The Halti OptiFit is a premium headcollar designed to provide a flawless fit while putting a stop all that pulling and tugging excited pups are known for when out for a walk. Headcollars are a gentle way to direct your dog’s head, steering him into desired positions. The OptiFit is specially designed to fit dogs that other headcollars don’t – from short nosed Boxers to long nosed Greyhounds. With a self-adjusting chin strap and unique, reflective cheek straps which follow the contours of a dog’s face, it won’t bother his eyes or slide down to his mouth.
Unique design gently directs your dog’s head, steering him into desired positions.
Comprised of a self-adjusting chin strap and reflective cheek straps that follows the contours of your dog’s face.
Fits dogs that other headcollars don’t, including short and long nosed breeds.
Provides maximum comfort and optimum fit no matter what shape or size.
Can be used as a passive means to stop dogs pulling or as an active training aid.
To select the most accurate size collar for your pet, measure the center of their neck with a cloth tape measure, a few inches down from their head. Pull the cloth tape measure snug, but not tight. If you don't have a cloth tape measure, you can use a piece of string and measure it with a rigid ruler afterwards. Make sure there’s enough room for about two fingers between the collar and your pet’s neck for comfort.
I’ve used these on all my big dogs. Fitted properly they provide as much control or better than a pinch collar, plus are more socially acceptable. However- if between sizes I would choose the smaller size. I didn’t and it was way too clumsy to be comfortable for my dog so I had to exchange it.

We had been using a prong collar on our GSP for about half a year with NO improvement in pulling while walking on leash. The halti helped some, not tremendously but I do notice a small difference in how hard he pulls. If you have a mild/occasional puller this will work wonderfully. For the severe/constant pullers no guarantee.
I don't know about this one

I can't tell if the sizing is off or it's just faulty product. The nose strap just slides around, which leaves bad chaffing and bruising. The straps are not strong, so the long gevity of this doesn't look good. I think we'll just stick to the prong collar.

So I have had boxers for years. Almost impossible for me to walk without tons of pulling, x's that by 2boxers on a walk. I bought one for each. They absolutely hated them! I did some slow jogging to get their attention off of trying to get it off. We did 2 walks this weekend one for 3 miles, and one for 4 miles with both boxers. It was so absolutely nice for a change!! Highly recommend
Stops pulling, but scars face up

Sure, the head collar works on pulling, but the neoprene that doesn't cover the full noseband (most is straight nylon with just neoprene edges instead of neoprene on the whole muzzle-facing side). This lack of padding leads to chafing and raw skin even in gentle lead positions. I was disappointed that something that claimed to be a good training aid would cause such physical harm just from the natural wear with a pulling dog.
Better than sliced bread!

I am a service dog puppy raiser and are required to use a Gentle Leader for control. But I have found that the Halti works much better and he loves it. The Halti pulls down instead of back and into his eyes. He is like a totally different pup now. I recently bought two of same size by accident and sharing with another puppy raiser.
Works amazing though a bit complicated at first

Works amazing though a bit complicated at first. The first time I tried it I did not attach the extra link to the collar and my dog was able to get out of it so I quickly removed and returned to original leash to collar. It took a few tries to train this mom how to place on puppy. I took puppy to a new place with new smells to get used to wearing. I am happy so far with the response my puppy has to the gentle leader.
Miss the old style

I much prefer the older version we had years ago. The fabric used to be heartier, and the adjustable piece was sturdier. This newer style clip is easier to adjust than the old, but that makes it easier to slip / become too large for our pup’s nose.
After three weeks of wearing, our gal slipped out of it (again) and caught it in her mouth. A couple chomps, and she’d bit through the harness.
It’s the only product that lets me more confidently walk our adopted leash-reactive dog with fuller control. So heavy sigh that this didn’t work for us.

This collar didn't last 10 feet walking my dog. The nose strap lock snapped in 2, the neck strap will not stay secure, it loosened right away. The strap material is to thin to hold length adjustment. It just slid right loose after nose strap clip broke. Will not buy another Halti product again.
