Wil these fit on a 7-month-old Shih Tzu ?
Answer by Shelb9May 18, 2023
You can not use it on any brachycephalic breed they have no snout. Do your research

In the video it shows two leads? So if you hook the chin strap to the D ring where are you attaching the other lead? Makes it look like horses reins. Please let me know
Answer by ChewyAug 06, 2019
For this headcollar, the manufacturer recommends using a double-ended lead with one end connected to the ring under the dogs jaw and the other connected to the dogs collar. This allows for more effective training by allowing you to walk your dog on their normal collar and only using the head collar to correct behavior.

Does it have a safety strap to connect to my dogs collar?
Answer by ChewySep 19, 2018
This headcollar features a safety clip that connects to the dog's collar for extra security.

Do i need a special lead to use with this collar?
Answer by ChewySep 13, 2018
Any leash can be used with this headcollar.

Did not expect Fear

Put this on my 6 1/2 month old Golden, and she seemed really afraid, trying her best to paw it off. Left on only maybe 20 seconds. As instructions say, ease into it, and so next day I tried again. Same result, and she even fought it being put on (she is normally very good about Halters and things). As soon as it was on, she again was head down trying to paw it off her snout. Because I’ve got a LOT of other things going on, I decided to shelve it for a bit, and try again, but if her reaction is the same, I’ll be looking to see if it’s refundable after the few seconds of trying.

Not the right choice for my needs

This might be a good head halter for dogs that just pull, but not what I needed for working with a dog that is hyper-reactive on leash. The nose loop underneath kept getting around his teeth when he was reactive - he jumps up and attacks the leash. For working with a leash hyper-reactive dog, the original Gentle Leader has worked much, much better.

7 month old puppy STILL PULLS

This one has an additional safety leash clip, to clip to collar, which is part of why we wanted it. We bought this one as its adjustable and we want to teach our 7 month old puppy to walk, as she is terrible if she just has collar and leash. Well this face halter claims it GUARANTEES to stop your dog form pulling, but that is not the case at all. She still pulls really REALLY hard with this one. She also gets her paws stuck on the safety leash clip part they attaches to the collar . That part should be adjustable too but it is not. This is just not a good product, and we will have to try another brand.

Broken head collar

I just got this head collar and used it three times and the nose strap broke at the park. I used it with a halti leash so the leash was still attached to the collar so my dog couldnt run away. Its a good idea but the materials arent nearly strong enough.

Headcollar

We bought this because our puppy was a puller and just didn't listen when corrected. This made walking so much more enjoyable, now the leash is slack and we're not correcting constantly.

Not just for pulling

It was a little difficult to get the plastic adjustment to snap closed. My little dog barks & growls at other dogs. This halti makes it easy to get her attention & correct her. Sometimes she puts her head to the ground & slips out of other collars & harnesses. When she does this she gets her mouth over the halti. The extension between the clip for the leash & the clip that attaches back to the collar is too long. She steps into it when we walk.

Head collar

I had a different head collar that my dog definitely was not thrilled with. She would pull her head down towards the ground and try to get it off. She seems to like this one. She never tried to get it off.

Game changer!

Our dog pulled so much that it was impossible to walk him. Now that he has the OptiFit Headcollar he doesn't pull. The instructions to fit him were easy to follow. Padded nosepad is a plus. The safety link is added assurance that he his collar will stay attached to the leash if in the unlikely event the headcollar comes off. I checked other brands of head collars and most do not have the safety link.

Incredible

This Headcollar is an incredible tool for teaching your dog to walk with you instead of dragging you! I had instant results and I feel using this is much more gentle on my dog. I highly recommend it!

Not for escape artists

I tried using this to teach my heeler not to pull. Being the determined dog he is, I was unable to even take him for a walk with it. He is able to slip out of the nose strap fairly easily, unless I would make it inhumanely tight. Yes, I measured and got the appropriate size. I like the product, but alas, it is still not the solution I needed to command my heeler on walks. He is very bothered by this collar and will paw at the nose strap as long as it takes in order to get it off.
