consider to be meat. When your pet gets whole proteins instead of rendered meats like chicken meal or fish meal, they’re getting optimum nutrition that’s easier for their body to digest. And that means they can get the full benefits of each nutrient-rich ingredient.

What's in Your Cat's Bowl?

With Halo, you won’t see a "meat meal" hiding anywhere in the ingredients, and there’s no corn, wheat, wheat gluten, rice or artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. Here’s what you will find:

Holistic Whole Protein: Salmon, whitefish, chicken or turkey that's slow-cooked provides a more digestible source of protein with up to 16 times less ash than rendered meat.

Non-GMO Produce: Fruits and vegetables from farms that refuse to use genetically modified seeds that rely heavily on chemical fertilizers and herbicides to produce crops.

    Not my cats favorite

    By on

I've tried other Halo brand foods and this was the only one my cats didn't favor. Thank you Chewy for refunding me. I took the remaining cans to our local Feline Cat Rescue.

    Smaller portions

    By on

I want the smaller ounces 2.5 Oz cans. My cats are fussy. Once I open a can, I feed each cat one big spoon then what’s left, I throw it away. Food has to be fresh for my cats.

    Great food when on sale

    By on

There is nothing negative to say about this brand or food. The only reason I give this 4 stars is that my 5 cats prefer the taste of American Journey canned food.

    Don't like pate

    By on

Was trying to switch from pate, so not happy, but my bad for not reading the label entirely. But for those who prefer pate, it is ok.

Cat food from sustainable resources and recycled sources

    By on

I am constantly on the look out for a food Kitty Sapphire will actually eat. She is so very picky and even grows tired of her favorites. I chose this because I have read Halo is great for using sustainable resources and recycled products. I also read a lot of good reviews from other picky cats. When it arrived and I opened a can I was absolutely dismayed to realize it was in pate form, because Sapphire does NOT like pate. I thought I should give it a chance regardless, and initially Sapphire acted like she did not like it and did her 'burying' the food with her paw. She does that when she does not like something and refuses to eat. Eventually she tried it and although she kept acting like she I am constantly on the look out for a food Kitty Sapphire will actually eat. She is so very picky and even grows tired of her favorites. Won’t eat it

I was once again looking for a grain-free seafood option. They ate the first two cans but now it just sits in the bowls.

    Our cats love this food!

    By on

We just started using Halo canned whitefish food for adult cats and from the first can, our kitties have inhaled every bite! They had a history of snubbing other foods for no apparent reason, so I'm happy this food is a success. I love the ingredients and feel good about feeding it to our 2 cats (just a year old.)
